CHAPTER 71. Ming Lan's Plan
***ZHONG LI BEDROOM***
Zhong Li aka King sat contemplating while thinking of Prince Bei Chen Yi and Princess Bei Chen Hsuang.
The matter of General Zhong Guo and his troops who conducted an incentive and thorough inspection for one week but did not find a single caterpillar in the northern Peach Flower residence was already known by King. The king suspected that someone had helped Prince Bei Chen Yi and Princess Bei Chen Hsuang secretly.
"Could it be Ming Lan who helped Prince Bei Chen Yi and Princess Bei Chen Hsuang?" said King's heart.
If it was true that Ming Lan was a spy from the Bei Ming Kingdom, then the King should behave more carefully and vigilantly. It was possible that Prince Bei Chen Yi or Princess Bei Chen Hsuang would order Ming Lan to do something to him.
King was sure that Prince Bei Chen Yi and Princess Bei Chen Hsuang for a while would not intervene to directly harm him , ming Lan was the only chess piece that Prince Bei Chen Yi and Princess Bei Chen Hsuang could use.
Moments later, King heard a knock on the door from outside.
"Mr Zhong Li!" said A Tu from outside the bedroom.
"Come in!" said King .
King sat leaning on the bed as he normally would and his eyes looked the other way with blank eyes.
Hercules was in the kitchen preparing lunch . Xena was given a special assignment by King.
King asked Xena to make some medicinal herbs to repel insects especially caterpillars. Ever since King saw a horde of caterpillars that were like ant nests come out of Chong Ren's body in the Peach Flower residence, King couldn't help his disgust . At least in the presence of the medicinal herbs from Xena, the insects would not get close to King even though King knew there must be some stronger caterpillars and would not be affected by the medicinal herbs.
A Tu walked inside the bedroom while carrying some new clothes in his hands. All the new clothes were neatly folded.
"Young master Zhong Li! Madam Ming Lan bought you new clothes. Young master Zhong Min also bought the same new clothes," A Tu said.
An innocent Tu still did not know Ming Lan had hired a hit man to kill Zhong Li and all his servants on his way to the Tao Shrine some time ago.
Ming Lan told A Tu to deliver new clothes to Zhong Li on the grounds that the new clothes were in preparation for Zhong Li's marriage to Princess Jing Mi in the near future.
A Tu did not feel suspicious of anything as he saw Zhong Min also being bought new clothes by Ming Lan so A Tu felt these new clothes were safe and harmless towards Zhong Li thus bringing him along to Zhong Li's bedroom.
"Save!" king said with a blank eye.
A Tu opened the wardrobe and stored all the new clothes in the still empty drawer.
Zhong Li's keen sense of smell allowed King to smell the fragrance of flowers spreading from the new clothes.
This floral scent was not the fragrant soap that A Tu used to wash King's clothes so King became increasingly suspicious.
"A Tu! Have you washed your new clothes?" ask King.
"Said Madame Ming Lan, this new outfit was made of delicate and expensive silk cloth so it forbade me to wash it. Aunt A Mei who washes, dries and folds before giving it to me," replied A Tu innocently.
King knew Aunt A Mei was Ming Lan's personal servant and had served Ming Lan for decades. Aunt A Mei was a respected servant at the residence of General Zhong Guo. It could be said that Aunt A Mei was the big boss or elder of the servants of General Zhong Guo's residence.
The King who heard A Tu's words was increasingly convinced that something was wrong with the new clothes Ming Lan bought .
Had it not been for Zhong Li's keen sense of smell, King would not have been able to tell the fragrance of his new clothes was so different from the fragrance of the clothes King used to wear.
The scent of Ming Lan and Zhong Min's clothes was not even the fragrance of the flowers that were smelling right now.
"I'll have Xena check it out. Ming Lan must have sprinkled something onto that new outfit. I don't know what other drama Ming Lan will play now" King's heart said.

After lunch together, King accidentally told A Tu to help Hercules bring a dirty plate to the kitchen and wash it because he wanted to talk to Xena.
"Xena! Check the new clothes that A Tu brought. A Tu kept it in the closet !" said King.
"Okay, young master Zhong Li!" xena said obediently.
Xena took out new clothes from the silk cloth that was inside the wardrobe and inspected them one by one carefully.
Xena thought King suspected that there was a maggot stuck to the new outfit so King asked her to check it out.
Ten minutes later, Xena had already checked all the new clothes and found nothing.
"Young master Zhong Li! There are no caterpillars in this new outfit" Xena said.
"My nose is very sensitive. I smelled a strange floral scent of new clothes" King said.
Xena slowly brought her nose closer to the new clothes and smelled the scent. A few moments later Xena closed her nose quickly.
King noticed Xena's reflex movements from his blank eyes.
"My guess is not wrong!" said King's heart.
