Chapter 13: Undercover

"But are you sure this is gonna work?" Gen tilted his head with a look of disbelief.

"Calm down, I guarantee you. My acting skills are pretty good. Act as you can, brother," said Yuto while maintaining his flat face.

Gen received the badge with a smile, then put it on his chest. The two men returned across the grimly glowing passageway. Their footsteps echoed in the cement-filled hallway. After a few minutes passed, they finally arrived at the exit of the passageway. An even greater gloom greeted the two young men. Grey clouds roamed the city, accompanied by the Lightning that struck several times. It appeared that dozens of jet-black men were patrolling the deserted road. However, what makes the feathers stand more than that is some living skulls that also patrol the road.

Instantly, both of Yuto and Gen's eyes were wide-eyed. Living skull?! How could?! Is this one of the creations of the Magus God?!

"Hey, we've never seen your faces. Did you guys just join in here?" One of the soldiers opened the conversation while staring at the Magus Badge attached to Gen and Yuto's chest. The dark black armor is decorated with a dark purple motif and two bright red crystals embedded in the chest.

"Yes" said Yuto. "We can't stand the oppression that took place where we came from. After all, defending truth and peace is just nonsense. Strength is what we want. The power of darkness, the great power. True eternal peace is when we have full power over everything!!! We no longer want to be oppressed. Now is the time for the darkness within us to shine!!!"

Gen held a smile with satisfaction."He's good at acting too."

"Yes, that's right." Gen continued the drama. "When we protect something important, it becomes our greatest weakness. Peace, truth, and justice, it's all just bullshit. The savior knight is only in fairy tales. The only thing that gives us eternal happiness is STRENGTH." Gen continues to act like a famous actor who is acting the main antagonist.

"Good spirit, young soldiers." The soldier smiled as he patted Gen and Yuto on the back, then looked towards his friends. Apparently, their acting has succeeded. "For the inauguration of our new comrades, take them to the palace to perform the ritual of the inauguration of the knights of darkness."

"Okay, commander." The two living skulls that were along with the soldier nodded. Apparently, the soldier was a commander.

"Hey, I somehow doubted their intention to join us." One of the living skulls whispered to his companion.

"Hm? But, I don't see any sign of lies in their eyes, speech, or behavior, Altz." The colleague examined a living skull called Altz.

"Indeed, but I don't know why I feel weird" Altz said.

"Well!!" The two skulls gulped, then shouted in unison and immediately flanked Gen and Yuto.

"Come, brother. We're going to the palace to perform the inauguration ritual. By the way, my name is Altz." Altz spoke in a friendly manner while extending his hand. Although he looks creepy, like a ghost in horror movies, apparently his heart is not as cold and hard as Gen and Yuto think. Unfortunately, he had sided with the wrong camp.

"My name is Rick" said another living skull as it extended its arms.

Gen and Yuto also welcomed the helping hand in a friendly and warm manner. Both of them held their smiles with all their might. If they made a mistake, then the disguise that had been painstakingly made would be futile.

"My name is Gen."

"My name is Yuto."

"Greetings. Let's go, Gen's brother and Yuto's brother. That mighty power and absolute power that you desire will soon be yours," altz said as he turned his gaze forward and began to step along a path filled only by the Magus God's men.

Gen smiled a little."They must have never expected to be stabbed in the back."

Quickly, Yuto nudged Gen's shoulder. There could have been a soldier who saw that smile.

"Alright," Gen and Yuto said simultaneously. "Let's go."
