The Legend of the Twin Multiversal Gods

The Legend of the Twin Multiversal Gods
Chapter 17: Challenges, Competition, and Bonding

Main Hall, First Floor Magus Palace, Rainzar city.

Delta Commander jumped backwards. Breathing gasps. His fist tightened on his greatsword which had been tainted by several small cracks. His teeth that were embedded directly on the jaw were grinding full of rage. His two eye sockets that were filled with a fiery red light stared vexedly at the bones and swords strewn across the floor of the hall. Half of his army had been killed, and he was unable to protect them all. The living skull was only able to witness the death of his precious men with a vengeful gaze.

*trude!!*

*repp!!*

*crakk!!*

The sound of impact between the bones and the sound of metal clashing again filled the air. Bones that were split apart fell to the floor, unable to get back up. The warrior's sword was stuck on the palace floor, unmoved, as if mourning the death of his master. The Delta Commander again tightened his grip on his great sword. In front of his own eyes, his beloved warrior died. Meanwhile, the assassin simply stared at the bones with an expressionless face, then swung his sword swiftly towards the other soldiers. Yuto Zamoto, that's the name of the killer.

"Damn ...," said the Delta Commander, "weren't they only armed with a sword? How could they defeat my elite soldiers?! It's impossible!!! It makes absolutely no sense!!!" The Delta commander continued to curse and exclaim in his mind.

The living skull was grimacing softly."It's actually dangerous, but, I have to do it for the sake of keeping my rank as a general, and for the sake of keeping the oath of 'Protector and Dark Lord' that I once uttered before the great Magus God himself!!!" Without a second thought, the Delta Commander darted towards Yuto and swung his greatsword, intending to decapitate Yuto.

*zig!!!*

The sound of the sword was clearly heard. Yuto's sword had swung vertically, splitting the Delta Commander's greatsword as well as splitting the ribs of the living skull in the blink of an eye. The Delta Commander could only stare at Yuto's flat face with a look full of disbelief. A few seconds later, his skeletal bones hit the floor and were scattered, like food scraps from a wild animal.

"I ... failed?!" The Delta Commander sat in while maintaining his inattentive gaze. Although the bones were separated, the two eye sockets were still filled with red light, indicating that his life still fell on the skull. Meanwhile, his remaining army could only stare in disbelief.

"God you know, this sword is no ordinary sword. This sword is made of the best special materials my family has ever found" Yuto said, maintaining his flat face, then proceed against those soldiers who looked furious as Yuto had fatally wounded their commander. Shouts of anger, the whirring of swords, the sound of metal clashing, and the sound of bones clashing again filled the air. Meanwhile, from the middle of the soldiers who ran full of vengeance towards Yuto and his brother, Gen Zamoto, a black armored living skull came up to the skull of the Delta Commander. A bright red crystal was embedded in the chest of his jet-black armor. He was an assistant to the Delta Commander, Assistant Commander Xartz.

"Delta Commander, hang in there!!!" he screamed while touching the skull of the Delta with both hands of his skull. "Everything .. will be fine .... It will be fine!!!"

"No. .. I've failed ...." The Delta Commander spoke with a look of despair. "Please .. convey my apology to my superiors and my remaining troops .. after this fight is over .... "

"What are you talking about, Commander Delta?!!" Xartz exclaimed with a loud voice. "You will be saved .. The Magus God's Necromancer magic is capable of healing everything, including reuniting your bones. So, don't die .. because if you die, the Necromancer magic will no longer be possible!!!" Xartz's cries grew louder, though they were covered by the sounds of fighting between the soldiers and Gen and Yuto.

"I. .. have failed .... I have broken the vow of protection of darkness that I once uttered .. in the presence of the God Magus .... I was unable to protect my precious troops .. and now ... both intruders will go up to the next floor after successfully defeating all of us .... This will put our superiors in danger .... I have broken the oath of protector and servant of darkness .... Although I can survive .. my life is no longer useful ...."

Tears began to inundate Xartz's eye sockets, slowly flowing down his cheekbones. "No problem!!! The oath is like a promise between two little children!!! More important now is ...your life, Commander Delta!!!" Xartz continued to shake the skull of the Delta Chief. Both of his hand bones seemed to tremble.

