The room was empty for a moment. After Percy, Harry, and Liya told each other in turn, we all just fell silent. It happened three years ago. Isn't that too cruel? How can there be such a human being?
"Ah, I changed my mind. Let's go save them." Arthur stands. His gaze looks so firm. Implied a very deep sinanity from the look of his eyes.
"Now do you understand, Arthur? You were the first person to oppose such a decision. But in the end, you're also the first one to agree to it." Liya sighed, smiling as she let out a soft ruckus sound.
"So, you guys also agreed to take on this troublesome role?" Harry stood up from his seat, staring at us in turn.
"Before you decide, I'll give you a picture of the risks you'll bear." A familiar voice in my ear suddenly broke the atmosphere. In the corner of the room, the figure of a person slowly began to be seen.
"I'm sorry I infiltrated and eavesdropped on your conversation. Honestly, at first I wasn't sure. But after observing you with my own eyes, I became convinced. I'm sure you're not the kind of people I think you are." Yamato walked towards us. He's changed his clothes. The clothes he was wearing right now were not much different from the ones Liya was wearing. Just different colors.
"What do you mean not as you think?" Arthur's irritating nature returns. Haaah, this kid. Can't he just shut up for a second? Well, even so I also want to know the answer that Yamato will give.
"I'd like to apologize before for prejudging you. I thought you were spies sent by them."
"Haha?!!" Arthur gawked, staring at Yamato in disbelief. Do we look like traitors? That is what Arthur's expression says.
"We can't blame him either. It's all written in the prophecy book. Lina, try opening the book. There are markers I've placed to mark important parts. Open the fifth marker." Liya pointed a finger at the book that I was holding.
Without a second thought, I immediately did as Liya commanded. I count the markers to the fifth marker, then open the page of the book. It was full of foreign letters. I looked up, looked at Liya, asking for an explanation.
"See the tenth row on the right sheet."
I count the lines from top to bottom. Until I finally found a book I couldn't read.
"When the appointed day has come, beware of the friend who will take away everything." Liya.
"Without me saying it, you'll know what it means, right?"
Well, I get it. "The friend who took everything" might be meant as a traitor. The person who pretended to be our friend and suddenly stabbed us either from the front or from behind. The situation is getting more complicated nowadays.
"Alright, now it's my turn to give you an explanation of what kind of consequences you'll have if you're willing to take on the role." Yamato looked at us seriously. I know taking on a role like this is not easy.
"Who are you if you have to lose one part of the body or even have to lose your life? The role you will take is not the role of a figure. But you will be the main cast when the appointed day has come." Yamato let out a slow breath.
I'm looking forward to hearing that. I knew the consequences would be severe, but I didn't think I had to sacrifice my life.
"If you feel inadequate, you can reject it. This has nothing to do with you guys anyway. I thank you for your intention to help. But I reiterate again, if you really want to continue in this role, then you must be ready to lose everything around you right now."
"I'm ready!" I firmly volunteered. Death is scary, but what is scarier than death? The endless torment. If everyone here is going to experience the same thing that Yamato experienced, then there is no reason for me to reject it.
"I know and I'm ready for it."
"What made you come this far? We have absolutely no relationship."
"Because seeing them reminds me of you, Yamato. Reminds me of the people I have to protect."
"I'll come too!"
"I'll do it!"
"Well, there's no harm, right? We're gonna be heroes and die heroes."
"Stupid, you think I need your protection? I am the older one among you. So, shouldn't I be the one protecting you?" Yamato walked towards me. His big hand gently stroked my messy hair.
"Basic tsundere!" Mery sneered from behind the door.
"Tsundere?" Yamato furrowed an eyebrow while staring at the wooden door. I chuckled softly at Yamato's reaction.
"You're the one who can't be honest with yourself." I pinched Yamato's nose. He looked surprised when I did that. Can't you hold your nose in this world?
"really? You guys are weird."
"Because we're a bunch of freaks!"
The sound of laughter floated on the ceiling of the room. Of course I laughed with them. Maybe this will be the last chance we can have a conversation with a laugh like this. No one knows what the future scenario will look like. But I hope it all ends well. If this is a story, I hope for a happy ending.
"You better clean yourself up. How many days have you not had a shower? Look at your bodies! Dirty, dirty, messy, still good luck nothing smells." Yamato bowed, watching us while making a lip.
It has been a long time since I last washed my body with water. I forgot that I haven't had a shower because of the problems that keep coming.
"Go downstairs. There's already a waiter who will take you to the hot spring. Enjoy your bath time. Make sure to cleanse the entire body. I'm sure you'll feel a lot better after that."
I'm nodding. The more I noticed, it turned out that Yamato was a warm person. Surely he went through heavy things that made him forced to become this kind of person. Although there is no happy ending for me, I hope there will be a happy ending for him.
"Let's go, I'll take you to the front door." Yamato waved at us.
"Is he really that warm person?" Layla whispered softly in my ear. I know, they must have been surprised by his attitude. I am also included. If only I could have met Yamato before the incident three years ago. I wonder what kind of person he really is.
