Prophet's Story
THE STORY OF PROPHET YA'QUB AS

Prophet Jacob AS is a figure of a father who loves his children. The story of Prophet Yaqub should be an example for every parent, especially the fathers. The prophet Jacob was the 10th prophet and apostle.

Prophet Jacob continued to preach his parents, Prophet Isaac AS and his grandfather Prophet Ibrahim AS. Jacob also bequeathed his mission to the son, Prophet Yusuf AS.

Jacob grew up with his twin brother, Ishu. They lived in harmony until a dispute arose and Jacob was asked to meet his uncle, Laban. Isaac also sent a message for Jacob to study and marry his uncle's son.

Jacob made the arduous journey through the desert with strong winds and storms. Throughout the journey, Jacob always prays and hopes for protection from Allah SWT.

When he arrived at Fadan Aram, Jacob immediately looked for Laban's uncle's house. Jacob found Laban's house after being asked to follow the beautiful woman who was the son of Laban.

Jacob was warmly welcomed. During the conversation, Jacob conveyed his father's message to marry Laban's son. Laban has two beautiful daughters, Laiya and Rahil.

Laban accepted the request but on the condition of dowry worked for seven years on his farm.

After seven years of work, Jacob announced his request to marry Rahil. However, Laban said Jacob could not marry Rahil because he had an unmarried brother. Therefore, Jacob must marry Laiya first. Jacob would marry Rahil if he worked another seven years on the farm.

Jacob obeyed his uncle's request. He married Laiya and worked another seven years to marry Rahil. In those days, marrying a brother and sister was still allowed.

After marrying Laiya and Rahil, the Prophet Jacob married two other women, the slaves Laiya and Rahil. Of his four wives, Jacob had 12 children.

From Rahil was born the 11th son named Joseph. After that, Bunyamin was born the 12th child.

The prophet Jacob gave equal care and affection to all his children, including the two youngest Joseph and Bunyamin. However, to Joseph and Bunyamin, Jacob saw an advantage over the other 10 children.

The other children also felt that Jacob loved Joseph and Bunyamin more. They often ruled over Joseph and Bunyamin.

Until one day, the prophet Jacob called his sons and told them not to be unjust to their own brothers. The ten sons of Jacob did not accept his father's advice because they felt accused of tyranny to their brother.

One day, Joseph came to the prophet Jacob and told him of a new dream. Joseph dreamed of seeing the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowing down to him.

Jacob said that the dream was a good sign. One day Joseph will be made a prophet. Jacob began to teach Joseph many religious sciences. But, this actually led to the jealousy of other children.

Jealousy brought the sons of Jacob to harm Joseph. While shepherding, Joseph was thrown into a dry old well. The ten children then reported to their father that Joseph was attacked by wolves and separated from them.

Hearing the story of his son, Jacob was sad. He continued to pray for Joseph's salvation.

Upon arrival in Egypt, the sons of the Prophet Jacob meet the Adviser to the King of Egypt, who turns out to be their brother, Joseph. The ten brothers did not realize they were dealing with Joseph. At that time, Joseph was saved by the merchant who passed by in the old well.

Joseph gave his brother abundant food. He advised that if they run out, they can come back on condition of bringing their youngest brother, Bunyamin.

When the food was gone, the ten eldest brothers again asked the Prophet Jacob for permission to go to Egypt while carrying Bunyamin. However, the prophet Jacob feared the same thing for Joseph to happen to Bunyamin.

"How shall I entrust him (Bunyamin) to you, as I have entrusted his brother (Joseph) to you first?" the Prophet Jacob said according to the letter of Joseph verse 64.

The sons of Joseph begged and promised to keep Bunyamin. Jacob allowed Bunyamin to leave.

In Egypt, Bunyamin met Joseph. Joseph also confessed to his brother that he was the brother who was thrown into the well. The ten brothers apologized to Joseph.

Joseph asked his brothers to return to Palestine to bring their father and live in Egypt together.

Upon arrival in Palestine, the sons of the Prophet Yusuf called his father. They met Joseph and apologized to his father

The prophet Jacob said he had asked God to forgive his son's sins. The prophet Jacob went with his sons to Egypt.

"I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Verily, He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful." Jacob said according to Joseph's letter 98.

The prophet Jacob went with his sons to visit Egypt.

Jacob and his son Joseph were reunited with the atmosphere.

"I will ask forgiveness for you"

From the story of the Prophet Jacob it can be known that the Prophet Jacob is an example of a father who loves his children.

The prophet Jacob taught his children to care for and love one another.
