The Hidden World's

The Hidden World's
Chapter 2 The Old Town

Non-rigid. Tonight they really went exploring. But, not everything. There was Nana, Layla, and Arthur accompanying me.

“Huh!” I'm sighing. Even Seli went. Exploring is very tempting, I just really want to go. But, my premonition managed to silence my ambition.

They left hours ago. It's nine o'clock in the night and they're not coming. I'm starting to worry.

“Do we catch up with them? It's not that I'm not afraid, it's just that I'm worried. We never came to this place and although we did find something unique in this forest we also do not know whether it is dangerous or not.” Nana looked at me.

He has a point. Maybe this hunch is just my feeling because only this time I was away from home and was in a creepy foreign place. It's time I got out of the place that locked me up now.

“Yosh!” I'm standing. “We'll catch up with them. We shouldn't be apart like this.”

“Newly aware, Non?” Arthur scrunched his forehead. I wave my hand.

“Then I'll take the flashlight!” Layla walked towards the tent.

“Don't forget the battery.” Arthur reminded. Layla does carry some flashlights with battery power. About ten flashlights. Three of them have been borrowed by Seli, Harry, and Percy. There are seven more flashlights.

Layla exited the tent carrying four flashlights and twenty batteries. Each of us got five batteries. Layla stuck a flashlight and a battery on us. I took a breath, walked in front.

A few hundred meters away from our tent, the atmosphere in this forest was already very different. The towering branches of the trees were like creatures ready to catch us.

“Are I the only one feeling goosebumps?” Arthur held his back neck, staring around. I don't ignore it.

The one who doesn't feel creepy in this forest I don't think he's human. Just imagine if there are people who feel ‘ mediocre' in a dark forest with tall trees without the sound of a single animal. Let alone the sound of animals, even I don't feel any wind in this forest.

The more we entered the forest, the less oxygen I felt. I'm starting to catch my breath. My eyes started to blur. I saw a little boy running towards us. Her white dress looks very shabby. His white skin was covered in thick dust. Her curly red hair was very thick and tangled. The little boy held my wrist. I flinched, reflexively pushing the little boy until he fell.

“Lina!” Layla held my shoulder, shook her head, rushed to help the boy.

“What's your name?” Nana is approaching. The girl stood up, running away from us.

“See, she got scared!” Arthur looked at me flatly.

“It's just a reflex. I'm just surprised.”

“You are surprised by such a sweet little boy?” Arthur looked at me in wonder. I'm silenced. I don't think I'm wrong. I was just surprised because I felt like he wasn't human at all.

We walked back through the forest until we arrived at an unusual place. This area seems divided. The dense forest grass is divided with arid soil. Like two very different worlds. In front of us was a city-like building that might have been abandoned. We could see that the land there was a strong wind. While where we stood, on the thick grass, we did not feel the slight breeze.

“Didn't this look a little weird?” Arthur tilted his head.

“Not a little strange, but very strange.” Nana was looking at the 'other world' in front of us until she didn't blink. I was glued to her. Feelings of admiration, fear, and confusion. I swallowed spit. It turns out my gut feeling was right.

I stepped over the boundary, setting foot on the wasteland. The air in this place is different. Its aura is much lighter, but the presence of oxygen here is also the same at least.

“What are you Lina?” Arthur called out behind me. I looked, squinted my eyes. Arthur scratched his back head.

“Already suspected! You're not Lina. Then who are you?”Arthur stepped back. Nana and Layla step up

overtake me.

“King is a great drama, anyway! If you still want drama we stay.” Nana goes first, followed by me and Layla. Arthur grunts. There is no other choice but to stop the drama.

I think this city has been abandoned for decades or even hundreds of years. Several multi-storey buildings were destroyed and several more are still standing. The glass window is broken. I never knew there was a city like this in the middle of the forest. And what happened to this town? Why was this town abandoned?

We walked through the old town building. There were several gunshots on the walls of the building. Did this town ever have a war? My eyes swept through every corner of the city, until I found a very large building. The building is still standing strong even though it looks worn and all the glass windows have also been destroyed. The building has about a hundred floors. The area of this building is also large. I looked up, squinted, trying to see the top of the building.

“You're in?” Nana stood beside me.

“I don't think it's impossible if we find them there.” Layla looked up.

“After all if they find a building like this they will go straight in without a second thought.” Arthur pointed his flashlight at the entrance made of iron. It looks very heavy. Layla walked up to the door, grabbed him.

“I think it weighs a hundred pounds. Because of this there are two doors so two hundred kilograms.” Layla looked up, looking at the door that was twice the height of Layla. I swallowed spit. Is there a door that heavy? If the door is like this, what about the building? Are all the doors this heavy?

“Arthur, try opening this door!” Layla stepped back.

Arthur shook his head, “Where can I?!”

“We do it together. Arthur and Lina left door, me and Nana right door.” Layla pulls Nana's wrist. I looked at Arthur. He shrugged, walking towards the big door. I'm catching.

Four palms were already pressing on the left door, and four palms were also already pressing on the right door.

“One, two, push!” We push the door at the same time. The door fluttered, not moving a bit.

“I think we're just doing the pointless thing.” Nana threw her hand.

“It should be this big and heavy door has a lever or button to open it.” Arthur looked at the door. I'm aghast.

“That's it!” I hit Arthur's arm. “There should be a lever not far from here. We search, split!” I'm enthusiastic. Arthur and I looked to the left, Layla and Nana looking to the right. After half an hour of searching for the results. We didn't find a lever or a button to open it.

“Is this door indeed opened manually? If yes then need about ten people.” Arthur scolded.

I watched this door from top to bottom. At the bottom of the door Like there's a crack forming a circular. I stepped near the door, crouching.

“See, what do you think this is?” I looked up, pointing at the crack. They walked closer. Arthur pressed the hole until it jutted inward, not long after which the ground shook and the door slowly opened.

“Wow!” We were fascinated to look at him.

“What is this ancient technology? Or magic? It is impossible just by pressing the crack it arrived² the door opens itself in the absence of electricity.” Arthur gawking.

“Except if the architecture of this building installs wires inside the stone!” Nana stepped in. I swallowed spit. This room is very dark. If we don't bring a flashlight, we may not see anything. Unlike what I thought, it turns out that all the rooms in this building have no doors. This building is very dusty. I coughed. We continued to look for the stairs to the next floor. Suddenly the door closed on its own.
