Chapters. 05 - Little Bear Doll

”Sonya! You did Aratha this morning? I think he continues to stare at you cold.” asked Kinan when they were doing drama training as usual.

Sonya turned her attention as she tried to avoid Aratha's cold gaze from a distance. Gooseflesh. It was like being stared at by his own death. And that gaze, felt like it had an enormous negative aura.

Sonya scratched her non-itchy cheek with her index finger then replied, ”Maybe because she likes me. You must know, the signs that men are starting to like you, of course, he always gives an extraordinary expression and gaze that has never been shown.”

”Times anyway?” Kinan was doubtful of the answer. ”You got caught photographing him up close right? He probably thinks you're a stalker. I would also be afraid that I would become Aratha.”

Sonya blinked quickly a few times. He said, ”Aratha also said so. But, I don't keep any photos of Aratha in my camera at all. I myself do not know how to use it.” Sonya showed me her camera and all her photos.

Kinan watched and glued to the one photo that was there. ”This is your Mother?” he asked after seeing a photo of 10-year-old Sonya with her mother in front of the fountain.

”Yes. This was my mother's camera. He gave it to me in his last moments. Every time I held it, I felt that Mom was still alive today. In this camera, I can hear his voice, his laughter and his face.” Sonya looked sincerely at her photo and honestly, she missed her mother a lot. On the other hand, Sonya did not know that behind the curtain of the stage, Alrez was listening to all the stories. After that he walked away.

”It looks like you are keeping the camera well. It's natural that you do it.” Kinan gave a pause as he patted Sonya's shoulder. ”I went yes. It's good that you solve your problems with Aratha. I think he's getting suspicious that you have bad intentions.”

Kinan went to take care of the others while, Sonya took the time to stare at Aratha who was still giving a ferocious look to her like being targeted by the king of the forest. Sonya thinks she deserves it. Because he who had thrown Aratha into the drama club and was forced to memorize the entire dialogue that amounted to hundreds of words.

Sonya turned her back to Aratha. While Aratha was still staring at her, Sonya took a thousand steps to leave the room while Aratha was preoccupied with the dialogue she had to memorize.

”Fahruz!” exclaimed Mr. Zaki who stepped out of the Master room after he saw Fahruz passing by.

Fahruz turned his head back and politely asked, ”What's wrong, sir? Need my help?”

Mr. Zaki placed a stack of books thick enough and heavy on both hands Fahruz. ”Please you recap absent today, yes. Other Fathers and Teachers will start the meeting.”

Fahruz seemed hesitant and did not want to do so. The thing is, today she hasn't met Sonya and she just finished her gym class. Worried something happened to him. However, he also felt bad if he rejected it. The threat is the values and norms of decency that still apply.

”Iya, I'll recap it soon.” Fahruz had to answer.

”Thank you, yes. If so, just put it on your desk. I want a meeting first.”

Mr. Zaki walked back into the Master room. Fahruz looked at the stack of books he had in his hand. He sighed tiredly as he felt that all this would take a long time to finish.

”Can-can all this be finished after hours of rest. I had to stay here for a while.” murmured Fahruz lethargic as he walked into the Master room.

As Aratha is busy memorizing the dialogue and Fahruz gets an impromptu assignment from Mr. Zaki, Sonya has to go to the canteen herself. Unlike the others, Sonya enjoys her own time more if the opportunity arises. His mind felt much calmer as he sipped the freshly cooked avocado juice from the blender.

However, it seemed like there were some girls who continued to stare at him cynically. Sonya tried to ignore their gazes by looking around her camera for a while.

Lately, there are some girls who do not like him since Sonya met Aratha. I don't know if they're Aratha fanatics or not. To be sure, Sonya was not bothered by their appearance on earth. If only her world was a fantasy world, Sonya would have flown the girls directly using her giant catapult.

Unexpectedly by her, Sonya felt that there was someone standing in front of her. The shadow was seen covering her avocado juice making Sonya curious and thinking an active mountain had appeared in front of her.

Sonya raised her head to look at it. Just one look, he felt very surprised to realize that Alrez was already standing in front of him.

Quickly, Sonya immediately moved away from her seat and stared at Alrez from a considerable distance, like two cliffs separated by an earthquake. Sonya's face looks frightened, marked that she still can not forget the incident two months ago. Alrez himself felt uneasy and instantly distracted him. Instantly, the meeting of the two of them became the highlight of everyone in the cafeteria.

Perfect material for someone who likes to gossip at school.

”Sorry, it scares you.” said Alrez as he rubbed his back neck. ”Until now, I'm still afraid to talk to you. I'm here, just wanted to give you this.”

Alrez showed a small brown teddy bear hidden behind his back. Alrez's face flushed with embarrassment. Every time he faced Sonya, he always looked like everyone else.

”I want you to accept this. So, I just put it here.” Alrez put his doll on the table. He was still looking at Sonya who looked frightened. After that, she quickly left and returned to her class.

Sonya doesn't understand why Alrez did this. If the goal was to apologize, Sonya had already forgiven him a long time ago. Only, he was still afraid of confronting Alrez alone. This was the first time Alrez had looked at Sonya with such a sincere look since the two of them separated.

The brown teddy bear looks so cute with a heart in front of its belly and a red ribbon around its neck. Sonya picked up the doll from above the floor after continuing to stare at it for a while. He watched her at close range and just behind the bear's back, there was a small roll of paper tucked between the stitches.

”Why does Alrez do it?.” inner Sonya. He stored the paper roll into his uniform pocket then, walked away from the cafeteria with all the gazes still pointing at him.

”Ah! So stupid! What am I doing it for?!” Alrez looks so shy in his class that he even uses his bag to cover his face.

This time he felt he had no face. It hurt Sonya's feelings and she instead gave something to her as an apology. Uh! After all, there was no harm in giving him a small gift to make up. After all, Alrez won't ask Sonya to come back to him.

”Alrez! Tumben did not skip class.” said Dea, Alrez's classmate and the girl he had been with since Junior High. Girls with braids these two, it does look tomboy than the usual girl. However, it was rare for anyone to know that he was secretly harboring feelings for Alrez.

”Which why? I still feel at home here.” said Alrez with the same position so that his voice is not so audible.

Dea forcibly takes Alrez's bag despite having to pull each other up until he finally gives up. Dea looked at him with judgment at once filled with suspicion.

”What the hell is you!” snapped Alrez who instantly curled up on the table. He did not want anyone to see his face at this moment.

”Alrez, I think you still save feelings to Sonya.”

”What do you know?! This problem, I'm the one who solved it!”

”I know how. You still have feelings for Sonya. But, does Sonya still have feelings for you? He already has Fahruz. And I saw this morning, she was on the same road as Aratha. Over time, your position will also be replaced.”

Alrez raised his head and thought. He thought Dea's words had a point, too. Sonya is a person who is able to tie anyone down even Alrez who always gets bad judgment in the eyes of the people. Sonya was also the one who made her heart soften. Therefore, he tried to get it first.

Alrez nodded in annoyance, throwing his gaze towards the window. ”I'll just take it again. That guy doesn't deserve a girl like Sonya.”
