Chapters. 13 - Selecting

Throughout the day, Dea keeps a close eye on Fahruz at every step of the way even as Fahruz goes to the toilet. Apparently, Dea was still reminded of yesterday's incident when Fahruz was happy to drive him home. This time, he would keep an eye on her all day to guess whether Fahruz was a playboy or just his good mouth.

Both of them are now in the library. Dea watches Fahruz from behind a sizable bookshelf. Fahruz who was taking books from the top shelf did not know that next to him was Kinan who was also picking up books. Kinan tried to grab the book on the top shelf but, his hand was unable to reach it. There was a slight sagging between the book and Kinan's elbow which caused some books to start falling from the top of his head.

Luckily, Fahruz was next to him. Fahruz immediately pulled Kinan to his side so the book fell to the floor.

”Kinan, are you okay?”

Kinan immediately looked at Fahruz with a surprised expression. He answered her with a nod of his head then moved away from Fahruz a few steps.

”Still.”

Kinan picked up one by one the books that had fallen on the floor and rearranged them onto the shelf. Meanwhile, Dea who saw it seemed surprised by the reflex action that Fahruz had done earlier. Unexpectedly, Fahruz turned out to be a pretty good person. Sonya was very happy to be next to him.

”Still less! I have to see it together with the new Sonya I trust.” Inner Dea who keeps an eye on the two of them including listening to her talk.

”Tumben today you are not the same Sonya. Usually you always go hand in hand with him.” Kinan pulled out a chair and sat there.

”Sonya does not like in the library because it is too quiet. Anyway, since morning I've seen him with Alrez. Rika says that Alrez got beat up by thugs. So, Sonya came to treat her wound.” Fahruz also pulled up a chair next to Kinan.

”Didn't you like it the most if Sonya was close to Alrez? You said Alrez slapped him once.”

”It seems, Alrez has changed. When the art performance ended, the two of them went home together and I followed him quietly. From behind, they both still like dating like they used to.”

”You're not afraid Sonya's taken Alrez again? Usually, all guys will defend the girl he likes like Alrez.”

Fahruz replied a moment later, ”Loving someone belongs to Sonya. Whoever he likes, I'll appreciate it. Because, if I force her to like me, her heart will definitely break and if it is fixed, the shape will not be as it was.”

”Oh, sometimes you can be wise as well when talking. If you have feelings, it's good to say it now before you regret it. Everyone says opportunities don't come up twice. Although yes, the opportunity will not be perfect like the first opportunity.”

”This time will not. I don't want to make Sonya think anymore. He has gone through his life with great difficulty let alone having to lose his mother when he was 12 years old. Love matters, it's a recent affair. Because, the most important is the peace of each person's soul.”

Dea who was hiding felt shocked listening to these words. The long-awaited answer regarding Alrez who never liked him even though he was his friend at Junior High. It was all because Dea could not force it. The opportunity to express her feelings fails when Sonya appears in Alrez's life.

”How about today I tell you the truth? But, if I did, Alrez would have said no. After all, all he likes right now is Sonya. She is beautiful and kind. Unlike me who sometimes became a tomboy girl and always managed to get along with men.”

Maybe that's what makes Alrez uncomfortable.

Sonya who had just exited the UKS immediately ran as fast as lightning leaving the room. His face was flushed like heat. His heart was not well controlled. Everything felt incredible and far from his expectations.

”Ahh! Why is everything like this?! I don't want to make it better with Alrez now!” sonya shouted in her mind as she continued to run, passing through the crowd of people who almost filled the corridor.

Sonya ran over while closing her eyes. Accidentally, he crashed into a huge wall that should not have been there. The collision was so strong that it made Sonya move backwards.

”Aratha?”

Aratha looks gloomy. He didn't smile one bit. Although it was like this the appearance of his face when meeting someone. However, her gloomy face was very different from her cold face in the other days. Paler than usual. Hm, something must be wrong.

”Sorry Aratha, I didn't see you when you were this big. Next time, I'll take a look around.”

”You come with me!”

Not yet done he apologized, Aratha immediately pulled Sonya's hand towards somewhere. The two of them walked quickly through the corridor and down one by one the stairs. Everyone saw including Alrez who had just come out of the UKS. And right in front of the physics lab room, the two of them directly entered it while no one was looking.

Sonya looks panicked because there's no one in this lab but her and Aratha. Moreover, Aratha's mood was bad like she had just gotten a wound that had no cure. His figure was much different from the usual Aratha.

”Hmm, Aratha! Why are we here? You want to say something very secret?”

Aratha sighed. With one quick move, Aratha directly cornered Sonya by crashing her against the wall while her other hand rested right next to Sonya's ear.

Awkward, confused and surprised. That was what was painted in Sonya's mind at the moment. He thought Aratha was out of her mind. Really like a crazy person. His cold figure, instantly turned into a jealous type of guy.

”K-you what, Aratha?”

For a moment Aratha continued to be silent, looking down, not showing her face in front of Sonya. Aratha looks tired and very sweaty in fact, since the morning rain continues to flutter the Tangerang region. Most people wear jackets because of the cold. However, only Aratha was sweating in this rainy season.

”I feel toyed.”

After being silent for ten seconds, Aratha finally opened her mouth. The first sentence he said, really made Sonya confused as if she was taking a college entrance test.

”What are you talking about, Aratha? I don't understand.”

”Sonya, I'm sure you still have the same feelings as Alrez. I'm sure of your eye movement and the way you looked at it.”

Sonya was a little surprised. "You heard what I said to Alrez in the UKS earlier?”

Aratha nodded. ”I heard, you were slapped once by him until you put fear on him. But why have you changed now? What is the purpose of you being so close to me that you make me misunderstand? I feel ashamed of myself. I'm not a good person to tie someone up. But, you tied yourself up in my life.”

”Aratha, listen to me for a moment. Previously you were the one I could never reach.”

”Then why don't you give up and tie me up now?! You, what am I? Is it just a toy that you can throw away at any time?”

”You're just a close friend just like Fahruz. Right now, I just wish I could share the fun, the hard and the sad together. It's not all about deep feelings. I don't want to break any ties. I no longer bring love into my life.”

Aratha was silent to take a breath. After which, he lowered his hand and turned his attention with an inexhaustible expression.

”Tell me something, between me and Alrez who will you choose?”
