The Lord Of The Mysteries
Chapter 89's

Klein nodded and said, "Alright, but I still don't know what my mission is."

"Nothing is dangerous. At least I don't see any sign of danger" Dunn said. "This is a case referred to us by the Golden Indus police department. Renowned philanthropist Sir Deweyville has suffered unusual abuse over the past month. Be it his bodyguards, the security guards he hired, or the police, none of them had managed to find the culprit. Inspector Tolle, who is in charge of the case, suspects that it involves Beyonder's powers and, thus, hands the case over to us."

I saw Sir Deweyville in the library a few days ago and noticed that he was feeling sad and lethargic. So it was a result of being harassed. Klein furrowed his brows and asked, "What kind of abuse is that?"

No physical harm has been inflicted; as such, abuse will not be considered harmful.

"Sir Deweyville heard moans and cries every night, wherever he was, be it Tingen or not. It affects his sleep quality negatively." Dunn flipped the note in her hand. "She had seen a psychiatrist and had asked her butler and maid to make sure that it was not an illusion. After making sure that it wasn't a hallucination, so, it was suspected that someone had abused her."

Closing the file, Dunn looked at Klein.

"Replace your probation inspector uniform in the dugout, then meet Inspector Tolle in charge of the case at the Shooting Club. He'll give you more details."

"A uniform of an experimental inspector?" Klein asked instinctively.

Dunn rubbed her forehead and smiled.

"Half of our salaries come from the police department, and the title of probationary inspector is not just on the record. When you met Leonard and I for the first time, we were also wearing uniforms. This is the advantage held by the fullest official members. Yeah, 'Luck' as Emperor Roselle calls it."

Unfortunately, I can't wear it as a casual dress. Otherwise, I would be able to have another spare outfit when my clothes were being washed.

He headed to the break room and saw a black and white checkered uniform, complete with leather boots, placed on the table. The top hat of the uniform was embroidered with the logo of the police department—two crossed swords and a crown. Located at the shoulder was a black and white power mark with a glittering silver star.

"This is the uniform of a trial inspector?" Klein glanced at the uniform and noticed a row of numbers under the silver stars: 06-254.

He had an understanding of the police rank structure in Loen Kingdom. He knew that those at the top were ministers and secretaries of the police chief. Under them were each the commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners of the various police departments. Those in the middle were the inspectors and inspectors, while the ones at the very bottom were the sergeants and police.

After closing the door, Klein took off his suit and hat before changing into a uniform.

He hung his coat and left the room. He walked into the clerk's office and saw himself using the full-body mirror that Rozanne had brought to him.

The young man in the mirror had black hair with soft brown eyes. The uniform on his body accentuated him with a heroic spirit.

"Not bad." Klein praises himself narcissistically. He left his cane in the office and left the Blackthorn Security Company.

Inside his pocket was complete equipment, ranging from weapons to police badges.

The Shooting Club hall.

Klein soon meets Inspector Tolle as he is the only one in police uniform.

Of course, there was me too. Klein thought.

There are two silver stars in the uniform of Inspector Tolle. Her clothes were propped up by her stomach and she had a thick blonde mustache. His body is tall but not impressive. Maybe, it was impressive in the past.

"Morettis? Klein Moretti?" Inspector Tolle watched Klein and greeted him with a smile.

"Hello, Inspector Tolle, I believe you are the right person," Klein replied kindly, then following his memory, he raised his right hand, keeping his fingers straight and tight before saluting.

Toll laughs.

"i can say that you will become a sociable young man. That nice. How about we go to Sir Deweyville's place now?"

Although he was of a higher rank than Klein, the tone of his question was clearly friendly.

"No problem." Klein thought for a moment before saying, "You can tell me the details of the suitcase on the train."

"certain." Tolle stroked his thick blond beard and guided Klein out of the Shooting Club. They boarded a car that stopped across the street.

There was a police emblem "two crossed swords and a crown" on the train, and it came with the driver of a private train.

"Sir Deweyville is a Goddess, so we leave this case to you" Tolle said quickly as he sat down.

"I knew. A good knight is a regular figure on the cover of newspapers and magazines." Klein flashed a friendly smile.

Tolle took the document file beside him and removed the seal before removing the materials inside. As she flipped through it, she explained, “Despite that, even if you realize it, I need to give you a detailed briefing.

"Sir Deweyville is one of the richest tycoons in Tingen City. He built his career starting with tin and porcelain mills. It has now evolved into steel, coal, shipping, banking, and bonds. He is also a great philanthropist who has been praised by the king, having founded the Deweyville Charitable Foundation, the Deweyville Trust, and the Deweyville Library… If he was willing to run for mayor, I don't think anyone in Tingen City could compete with him.

