Captain, that's the question I want you to ask! Klein nodded seriously.
"i feel better.I even believe that I can pass the examination of the Holy Cathedral now. It's a kind of feeling and confidence that can't be explained by words."
Realizing that the answer might be a little vague, he could not help but add, "Maybe the name of the herb is very important. When I strictly followed the principles of the Diviner I obtained and acted as a clairvoyant, everything became perfect and easy.Yes, now I can activate my Spirit Vision in a more inconspicuous way."
Dunn slightly furrowed her brows as the light in her eyes fused together, she muttered as if immersed in her thoughts, "The name of the potion…"
After about ten seconds, he looked at Klein again.
"Do you need to go back and tell your family? Sunday is the second day after your assignment at Chanis Gate. You should take a break."
Considering the fact that Elizabeth was a good friend of her sister, and that she had promised that the matter would be resolved within a week, Klein replied without hesitation, "We don't need to waste time. After we leave, just get on the train to turn on Daffodil Street."
"alright. Get Frye while I fill out the application form to remove the Closed Artifact 3-0782." Dunn pointed to the break room diagonally across from her.
Frye was a Corpse Collector, so he did not have the abundant energy of a Sleepless. If he's free, he'll take a nap.
Fill out the application form yourself, agree to it yourself, and take it for yourself. Captain, our management system is quite flawed… Klein railed silently before he took his hat and walked out of Dunn's office to knock on the door diagonally across from her.
After Klein knocked three times, Frye opened the door and looked at Klein confusedly.
"What's the problem?"
When he took a nap, his hair was messy and his clothes were not neat. His cold and gloomy temperament faded a little.
However, he still looked like a dead man coming out of his coffin,
"There are cases involving ghosts. The captain is expecting your help."
"okay." Frye raised her hand involuntarily to tidy up her disheveled hair, returning it to the cold person that made them unable to live.
After she dressed up, the two of them waited on the sofa in the reception hall. The environment warmed after seven or eight minutes, as if the area was exposed to sunlight.
Soon after, they saw Dunn Smith walking through the partition while she held an ancient badge about half the size of a palm in her hand.
The badge had a dark golden luster and was engraved with symbolic signs of the Sun and stripes that extended to the edges. It was the Closed Artifact 3-0782 of the Inner Republic, originally named "Sacred Emblem of the Mutated Sun."
The Republic of Intis was the country that Roselle transformed from an empire to a republic before turning it back into an empire. Now, it had established itself as a stable republic and was located on the west coast of the Northern Continent. Its borders with the Loen Kingdom include landmarks such as the Midseashires, the Hornacis mountains, and so on.
Since the founding of Intis as a nation, the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun had oppressed the Church of the God of Workmanship which came to be known as the Church of the Steam and Machine Gods. With it being the main religion of the country, the country could also be referred to as the Kingdom of the Sun.
"Let's go. Frye, you drive. Cesare could not resist refining the Sacred Emblem for too long," Dunn reminded them calmly.
Cesare Francis was an employee in charge of buying and collecting supplies. He's also their driver, but he's just a regular guy. He could not last more than an hour within fifteen meters of the Closed Artifact 3-0782. The journey from Zouteland Road to Lamud Town, according to Klein's understanding, would require at least two and a half hours. That does not include time to turn to Daffodil Road.
"Good." Frye did not mind but checked if she was carrying her personal belongings.
…
When the sunset rays dyed the top of the city's cathedral, the Nighthawk chariot finally arrived in Lamud City.
The city is located on the northwestern edge of Tingen. Many buildings still have the characteristics of the era before the Steam Age. There were hardly any factories and villages nearby involved in commercial trade.
After they stopped the train, Dunn looked at the hair salon opposite her and said,
"i asked one of the locals before. It only takes a fifteen minute walk from here to the castle ruins on the mountain. It is said that it belonged to a feudal lord who ruled during the Fourth Age. However, no one knows what happened after that. Of course, their description is just a local myth."
"Yes, let's go now and face the ghost before the sky goes dark. Then, can we take turns watching 3-0782 and keep it away from the commoners?"
Ever since Dunn took the Sacred Emblem of the Mutated Sun, three hours had passed. It was getting closer and closer to the limits of the Beyonder. In a short period of time, they had to part ways and give each other time to recover.
"okay." Frye gave a short answer.
"i don't have a problem with that." Klein touched the Sleeping Spell and Requiem Spell in his pocket.
Three Nighthawks in thin black windbreak jackets walked through the streets of the city and towards the mountain when they reached the crossroads. Along the way, the road was overgrown with weeds and overgrown with shrubs, but still wide enough for two carriages to pass.
It wasn't long until they saw the outer walls of the ancient castle collapsing. On the outer wall that was still standing, there was a green plant crawling on it while the exposed part was mottled.
As he began to approach, Klein could feel a piercing chill as goosebumps formed all over his arms.
"There really is a ghost," said Frye monotonously as he looked at the ancient castle.
