The Lord Of The Mysteries

The Lord Of The Mysteries
Chapter 127's

The light of the gas lamp shone through the glass, illuminating the guard room. Old Neil finished flipping through his newspaper, sipping coffee, and looked at Klein.

"How are you feeling now? Have you calmed down? Or do you need a glass of wine, or a down payment on your paycheck, or a day off?"

Klein, who had fully digested the Seer potion, tried to change his "switch" that activated his Spirit Vision with Cogitation. He didn't want it to be too flashy.

Right now he no longer needed to rely on physical movements to activate his Spirit Vision. Therefore, he could use a more stealthy approach to achieve his goal; for example, stroking his middle finger joints with his thumb in sequence, or double-clicking with his left molar.

Klein considered the situation where he needed to use his Spirit Vision while holding the revolver in one hand and the staff in the other. Finally, he decided to click on his molar. His left molars will be used to activate Spirit Vision, and his right molars to deactivate them.

After repeatedly suggesting to himself, he completed the change. He then opened his eyes and smiled.

"i'm just too worried about the Captain's operation. I don't need to calm down."

At the same time, he clicked his left molar twice and tried to activate his Spirit Vision. He wanted to familiarize himself with this method as quickly as possible.

Cough! Cough! Cough! Old Neil started coughing loudly. He coughed until his face flushed, like a cooked lobster.

"What's going on?" Klein froze before asking with concern.

He looked at Old Neil's aura seriously, only to realize that the colors representing his health were still normal, only slightly dull due to his age.

Old Neil coughed for nearly twenty seconds before getting a pause. He felt his coffee cup and slowly sipped it. "Everybody makes mistakes, ahem. I choked on my drink just now.. Can we start my mysticism lessons today?"

"Good." Klein silently clicked on his right molar twice.

Klein was overjoyed, but frustrated that he had fully digested the Seer potion a week or two before his prediction. He was naturally happy that he was freed from the risk of losing control and would soon advance, gaining more Beyonder power. It was something that made everyone happy and excited. But he was also frustrated, as it disrupted his plans and schedule.

Considering the fact that she still had to stay with the Tingen Nighthawks for some time, Klein thought that advancing to Clown secretly was not the wisest option. If he did, he would constantly worry about getting caught, and he would not be able to use his abilities when there were missions, making him even more dangerous to himself.

He planned to learn from Spirit Medium Daly and submit an application to the superiors. He would use his contribution to obtain outstanding recipes and ingredients before officially advancing to Sequence 8 Nighthawk.

But there is a difference between grasping a potion in a month and a year. Klein could bear the scrutiny of the Sacred Cathedral and be a talent for nurturing, but he did not want the higher-ups to suspect him. He needed to find a convincing reason to explain his plight.

He had planned to use the time before the Seer potion was completely digested to lay some groundwork with the Captain. For example, he would mention that he felt his spirituality become more active every time he went to the Divination Club, he said, or pretend to casually describe the laws of an Astrologer that he obtained from helping others predict their fate. He could also mention that he didn't hear any sounds that he shouldn't have heard, or see things that weren't his eyes.

In this way, the Nighthawks higher-ups would think that he had accidentally learned something from Daly while completing his "mission" and had done a more thorough job than he did.

This would have made the higher-ups more focused on summarizing the law and finding a "method of acting," lessening the suspicions placed on Klein.

That way, I can even help the Captain and the others learn about acting methods. He felt that Dunn Smith was a good captain. He had no conspicuous flaws other than his poor memory. Therefore, he wanted to reduce the risk of Dunn losing control and making her stronger.

Of course, Klein could also choose to apply after a year to avoid any risk. But the continuous coincidences and red chimneys he saw in his dream prophecy gave him no choice but to improve his abilities as soon as possible.

"i'll lay the foundations with the Captain three or four times over the next two weeks before formally submitting my request. At the same time, I can head to the underground market to see if any extraordinary materials are needed. They would probably be very expensive .." Klein quickly made a decision and focused his attention once again on the lessons of mysticism.

Time passed quickly as lunch time slowly approached. Old Neil finished his coffee and tidied the items on the table laughing.

"Your mystery lesson is coming to an end. From the test earlier, it seems like you can make a charm for yourself right now."

"That's my plan for the next few days." Klein sighed in satisfaction.

The spell was different from the protective talisman he gave to Benson and Melissa. They need to be carved with the help of ritual magic, and they have certain unique abilities that can be used in battle.

But low-level charms can't do everything. The spirituality it contains will diminish over time and should be renewed once every two weeks. Also, he needed to activate it with a certain spell; it was impossible to use it at will.

