The Lord Of The Mysteries

The Lord Of The Mysteries
Chapter 88's

"What's that?" Benson asked casually.

Melissa looked at her brother with a serious expression as she felt that Klein's behavior tonight was also strange. In fact, it just looks a little more normal than Elizabeth's behavior and, later, Selena's behavior.

Klein chuckled as he had long since thought of an excuse and said, "There was an error in one of the document descriptions, which is, and I've told my colleagues that I'll hand them over when I arrive early at the company tomorrow morning. So , I can change it now because it's on its way or get up at least half an hour early tomorrow morning. No doubt, I have chosen to do the first."

"Ah, no wonder. I have a disturbing hunch that your mind is not in the game, so you're really thinking about work." Benson smiled, suddenly enlightened. "No, I'm sorry. I gotta say, card games help you think."

"All right, we'll be waiting for you." Melissa threw away her face and tidied up the wrinkles from her engagement.

Having already passed the operating time for public trains both on and off the track, the three brothers bid farewell to their hosts before renting a nearby train. It costs two soli for forty-five minutes.

"i've heard that any train driver who rents their own train adds an unreasonable cost" Benson lamented in a low voice. He has used most of the money he won before to pay the driver.

Klein smiled and replied, "i think that's perfectly acceptable. Anyway, it's almost eleven."

"I was just kidding. I thought we could share the train with another guest. Forty-five minutes can take us to many places." Benson looked out the window at the other people renting the carriages one after another.

I know, sharing a ride. Klein rubbed the top of his silver stick and said, "We have no problem with that, but other customers might. Benson, did you notice that they really care about them? their image and look respectable? I thought it might be common among the middle class."

"Hm." Benson nodded seriously and said, "The Wood family is far more wasteful than I imagined. However, Wood's weekly salary was only four pounds per week.Heh, 'looks respectable' is probably the biggest difference between middle-class people and curly-haired baboons."

Do you have anything against curly-haired baboons . Klein almost laughed out loud.

Melissa did not participate in their discussion. He sat down and measured Klein from time to time. His gaze sent a chill down his spine.

The two-wheeled horse carriage was speeding on a dark and desolate road. They arrived at Zouteland Road in just twelve minutes.

"Wait for me here. Five minutes, it won't be more than five minutes" Klein stressed. He put on his hat, grabbed his cane, and got off the train.

Because the train driver fills based on time, not distance, the driver does not mind waiting.

Climbing the stairs, Klein arrived at the Blackthorn Security Company and knocked on the door.

In ten seconds, the door was wide open. Leonard Mitchell appeared before him in a vest and shirt.

"You're off duty tonight" Leonard pointed out, looking surprised to see him.

Klein was on guard duty once a week at Chanis Gate. They maintain a regular work schedule for the rest of the time. As for emergencies that occur at night, they will be handled by Sleepless who enjoys the night.

However, just sleeping two to three hours a day can cause baldness and memory loss.Every time he thinks of this, Klein can't help but laugh at Captain Dunn Smith in his mind.

"I have something to report" he replied briefly.

"There's mission?" Leonard asked casually, moving to the side.

When Klein entered the reception hall, he saw Dunn coming out in his black jacket. His gray eyes were as dark as ever.

"Captain, I found an incident involving the supernatural."

"Give me the details" Dunn asked directly.

Klein told the whole story from before and reported the steps he took to deal with it.

"…So, I think there's a need to investigate Hanass Vincent."

Back then he believed that because of the evil entity invited by the magic mirror prophecy did not cause a disaster, and there was no indication that he was in great danger. That means entities may still need more time. He did not wish to awaken or possess Selena before; therefore, as long as her goal was not revealed, the evil entity chose to observe the situation. Under such circumstances, it was not difficult for Elizabeth to trick Selena into going to the entrance of the room.

"You've done well. You took the opportunity before the evil spirit fully materialized to possess his body completely." Dunn lifted her head lightly and said, "Let us handle the follow-up investigation. You can return home to rest."

Klein heaved a sigh of relief and chuckled.

"i thought you'd make this my initiation mission and get me to complete it myself."

From the spell Elizabeth gave him, Hanass Vincent is indeed dangerous…

"That's because there's been an initiation mission for you." The indifferent Leonard laughed at the side.

"What?" Klein surprised.

Dunn grinned and explained in a soothing voice, "About seven p.m., the police station referred us to a case. From our initial assessment, there doesn't seem to be any danger or urgency, so it was decided that you'll solve it yourself tomorrow."

"Alright, don't ask the case. Rest well tonight and move your day to Tuesday or Wednesday."

Captain, doing so only affects my sleep. Plus, Monday afternoon is when the Tarot Gathering takes place... Do I need to send a delay notice to Justice and The Hanged Man? Klein shook his head and smiled bitterly. He then said goodbye and left.