Dunn looked to the side to glance at the newly promoted Nighthawk, then she laughed and said, "Don't worry. We have 3-0782 and Frye; ghosts won't cause too much trouble."
He held his artificial revolver in one hand and the Sacred Emblem of the Mutated Sun in the other. He took the first step towards the ancient castle that looked like a ruin.
Klein followed behind and prepared to pull the trigger at any time, swing his cane, or use his spell.
Whooshing sound! Whooshing sound! Whooshing sound!
The three Nighthawks did not stop. The warm and pure feeling gradually dissipated the cold and conquered the front of the ancient castle.
They climbed up a pile of rocks, past the collapsed outer wall before slowly entering the castle which had lost its main entrance and was filled with broken tiles.
The hall of the ancient castle was full of collapsed stone pillars and covered in moss. It was spacious, but the windows were narrow and placed high on the wall. Therefore, the lighting is bad. It looked dim and gloomy inside.
It also characterizes buildings from the late Fourth Age and early Fifth Age. Klein, who was a historian, instinctively made judgments and activated his Vision of the Spirit.
Just then, an illusory yet piercing roar suddenly exploded. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a thick cloud of black fog filled the air, resisting the infiltration of warmth and purity.
A tall figure suddenly appeared amidst the black fog. He wore a whole body, black armor and carried a sword that was difficult for ordinary people to lift.
The ghost looked identical to the one Klein saw in Elizabeth's dream. Two fire-like red light bulbs shone through the gap of his helmet, looking cold, but they stared at the three Nighthawks furiously.
"You've disturbed my sleep! You must pay with your flesh and blood!" He suddenly launched himself forward and instantly shortened the distance to Dunn. He suddenly slashed down with his greatsword.
Dunn retreated quickly and raised her hand to fire her revolver.
Clangs!
The silver demon hunter bullet did not manage to break through the illusory black armor and only produced a sharp but unrealistic sound.
Klein and Frye retreated to the side simultaneously. Someone held a gun in one hand and aimed at the two fireballs that replaced the eyes of the black armored knight before pulling the trigger. The other Nighthawk turned his eyes into a calm grayish-white and focused on ghosts.
The black armored knight roared furiously again. He took another big step towards Dunn and swung his sword horizontally.
Bam!
The wide sword did not injure Dunn, but it knocked him down, causing him to land hard on the side of the door. It made him spit out a mouthful of fresh blood.
With a loud bang, 3-0782 fell to the ground. Wearing metal boots, the ghost excitedly kicked with his right foot and sent a dangerous badge out of the ancient castle door. It was over fifteen meters away from him.
Klein, who had not managed to shoot ghosts successfully, became nervous and confused upon seeing the scene. It was as if he was ignoring the transformation before his eyes from a calm and rational position.
Bang out!
He fired another bullet. The silver demon hunter bullet hit the ghost helmet and produced a spark. But there was no obvious damage.
"The right gloves!" scream Fry. He had always been cold and gloomy, but now his tone was filled with anxiety.
Not long after he finished speaking, he lifted up his revolver as well and aimed at the ghost's right iron glove.
Bang out! Bang out! Klein shot involuntarily according to Frye's instructions, firing a silver demon hunter's bullet almost simultaneously with him.
This time, the ghost did not block it with his armor but raised his greatsword and fired both bullets.
Bam! He took a step and charged at Klein, colliding with him head-on.
As Klein flew out, he saw his chest collapse, saw himself spewing blood, but he did not feel uncomfortable, not in the slightest.
He suddenly snapped out of his daze, fell to the ground, rolled around, and shouted.
Suddenly, the ancient castles, ghosts, pillars collapsed, and the moss floor shattered eeriely. Everything returned to being a black fog in the air, just like when the black armored knight first appeared.
The only difference was that Dunn held both of her fists tightly, slightly bent, and her gray eyes were dark and deep.
As expected, everything was just a dream. The captain pulled the ghost, Frye, and I into his dream at the same time. But I was special, and I was able to keep a clear and rational mind. Klein realized that he was still standing two meters to Dunn's right. He did not spit blood or scream.
Just then, Dunn stood up straight and looked towards the ghost that was about to slash down with her sword. He calmly said, "It's been over a minute."
The ghost was dumbfounded and screamed loudly. His body began to emit black steam, as if it had just received a death sentence.
Any zombie or spirit that had not turned into an evil spirit could not be within fifteen meters of the Sacred Emblem of the Mutated Sun for more than a minute!
Jesus, Captain, you're so cool! Klein looked at the scene from the side and almost cheered!
Dunn had used her dream ability not to attack ghosts in her own territory, but just to pass the time!
In a warm and pure feeling, the black vapor evaporated quickly and the coldness gradually disappeared. In a short time, the knight became transparent and fused with the void.
Clangs!
The black gauntlet fell to the ground, its surface covered in white ice.
Klein was about to ask the Captain's permission to take the "drop", but when he looked up, his spirituality was suddenly interrupted.
Somewhere near the stairs separating the hall and dining hall, there was intense yet illusory misery and uncleanness calling out to him!
