Joseph had 12 brothers and was handsome and spoiled by his father. However, his birth mother died when he was 12 years old.
The excessive affection he obtained from the Prophet Jacob made the envy and envy of the brothers who embody the plot to attract the attention of their father. They plan to kill him.
Yahudza, the fourth son of Jacob and the most handsome and wise among them disagreed with the plot of the murder because the treatment was forbidden. So, in order to drive Joseph away, he planned to throw him into an 'old well' located at the crossroads where trade caravans and travelers rested. With that, it is likely that Joseph would be rescued from the well and taken by anyone to be made a slave.
The Qur'an begins the story of Joseph when he was young. He dreamed of seeing eleven planets, the sun, and the moon prostrate on him (Joseph 12 verse 4).
He told his father, Jacob, not to tell his jealous brothers the dream (Joseph 12 verse 5).
His father said, "Hi my son, do not tell your brothers about the dream, for it will cause malice in their hearts that they will be tempted by Satan to set you up on a scheme to harm them. They will deceive and commit treason against you. Satan is a very real enemy of man. (5)
The Prophet Joseph was also Jacob's most beloved son, so his brother was jealous and they planned a plan to banish Joseph (Joseph verse 8).
That is, when Joseph's brothers said to their neighbor, "Surely Joseph and his siblings were loved more by our father than by ourselves, we are a strong group and more beneficial to our father than both of them. By more than we begotten Joseph and his brother, our father was far from the truth. The truth is very clear." (8)
The brothers of the Prophet Yusuf alaihissalam asked the Prophet Jacob for permission to take the Prophet Yusuf as away with them, and they were allowed. On the way, Joseph was put in a well and left by his brothers until he was found by a trading caravan that later sold him in Egypt. The man who bought Joseph was Qithfir, a king of Egypt who had the nickname Al Aziz.
The story of the Prophet Yusuf alaihissalam in the Qur'an is said to be the most handsome man in the world. This statement is described when Joseph was growing up a teenager, his master's wife Zulaikha teased him for not being able to resist his good looks and every woman who saw him must have been amazed, but Joseph refused him (Joseph verse 23).
The woman whose house was occupied by Joseph under his authority wanted to seduce Joseph so that he would marry him. The woman drew near to Joseph and revealed the beauty of his body. He shut all the doors tightly and said, "Come closer to me, I have prepared myself for you." Joseph said, "I seek refuge in Allah from all evil. How could I do that with you while your noble husband is my master who has positioned me well? Surely there will be no good luck for those who wronged men by betraying them." (23)
So he threatened that Joseph would be imprisoned, if he did not follow his orders (Joseph verse 32).
Al-Aziz's wife commented on their talk by saying, "That handsome young man who has charmed you and amazed you is what makes you scorn me.
Joseph was the grandson of Ishaq, his complete genealogy was Yusuf ibn Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Azar ibn Nahur ibn Suruj ibn Ra'u ibn Falij ibn 'Abir bin Shalih bin Arfahsad bin Sham bin Noah. Joseph was the seventh son (there are sources saying the eleventh son) Jacob and Joseph had a mother known as Rahil (Rahel) with his sister, Bunyamin (Benyamin). Joseph married a girl named Ashenath and had two children named Manessa (Manasseh) and Ephiraim (Ephraim).
While Ibn Kathir in his book Qishashul Anbiya’ wrote that Joseph married Ra’il bint Ra’ayil, the widow of Qithfir, then two sons were born, namely Afrayim and Mansa.

The story of Joseph as in the Qur'an
The Qur'an begins the story of Joseph when he was young.
I had asked him and tried to persuade him to fulfill my invitation, but he was reluctant, as if he were awake and he wanted to keep looking after him. Indeed, if he does not obey my command, he will be thrown into prison and will be humiliated." (32)
However, Joseph remained steadfast and he was eventually imprisoned (Joseph verse 33).
Joseph said, having heard the menace of al-Aziz's wife and also heard the women's advice to obey her wishes, "My Lord, prison I prefer to be with them than they ask me. For it means breaking your commandments. If only You had not protected me from their treason and deceit, I would have been inclined to follow them, so that I was among the fools and the guilty." (33)
In the Prophet Yusuf's Acts it is further told that in prison, they knew that Joseph had high honesty and could interpret dreams (Joseph verse 36).
And Joseph entered into the prison two young men from the king's servant. One of them said to Joseph, "I dreamt of squeezing wine to make a maze." Others said, "I dreamt of bringing bread on my head, and some of it was eaten by birds. Tell us, O Joseph, the judgment of our dreams and the end of our fates according to the guidance of the dream. Verily, We firmly believe that you are among those who have good qualities and the ability to dream well." (36)
The Prophet Yusuf succeeded in interpreting the dreams of 2 other prisoners, their dream was that one of them would be put to death, and the other would be released and return to work as a potable water of the king. So Joseph asked his friend who was to be released to present the matter to the king. However, when he was released, he forgot about Joseph, so he remained imprisoned.
The story of the Prophet Yusuf is further told that a few years later, the king had a dream and asked what it meant. The drinker finally remembered Nasbi Yusuf a.s., and he asked the Prophet Yusuf as what the dream of the king meant. The prophet Joseph interpreted the king's dream that there would be seven harvests in abundance, followed by seven little harvests, and then there was a year full of rain. The king, hearing Joseph's interpretation, finally called him. However, Joseph asked those who accused him to be asked what was really going on. Zulaicha finally confessed what he had done to Joseph. Joseph was finally released and the king wanted him to work for him. Joseph finally asked that he be assigned to take care of the produce of the earth in the land.
During the predicted years of famine, the brothers of the Prophet Yusuf came to Egypt to ask for food. They were allowed to face Joseph who knew them, but they did not. Joseph asked them if they wanted to ask for more food, they were required to bring their youngest brother. They finally brought their youngest brother to their next meeting. It was to his youngest brother that Joseph revealed his story that he was wronged by his brothers. Joseph eventually worked with his brother. His sister was temporarily left with him. Joseph pretended that his brother was arrested for stealing the king's drinking glass. At that very moment, Jacob lost his sight because he felt the loss of Joseph and his brother.
The story of the Prophet Joseph is further told that when the brothers of Joseph came again to him, Joseph revealed his true identity to them. Joseph's brothers eventually apologized for their actions. Joseph then asked them to bring his clothes to his father and rub them on his father's face to restore his sight and also ordered them to bring their parents and family to Egypt. After arriving in Egypt, his parents and brothers prostrated themselves in his honor. Joseph then recalls his dreams of youth interpreted by his father; eleven planets, the sun, and the moon bowed to him.