Furthermore, the amulets used by the Nighthawks were still limited to the "domain" of the Goddess Overnight. Klein could only make three types of talismans for now. The first is the Sleeping Spell, and the effect is similar to Dunn Smith and Leonard Mitchell's ability to put someone to sleep with their singing. The second is the Requiem Spell, which is capable of calming ghosts, souls, zombies, and the like. It could also deal with vengeful and evil spirits to some extent. The latter was a Dream Spell; its ability allowed the user to enter the dreams of others.

This ability was similar to the ability of the Midnight Poet and Nightmare of the Sleepless Sequence, so Dunn and Leonard did not use this spell. Corpse Collector Frye, Sleepless Royale, and Kenley will be bringing one or two with them, but they have not needed them for a long time. They often brought their talismans back to Old Neil so he could "recharge" them.

Old Neil glanced at Klein and smiled.

"I remember you saying that you practiced a lot this month and ran out of materials. Are you going to the underground market?"

"Yes." Yeah."

He clearly knew the price of the ingredients. He could only hope that he managed to make a talisman on his first try rather than wasting materials …

After being given the mission of bringing lunch underground, Klein put on his jacket and hat before returning to the Blackthorn Security Company on the second floor with a stick in hand.

As he walked through the entertainment room, he noticed that Leonard and the others had already returned and were enjoying their lunch.

Knock it! Knock it! Knock it! He knocked on the Captain's door.

"Please come in." Dunn's soft voice sounded.

Klein pushed the door open and took off his hat.

"Captain, did you catch Trissy's instigator?"

Dunn rubbed her temple and shook her head in exhaustion. "We didn't find it at Tingen Station, but according to the telegraph we received from Backlund, a passenger saw it in the first-class carriage of the earliest train. Unfortunately, he got off in the middle of the trip."

"Why regrettable." Klein sighed even though he expected this. "The forecast is not too strong …"

Dunn's gray eyes swept past him.

"No need to be depressed. It's not easy to catch Sequence 7 Beyonder. At the very least, we disrupted Trissy's evil ritual and saved at least forty innocent lives. Next, we understand the situation now. He can no longer commit crimes as he wishes."

"If he tries to do something similar, he will be known, found, and reported at any time. Sooner or later, he will be captured by the Nighthawks, Mandated Punisher, or Machinery Hivemind. Maybe he'll even be killed."

"Hopefully so. May the Goddess bless us." Klein drew a red moon on his chest.

After that, he stopped and pondered his words.

"Captain, I haven't heard an unwanted sound or seen unwanted vision for over a week now. Also, it's true even when I'm in interrogation or using my Spirit Vision."

"Thank you?" Dunn furrowed her brows, puzzled.

Klein immediately explained, "i feel that I am not far from achieving complete control over the Seer Potion. This could be because I often visit the Divination Club and help others predict their fate."

"… Why do you think so?" Dunn immediately changed her sitting posture, her expression lost.

Klein added a stutter to his sentence. "E-every time I go to the Divination Club, I can feel my spirituality become more active, and every time I help someone to foretell something, heart, body, body, and my soul has become more relaxed.I have also made a set of, well, a set of rules for a Seer.I have followed it strictly, like how a Mystery Thief can be "do what you want, but do no harm." I found inspiration from this saying and tried to create a proverb designed for the Seer.

"i think this might be an effective way to help Beyonders gain control of their potions faster and reduce the risk of losing control. Just like Mrs Daly who has always been a Spirit Medium."

It is not known when Dunn pulled out her pipe. He put it on his nose and sniffed it, seemingly forgetting Klein as he thought for a few minutes.

"Amazing guess, and an interesting experiment …"

Klein only wanted to briefly mention it this time to establish the underlying reason, so he did not say anything more. He turned to a half-joking tone and said, "Maybe I will become the fastest Nighthawk in history to master the potion of Order 9."

"May the Goddess take care of you," Dunn blessed her, not taking her seriously. He then sank into deep thought once more.

Witnessing this, Klein turned around and said goodbye before leaving the Captain's office.

He was closing the room door when he suddenly thought of another difficult question. How could he possibly act as a clown!

Should I join the circus? There was no fixed circus at Tingen, everything was wandering around. Klein's expression became a little bitter.

Being an Astrologer is still a pretty respectable job. Klein could still hold his head up high even if he was seen by someone he knew. But if he were to become a Clown, there was no way his reputation would survive!

There may be other ways to act as a clown. There was no circus or clown when the Blasphemy Slate was revealed to the world. Forget it, I won't have a chance to advance for another two or three weeks, either, so there's no need to consider this for now. Klein avoided the question and headed to the reception area. He's walking towards Rozanne, Mrs. Orianna, and Bredt to take her lunch and Old Neil.