"Young master Zhong Li's sense of smell is great. This new outfit was deliberately given a poisonous floral fragrance. If inhaled continuously will make someone go crazy suddenly," said Xena.
"It turns out so. How many days will the poison reaction appear? " ask King.
"Three days!" answer Xena.
Xena knew the silk clothes had just been brought by A Tu into Zhong Li's room so Zhong Li had not been exposed to the effects.
"Xena will get rid of this new outfit!" said Xena.
"No need! " said King calmly.
"Xena! You can make the same poison and antidote, right?" ask King.
"Can, young master Zhong Li!" said Xena.
"Make the poison and the antidote now! Her new clothes were left in the wardrobe to make Ming Lan unsuspecting. I'm sure Ming Lan still has other plans against me" King said.
"Okay, young master Zhong Li!" xena answered obediently.
Day after day passed by King calmly without any interference from anyone. Ming Lan routinely bought different new clothes for Zhong Li and of course all the new clothes were washed by A Mei and A Tu who put them in the wardrobe.
"Basar old fox! It is unmitigated to poison Zhong Li every day!" heart of King .
King had already eaten the antidote made by Xena so that the smell of the poisonous flowers from the new clothes had no adverse effect on King's body.
On the third day, General Zhong Guo had already departed early in the morning to Emperor Wang's palace to discuss the issue of the peace alliance of Xi Xia Kingdom, Nan Yun Kingdom and Bei Ming Kingdom.
King was sure that today Ming Lan would definitely carry out his ultimate plan since General Zhong Guo was not in the residence .
A while later A Tu knocked on Zhong Li's bedroom door.
"Young master Zhong Li!" said A Tu from outside the room.
"Come in!" replied King calmly.
"What's early in the morning already looking for young master Zhong Li?" ask Hercules.
Hercules was curious about A Tu who entered Zhong Li's bedroom with a panicked face.
"Mrs Ming Lan invited the Taoist priest to General Zhong Guo's residence to chase away the water ghost," A Tu said nervously as he glanced at the King.
"Water ghost? Where's where?" ask Hercules.
"On the body of young master Zhong Li," A Tu replied in a small voice and lowered his head.
A Tu felt guilty towards Zhong Li because he had to execute orders from Ming Lan. Whereas during Zhong Li's personal service, A Tu was sure in Zhong Li's body there was absolutely no water ghost as rumored a while ago.
"Mother told you to take me out?" ask King casually.
"Yes!" answer A Tu.
"All right! A Tu! You lead me there!" said King.
***FRONT OF RESIDENCE GENERAL ZHONG GUO***
A Tu led King to the front room of General Zhong Guo's residence slowly.
King glanced at the room. There was an altar table containing an offering and an incense container. Two gray-clothed Taoist priests stood in front of the altar table. While Ming Lan and Zhong Min were sitting on the front room seats to wait for Zhong Li to come out.
"Zhong Li!" ming Lan said as she stood up from her seat and walked up to the King. Ming Lan embraced King's arm with his arm as if the mother-daughter relationship between the two of them was very close.
"Zhong Li's! Soon you will be married to Princess Jing Mi. But the outside gossip about you being possessed by a water ghost can ruin your good name. Mother had already invited the Taoist priest from the Tao Temple to expel the water ghost spirit from your body. Whether or not there is a water ghost spirit, these two Taoist priests will definitely do their best for your safety" Ming Lan said at length.
"Good, Mother! I don't want Princess Jing Mi to cancel an arranged marriage like Princess Xing Xing. What am I supposed to do now?" asked King in panic
"Basic fool! It's easy to lie!" heart of Ming Lan .
"You sit by the altar. These two Taoist priests would recite incantations to exorcise the water ghost spirit," Ming Lan said.
"Good, Mommy!" replied King obediently.
Ming Lan led King towards the altar table and sat King in a chair that was right in front of the altar table. Both Taoist priests lit incense and stuck it in the place of incense.
The smoke from the incense slowly headed towards the King who was sitting right before the altar table. King could clearly smell the scent of the poison flower from the incense, which was the same floral scent in all of his new clothes. But the smoke from this incense emits the scent of its poisonous flowers tenfold.
"It turns out Ming Lan's goal is to see me go crazy all of a sudden right now," King's heart said.
King sat quietly with an empty eye. Hercules and Xena stood not far from King's seat. Xena had already inserted a single batch of antidote into Hercules' mouth secretly without Ming Lan and Zhong Min's knowledge.
Xena guessed that the incense smoke must have been problematic and contained poison like the one in Zhong Li's new clothes.
King tried to catch a glimpse of the faces of the two Taoist priests with his blank eye gaze as Zhong Li's sense of smell gave a signal that King knew the two Taoist Priests.
"A Tai and A Shang?" said King's heart.
