(S2): Cupid Fountain END

Lizzie finally arrives at the Corbin family home. He smiled when he saw Fanya's house and he was surprised to see the busyness that happened there. Will there be a party at Fanya's house? Ask in the heart. Fanyavter's house looks very crowded. The tables have been decorated with gold-colored tablecloths and the edges have been decorated with ribbons and flowers.

In the distance Lizzie saw Fanya's mother giving instructions to a woman carrying flowers. Lizzie ran up to him. ‘’Good afternoon lady Corbin!’’

"Ah Lizzie, finally you came too. Fanya's waiting for you in her room. I'm glad you came. Thank you for meeting Fanya's invitation."

"I'll see him."

Lizzie went straight into the house with a happy heart . Fanya's room opens and Lizzie is again surprised to see Fanya's very beautiful appearance in a peach-colored muslin dress. A woman is doing her hair.

"Fanya,"he said.

Fanya turned her head and she smiled happily at Lizzie. Fanya told the woman who dressed her up to leave her alone with Lizzie.

"I'm glad you've come. Sit wherever you want."

Lizzir chose to sit on the edge of the bed.

"What's going on here?"

Fanya smiled mysteriously. "Aren't you able to guess it?’’

Lizzie seems to think for a while.’’No."

"Today I will be engaged to Eric Andrews,’’ Fanya said. Lizzie's heart seemed to jump out. He could not believe what he had heard.

"You're getting engaged to Eric Andrews?’’

"Yes,’’kata Fanya.

"But how can it be instead that you love Vladimir?’’

"Me and Vladimir have nothing to do anymore. It turns out that Eric's been secretly in love with me. When Eric found out, me and Vladimir broke up, he immediately struck a deal with me for the past month. Eric loved me and loved me. He proposed to me a week ago and I accepted.  What Vladimir said was right. Someday I'll find a man who really loves me and I've found him and that man is Eric."

Fanya smile gently.’’It's hard to forget about Vladimir, but I've tried to forget him little by little and Eric's love has filled the emptiness of my heart . He has made me laugh and smile again and he has always given all his attention to me .  I felt a genuine love from him. Vladimir wasn't meant for me. When you're sick, he worries about you a lot and is always waiting for you in the hospital. I can see that Vladimir loves you very much. I finally realized, Vladimir could never love me as much as he loved you. As long as I was her lover, I never got such a love gaze from her."

"Do you love Eric?’’

Lizzie already knew the answer from the happy twinkle in Fanya's eyes.

‘’I love her,’’Answer Fanya without any hint of hesitation in her voice. ‘’For this one month , Eric has made me fall in love with all the care and sincerity he has given just for me."

"It really surprised me. You're gonna marry our classmate."

"Now Vladimir is yours. You better just accept his feelings lest you regret it later."

Fanya blinked her eyes at Emily.

"But...’’.

"I don't want to hear your reasons for not accepting Vladimir because of me. Look at me ! My life is now happy with Eric."

Fanya smiled back while still seeing the doubt in Lizzie's eyes.

"I want you to pursue your happiness with the one you love. Do you still love her?’’

"I love him,’’ said Lizzie shyly and her cheeks felt hot as she imagined Vladimir's face.

"Then you have to tell him."

Lizzie smiled, then nodded.

"Amor vincit omnia,’’word Fanya.’’Love will defeat everything."

"Your love has indeed defeated me in getting Vladimir, but I have found a good man and love me sincerely."

Lizzie hugged Fanya and cried. He feels lucky to have a friend like Fanya. For him Fanya is the only one in the world. Lizzie wiped her tears then laughed along with Fanya.

‘’Does Vladimir know you will be engaged today?’’

"Yes. Vladimir knows and he congratulates me."

Fanya's engagement party went smoothly and Fanya looked very happy. At the party, Lizzie is able to meet her old friends and teachers. Fanya's engagement party is then used as a reunion venue.

It has been a week since Lizzie's return from Zelenogradsk and until now she still has no chance to talk to Vladimir and Lizzie has missed him too.

Lately Vladimir looks very busy and rarely visits Sergei. Actually Lizzie really wanted to contact him, but she was afraid to bother him, so she preferred to keep quiet until she saw Vladimir at her grandfather's house.

"You why?’’sergei asked as they were in the backyard enjoying the afternoon sun in the fall.

"Nothing,’’Lizzie listless.

"Really?’’asked Sergei in disbelief.

"really. We better get inside. I've been feeling cold,’’ said Lizzie trying to avoid her grandfather's question.

Lizzie stood up, then pushed Sergei who was in a wheelchair into the house. Just as they were entering, Lizzie saw Vladimir in his casual clothes coming over . He smiled at her and she looked amazingly handsome.

Vladimir greeted them and Lizzie was happy to see Vladimir back. For a week, he missed that guy.

"I want to talk to you,’’ Vladimir told Sergei.

"All right."

Then Sergei looked at Lizzie.

"Lizzie, please leave us alone!’’

‘’Good."

Lizzie turned around, but she had looked back to see Vladimir talking to her grandfather. 

 "What do you want to talk to me about?’’asked Sergei as they had arrived at the living room.

"I've decided to move to a branch of my father's law firm in Boston."

Sergei let out a long sigh and his countenance was disappointed by Vladimir's decision. ‘’Are you sure of your decision?’’ask Sergei.

