The Past

The car Gray was driving stopped suddenly. Carine was still in shock, at what Gray said with great emphasis. He chose to stare at the glass of the door next to him.

Awkward and embarrassing.

“Ba, only now do you say so, huh?! Why wait for centuries before everything is revealed?” carine protest, kind of stammered. The woman was still staring at the door. He was still thinking, Gray's words just now still didn't feel serious.

“How many times, I said that? Why do you still not believe it too? Even now, you still don't believe me” Gray responded. “Te, continues? Why did you stop?! Didn't you say you were going to show me something? Until far here anyway” reply Carine diverted. “I quit, because you pissed me off!” grunts Gray.

Carine looked back to the front. This time, he looked down. While Gray, seemed to also continue the journey.

Throughout the trip, they did not talk much. It could even be said, they were deliberately silent. The situation is really confusing.

Carine, who still feels strange and incredulous, will be a phrase from Gray. And Gray, who was upset because of the reply he got from Carine. However, Gray was a little understood. What he did was really too late.

“It's not hard indeed, to make you sure. But, I promise. In this era, I will strive to improve our relationship. Because, this is the only chance to fix the whole” Gray chirped, after a very long silence. Carine only replied with one nod. “I hope, you allow me to accompany you to fight” Carine replied later.

“No, for that one, I still won't allow you”

“You're worried, because my energy comes from your body, right? I told you, everything has changed”

“That's the hundredth reason. You want another very important reason and in fact, to be the main one?”

“I don't want to hear it”

“I'm worried about you, like I am. I worry about myself”.

“You don't need to do that”

“Carine, no. Please, don't start the debate again”

“I disagree, therefore I started the debate”

“No, Carine”

“Gray, I know you're worried. Maybe, because I can't show it to you to the fullest. Someday, when you really can't get something done, I will definitely show you. That I... deserve to fight with you”

Hearing Carine's assertiveness and seriousness, Gray could no longer answer her. He was at a loss for words, after seeing the look of eyes filled with determination. When she promised to show Gray her strength, Carine looked at the man with both eyes full of earnestness.

“Although that's the case, I still won't allow you” Gray said still insisting. “I don't need permission” attack Carine. “I'll make sure, you won't act outside my command” Gray said. “I just need a confession. Just recognition” firmly Carine loudly.

Gray seemed to take a long breath. “Alright, I look forward to the day you demonstrate your abilities. I hope, you didn't disappoint” he really gave up. After that, Carine looks back at him. The woman smiled broadly.

“Basic..”.

Gray muttered, who could only grumble. In the debate this time, somehow he did not feel defeated. She felt Carine was listening to her and would not let her down.

Gray also felt, Carine would not have time to make him worry about all the dangers out there. Maybe, all this time Gray was too carried away by the atmosphere. From a girl named Reine, who is the incarnation of Carine.

Enough to believe.

“Oh, we've reached” Gray said, hurriedly breaking his mind after feeling it arrived at its destination. Carine got off the car first. He was seen observing the surroundings closely. “This?!” the question is a little surprised.

Gray stood quietly, in his place. He seemed to have gotten out of the car lately. While putting one hand in his pocket, Gray stepped quietly. Before long, Carine followed Gray from behind.

They arrived in front of a house in an ancient style. Again, you have to meet a building that reminds of the past. Well, even though Carine was in the past.

However, there are those who distinguish the multi-storey house with others. The house, surrounded by unkempt weeds. The fence of the house is black which almost covers the entire house, when viewed from the front. It really adds to the sinister and gloomy feel.

Leisurely, Gray opened the fence of the house. When she was about to enter, Carine's eyes suddenly attracted by a nameplate glued to the wall in the fence. Carine was seen reading it slowly in her heart.

Devals

“Home clan Deval? Marc's family, is it?” carine asked trying to guess. “You will know as soon as” respond Gray cold. He added an irritating impression.

Like just a shadow, Gray and Carine entered the house belonging to one of the families of the Deval clan quietly. The house is completely deserted. No one else was seen there.

There's no sound. Or, footsteps. Silence, as if there had never been a life before. Carine continued to follow Gray from behind.

Until finally, the mood changed. After Gray, opened a double door made of wood. Carine was shocked, by a very messy sight.

Apparently, this is where people gather. Inside a large ballroom-like room, the Deval clans gathered into one. The ballroom was filled with more than a dozen chairs. Storied chairs, typical of the moot court in the old era. They are having an important meeting.

It was heard, from the voices of those who did not want to miss giving an opinion. Maybe a few minutes ago, there was a very important discussion until they all fought each other. Carine seemed to be slightly covering both ears.

“Yes, this is what you want to show me?!” carine's protest was upset, due to the noise of the mutual quiet in the room. Everything's chaos. Every person wants their opinion accepted.

Not much to say, Gray immediately clasped Carine's hand. He pulled the woman's hand to head to an empty seat. In a chair on the top floor.

Carine just complies. Although confused in silence, he stepped up to follow Gray. Climbing a few wooden stairs, she and Gray finally arrived.

They sit in the chosen chair. Gray didn't take a second, Carine's hand out of his. Gray clasped the hand and held it in his lap.

“You saw them, Carine?” suddenly asked Gray. “Y, yes?” response Carine stuttered. He was more curious about one of his hands that was never released. And in fact, it was held tightly by a warm gentle touch.

“Family there. You see?” reply Gray while pointing to a chair that was opposite them. Carine tried to match the direction of her gaze with Gray's index finger. He narrowed his eyes somewhat.

“Yes, I saw it” Carine said, after discovering what Gray showed. Father, mother and a son. They sat in rows, on chairs that were on the same level as the one Carine was occupying. But the difference was, they were across from the front of the chair where Carine was sitting.

“Oh, wait...” Carine continued tilting her head. “Can't he..” the next move. Gray nodded slowly. This time, she actually made Carine hear and digest the entire incident that was in front of her two eyes...

By ourselves.