"Don't cry, stupid ...," said the Delta Commander. Though tears also began to flow through his cheekbones. "A soldier of darkness .. will lose his power if he is emotional ...."

"No problem!!! I am even willing to lose all my strength!!!" exciting Xartz. Tears were pouring down his cheekbones. "You ... are a great superior, Commander Delta .... Your life is precious to all of us ...."

"A great idea, yes .... It was only the first time in my life's history that I was filled with failure, that I received praise from my subordinates." The red light that filled the two eye sockets of Commander Delta began to dim. "This will be ... the second greatest happiness of my life ... after the moment I was made commander by the God Magus ...." Right after the remark was thrown out, the red light that lit up in both of the Delta Commander's eye sockets was extinguished completely, leaving behind a dark, empty cavity. His life has left the skull.

Xartz's tears fell, splashing in the shell of the dead skull.

"Commander ... Delta ...."

Dark ....

Everything is very dark here .. filled with dark black. Cold ... The temperature here is very cold piercing.

Am I ... dead?

Yes ... it seems .. This is the end.

The end of my life was filled with failure.

I failed to stop my parents fighting, until they divorced and I ended up in an orphanage. I failed in education, always at the bottom in terms of lessons. I failed in sports, I failed in magic. I can only be an ordinary farmer. However, I failed to protect my field. A strong typhoon blew away all my labor. I failed to protect my village friends. I failed to protect my childhood friends Altz and Rick. I failed to protect my own life. Then, the Magus God gave me a second chance to live, together with Rick and Altz, on the condition that we should become warriors devoted wholeheartedly to him. I tried my hardest, until finally my rank rose to become commander. But again I failed. I failed to protect Altz and Rick for the second time. I failed to protect my precious subordinates. I failed to protect my honorable superiors. I ... have failed in every way ....

There is no point in living .... I will only be a burden to my colleagues, subordinates, and superiors. I ... have failed ....

"Hey, Delta. Aren't the three of us equally lousy kids who often fail?!" The boy's distinctive voice came back to my mind, then the darkness that surrounded me turned into a green meadow, with a large tree standing firmly before me. Right in front of the tree, two children about seven years old were leaning. I recognize them, they're human beings from Altz and Rick. The original form before the Magical God Necromancer magic affected our bodies.

"So, how about we compete? Who is better in terms of lessons, sports, and future work, he wins. This competition will last forever, as long as we have not separated. Maybe it'll lead to an increase in our lousy lives." Little Altz continued his words while smiling defiantly. Without realizing it, I smiled too. The two boys reached out their tiny, milk-white hands. I also extended my tiny hand.

"I accept .. your challenge!!!"

Those beautiful memories were again swallowed up by the dark black color. But now there is something different. My body is vibrating with excitement. The flames of spirit were burning within my heart, blazing incessantly. Without me knowing, I smiled excitedly.

"No!!! It's not over!!! My competition with Altz and Rick is still continuing!!! This is not finished!!! I didn't really fail!!!"

I stepped up excitedly, breaking through the seemingly endless darkness. However, the flames of spirit still raged within my heart, continuing to grow bigger every second of it.

"I ... still have to keep my score!!! I have to stay on top of Altz and Rick!!! This is not my place!!! I must return to the Magus Palace ... and continue my competition with Altz and Rick!!! I can't ... let them level the score!!! I need to keep going, before I get overtaken by the two of them!!! I need to keep moving forward!!! I still have ... third chance!!!"

I understand now .... Relationships between rivals .. can be very close like family. A family doesn't need to have blood relations .. And a house doesn't have to be a place where you grew up with your biological family .... A place ... where people still love you .. and have a relationship with you .. a place where everyone waits for your return ... that's what you can call home!!!

"I will return ... to my true home ...."

"The place where my comrades, my esteemed superiors, and my beloved subordinates are .... Rainzar City ...."

"I will .. keep my score in this competition ..., and leave Altz and Rick far behind ...."

"This burning spirit .. will never be extinguished .. until my competition with Altz and Rick ends ...."

"Yes .. keep moving forward .... That's all I can do for now."