Coming out of the stairs, he suddenly felt something. He raised his head to look towards the carriage they had rented. He only saw Melissa looking at him silently through the window.

When they made eye contact, Melissa suddenly threw away her face and sat down properly.

The corner of Klein's mouth twitched, and he boarded the carriage, pretending nothing had happened.

Under the red moon and the pristine night sky, trains moved swiftly down the streets one after another.

Melissa, who was planning on using another bathroom, opened the door and looked at her sister suspiciously.

"Melissa, do you have any questions you want to ask? I know you have," asked Klein straightforwardly.

Don't just watch me in silence…

Melissa's lips twitched and her brows furrowed as she spoke.

"Klein, what did you do to Elizabeth? He looks a little weird."

"And, lately, Selena's starting to act really weird too."

Klein had prepared the answer.

"Did you know that Elizabeth and Selena are fans of mysticism?"

"…Yes, but I don't like it. I don't think there's anything inexplicable in this world" Melissa replied seriously after a moment of surprise. "Everything that seems unexplainable is due to the fact that the knowledge we have grasped is not enough."

"Yes, I think so too," Klein echoed his feelings with guilt.

I thought so too, until I managed to seduce death…

He coughed lightly and continued, "Mistics involves Hermes, a language used specifically for ancient worship ceremonies and prayers. Elizabeth knew that I was good at it. Heh, after all, it is the domain of historians. So, he asked me about the pronunciation.of the corresponding words and their true meaning."

Melissa nodded lightly, signaling she accepted her brother's explanation. It went according to his understanding of both sides.

"As for why Elizabeth and Selena became strange later on, I don't know the real reason." Klein removed himself from the picture first, then he said, "But, I can guess."

"You guessed it?" Melissa exclaimed in shock.

Klein raised his hand and patted his lips.

"I can guess from Elizabeth's question. Some words of Hermes are related to divination, as well as the worship of evil entities. Yeah, when Selena did the magic mirror prophecy, did she read in Hermes?"

He proactively brought up that to remind his sister to stay alert to the same situation. It would be even better if he could break contact with Selena and Elizabeth.

"Yes .." Melissa replied after the delay. "I think I understand why Elizabeth and Selena are acting so weird…"

Then, Klein asked deliberately, "Because Selena's magic mirror prophecy involves evil and illegal beliefs, maybe Elizabeth found an opportunity to criticize and correct Selena's mistakes after she explained to me the true meaning of the Hermes Selena used?"

"I guess so," Melissa did not doubt this conclusion because she herself had made the same conclusion.

Klein heaved a sigh of relief after seeing that he had managed to direct the flow of the conversation.

"In the future, it's best if you advise Selena to put her faith in the orthodox."

Then, he tapped on the four spots on his chest like a priest.

"Yes I will!" Melissa replied, sounding determined.

"And don't tell Elizabeth and Selena about our cuts or about the things I've said. I actually promised Elizabeth not to tell you" Klein stressed.

"okay." Melisa nodded lightly.

On Monday morning at eight, at the Blackthorn Security Company.

Klein took off his hat and greeted Rozanne and Bredt. After exchanging a few words, he entered the office of Captain Dunn Smith.

He pushed the door open and looked around. He was suddenly startled, as Dunn's face was quite pale and her gray eyes looked overcast, without the usual darkness.

"What's going on? Hanass Vincent?" Klein asked in worry and surprise.

Dunn rubbed her forehead, took a sip of coffee, and replied with a bitter smile, "Hanass Vincent is dead."

"Who killed him before?" Klein sat in front of Dunn with a stick in his hand.

Dunn did not immediately reply but sighed and said, "Leonard and I went to look for Hanass Vincent last night. Since her usual behavior showed no unusual signs and there was nothing strange with her house, I decided to enter her dream to look for clues."

"In his dream, in his dream…"

His eyes showed fear as Dunn repeated herself twice, which was when he said, "In his dream, I saw a cross, a large cross, which covered the sky. On that great cross was a naked man who was nailed to him with black nails. His arms and legs were clamped with his arms stretched outwards. He was hung upside down, his head hung low like a chandelier. There's blood on his body."

"After seeing such a scene, I lost consciousness.I abandoned Hanass Vincent's dream, and when I woke up, Leonard told me that Hanass had died in his sleep."

"The great cross, hung upside down, men covered in blood. This is similar to some of the stories of the True Creator that some hidden organizations believe, but there are considerable differences as well.." Klein makes a reduction in suspicion.

Some hidden organizations that believe in the True Creator have only appeared in the last two or three centuries, such as the Order of Aurora and the Order of the Iron and Blood Cross. However, similar depictions have never gone away over the past thousands of years.

Dunn rubbed her forehead again. "We'll follow up on this. As for you, go ahead and complete your initiation mission first."
