In Surah Al-Baqarah [2] verse 142, Allah SWT explains why the Qibla movement was carried out. When Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina, about 16-17 months after the hijrah, Allah ordered the Prophet to face the Haram (Ka'bah) mosque.
This transfer is intended, that the prayer service is not only facing the mosque al-Haram or Al-Aqsa as a destination, but facing God. And as for the Kaaba is as a unifier of Muslims in determining the direction of the qibla.