"But Backlund was his goal; he wanted to be a member of parliament. We once suspected that the abuse might be related to this, but we have no leads up to this point."

Klein slightly nodded and said, "We can't rule out that possibility, but no one has been able to confirm that suspicion until now."

Tolle did not think about this. He continued, "Since the sixth of last month, Sir Deweyville has heard a deadly painful groan every night while he sleeps, similar to a patient's struggle for his life. He had checked the surrounding rooms several times, but he had yet to find one. The butler and his servant had also confirmed that they heard such a sound, but it was softer for them.

“At first, Sir Deweyville believed that this problem would pass quickly and did not pay much attention to it. But the groans are getting more and more frequent, to the point that they sometimes occur during the day. There was even the addition of heart-wrenching cries."

"This had made Sir Deweyville lose his sleep, many times he had no choice but to leave Tingen to his villa in the villages. But it didn't work. The crying and crying continued. Similarly, the phenomenon persisted even in Backlund, only it was not too serious.

"He hired security guards to check around him, but they found no clues whatsoever. Our initial research produced nothing either.

"Sir Deweyville, who had been tortured for over a month, was on the verge of collapse. He visited a psychiatrist many times but was unable to solve his problem. He told us that if this matter was not resolved within a month. He believed that there would be people who could help him there."

After listening to Tolle's explanation, Klein quickly analyzed and discovered several possibilities.

He offended the Beyonder and suffered a curse?

Is there a Beyonder with unknown motives hidden among his servants and bodyguards?

But the problem stems from the point that no requests have been made from Sir Deweyville over the past month…

Maybe Sir Deweyville accidentally got in touch with a vengeful evil spirit?

That possibility cannot be ruled out…

The carriage entered the Golden Indus territory while Klein was still deep in thought. It stopped at the door of Sir Deweyville's house.

Steel fence surrounds a lush garden. There are two statues on the side of the perforated metal gate, a magnificent fountain that showers marble statues with water, a spacious two-story building, as well as a walkway wide enough to fit three carriages.

"Even the knight's house was only two stories high. The newspaper reported that Backlund was experimenting with building a ten-story apartment…" Klein got off the carriage and saw a sergeant with three chevron lines walking quickly.

He looked at Klein and saluted.

"Good morning sir!"

"Good morning." Klein nodded with a smile.

Tole smiles.

"This is Sergeant Gate, you can tell him if you need anything.

"This is probation inspector Moretti, a historian and psychologist from the police department," Tolle introduces Klein to Gate.

…I don't deserve such a title. Klein feels a little embarrassed.

After the greeting, Gate pointed to the two-story building behind the fountain and said, "Sir Deweyville is waiting for us."

"Good." Klein caressed the gun on his waist.

That was his best bet against the enemy.

Since he was in a police uniform, he could put his revolver in a holster on his hip, making it easier to draw it.

As they spoke, the three walked down the path, around the fountain, and arrived outside the door.

Back then, the door had already been opened by a servant who was waiting politely on the side.

As Klein pretended to adjust his hat, he tapped on the glabella twice to activate his Spirit Vision before entering the house.

The square-faced Sir Deweyville was massaging his forehead in the hall. He was clearly in low spirits. Her blond hair and blue eyes were dry or dull as if she had aged for at least five years.

"Good morning, Mr. Deweyville." Klein, Tolle, and Gate bowed at the same time.

Sir Deweyville stood up and forced a smile.

"Good morning, Officer, I hope you can finish what's distressing for me."

At that moment, Klein narrowed his eyes and slightly furrowed his brows.

Other than his low spirits, Klein was unable to find any other problems with Sir Deweyville.

Strange...He thought for a moment before saying, "Sir, which room did you first hear moans in?"

"My room." Sir Deweyville shook his head.

"Can we see it?" ask Klein.

"Don't you check it many times?" the middle-aged butler interrupted from the side.

It was clear that he did not notice that Klein was a partner of a kind-hearted soul who "did not pocket the money he took."

Klein smiled, calm down.

"That's my partner, not me."

"Sir, this is an expert sent by the police agency" Tolle said, taking the opportunity to introduce him.

Deweyville looked at the young expert and said, "Alright, Cullen, take him to my room."

"Sir, I hope you come with us" Klein said seriously.

Deweyville hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "If it can solve the problem…"

He grabbed his wand as he spoke. He walked weakly towards the stairs with Cullen's butler and a few guards beside him, ready to support him if needed.

Klein scanned the surroundings as he followed behind them silently.

One step, two steps, three steps. They arrived at the second floor and entered the master bedroom.

Klein did not have time to look around as the hair on his body stood up.

This was the feedback of his spiritual perception!