"What about Lizzie? ‘’

Vladimir smiled sadly. "It looks like I'm going to give up on getting it."

"Do you not love her anymore?’’

"I love him and will always love him."

"Then don't go. Stay here!’’

"This is the main reason why I moved to Boston, because I didn't want to be anywhere near her. It would be very sad for me, if I kept being around him while Lizzie wouldn't let me love him."

"I want to see you two get married."

"I can't marry her, if Lizzie won't accept me in her life."

"Please think again! Who knows Lizzie changed her mind."

Vladimir sighs long.’’ The possibility is very small. Lizzie cares more about her friendship than I do. Sometimes I feel jealous of Fanya, because Fanya means more to her than I do."

Sergei smile.’’So you're jealous of Fanya now? Come on Vladimir ! You have to understand the relationship between the two. Fanya is his best friend and Lizzie loves him."

"I know that."

"Before you go, ask Lizzie to talk once more about your relationship, if Lizzie still refuses you, you can go to Boston if she accepts you, you must marry her."

Vladimir did not want to let Sergei down and finally he replied,‘’well. I'll talk to him."

"Thank you,’’he said with a big smile.

Vladimir finds Lizzie talking to Milly in the living room.’’ Lizzie, I want to talk to you."

"I'll leave you two,’’ Milly said.

Vladimir turned his attention to Lizzie. Their eyes met and Vladimir never let go of his gaze making Lizzie seem to stop breathing. 

‘’Meet me tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock right at the cupid fountain. There's something I want to tell you. I'll be waiting for you there tomorrow afternoon. If you don't come it means I won't bother you anymore."

Without saying anything more, Vladimir left immediately. By the time Lizzie had come to her senses from her fascination with Vladimir , the man had left without her having said a single word.

The next afternoon, Vladimir sat on the edge of the cupid fountain in the backyard of the Romanov mansion. Every now and then he saw that his watch should have arrived five minutes ago.

With his body shivering with coldness, he remained waiting for the girl there.  Vladimir put his coat around his neck and hoped Lizzie would come soon. Minutes by minutes passed, Lizzie hadn't arrived . Vladimir rubbed his hands and blew his hands to keep them warm. His head looked up at the sky.  An hour had passed and he was waiting for Lizzie who had not come.

Vladimir smiled sadly. Now he knows the answer. The girl will never want to accept her feelings even though her sad heart has been rejected by the woman she loves, she will send Lizzie away from her life. Vladimir did not expect that his first love would end just like that.

Vladimir took a deep breath preparing to leave. He could not wait too long, because the plane that would take him to Boston would soon depart. Vladimir stood up and before he left the park, he once again looked around the park and hoped Lizzie would appear and call him. His facial expression looked sad and with a heavy heart, Vladimir left the park while saying,’’Goodbye!’’

Just as Vladimir stepped two steps away from the cupid fountain, he heard someone call him. ‘’Vladimir! ‘’shouting someone . Vladimir Langsumg turned his body upside down, he saw Lizzie standing not far from him with hunting breath.

"Lizzie."

Vladimir's blue eyes were beaming at the arrival of Lizzie. The girl smiled at him. A red hue was clearly visible on his face. Lizzie walked up to him . ‘’I'm sorry I came late,’’he said. 

Slowly the smile fell on Vladimir's handsome face. ‘’I don't think you're coming."

Lizzie stared timidly at Vladimir. ‘’So I fell asleep and got lost in the park looking for the cupid fountain you mean."

"So that's why you came late?’’.

Lizzie nods her head ‘’Sorry."

Vladimir's blue eyes staring sharply at Lizzie made the girl misbehave.’’ I told you to come here because I have something to say."

Vladimir was silent for a moment. ‘’I love you,’’he said. ‘’This time I don't expect you to return my feelings. I just want you to know before I leave Russia."

"You're going?’’ask her with a hoarse voice. His eyes began to glaze over and he tried to keep his tears from spilling.

Vladimir nodded.’’I'm going to Boston and live there."

Vladimir stroked Lizzie's hair and her eyes looked cute.’’Take good care of yourself ! Goodbye!’

Vladimir then turned around and Lizzie observed Vladimir's departure. The tears that had accumulated in his eyes had finally spilled.

"You haven't heard my answer,’’yell Lizzie

Vladimir stopped walking, then turned his body.

‘’Do you not want to know what my answer is?’’

The two stared at each other from a distance. ‘’I love you Vladimir Alexein, ’’shout Lizzie with all my might to the point that the bird that perches in the tree flies out.  Vladimir walked quickly and in just a few steps, he was already in front of Lizzie. ‘’What's true you said earlier?’’

‘’Ya. I love you and I beg you not to go!’’

Lizzie used the sleeves of her coat to wipe away her tears. Vladimir smiled and his face beamed, he pulled Lizzie into his arms and stroked her hair. ‘’I'm glad to hear it and thank you for loving me."

Lizzie let go of his embrace and looked at Vladimir and both of his hands were folded around Vladimir's neck.

  ‘’Do not go!’’said.

Lizzie touched her lips to Vladimir's.  Vladimir then placed his hand around Lizzie's waist and pulled her closer. He returns Lizzie's kiss which makes the girl forget her surroundings. Until something cold touched their faces. A few snowflakes fell on their faces and then they laughed, both of them puffed their heads up into the sky and saw the first snow fall with happy smiles on their faces. [ ]
