”I want Sonya to stay by my side. Until old age and welcome our 100th.”
Sonya was still thinking about Aratha's words this afternoon. She doesn't expect Aratha to love her and let Sonya love her in silence. However, it turned out that Aratha had the same feelings as him. He did not expect to get the feeling of being loved again by someone.
”Aratha, I do not want to be a precious memory for you. After all, I have a time limit that I can't guess. I can't squirm sad people.”
Sonya sighed. His steps walked through the deserted hallway of the classroom as it was already afternoon. Orange fibers such as orange peels are seen in the western sky. The wind blew softly, flying a few strands of Sonya's hair.
Her sad face, added to the mellow time in the afternoon. Aratha has been home since. Fahruz is still on the field outside because he has to practice futsal. Suddenly, Sonya's left chest ached and her left hand could not move. He immediately fell to his knees, with his right hand enduring the pain in his chest. Cold sweat began to pour from the top of his head. Even his legs felt very weak.
”I need to stay calm.”
Sonya tried to regulate her breathing. He felt like he had just run up and down the hill endlessly and without rest. The pain is getting worse. For a few minutes, Sonya continued to hold on to it until the pain disappeared slowly.
”Sonya!”
This anxiety-filled cry echoed in Sonya's ears. Surprisingly, this voice made Sonya feel relieved and able to breathe freely. It was as if he had just obtained a reward that exceeded the price of an island.
”Fahruz.”
Fahruz immediately knelt in front of Sonya. She took off her jacket and put it on Sonya's body. His face looked worried and scared. Fahruz immediately took Sonya's bag and took something from inside.
He took a tablet of medicament and a bottle of mineral water in his hand. He gave it to Sonya and asked her to drink it immediately. However, instead of doing what she was asked to do, Sonya instead turned her attention as if rejecting her.
”Sonya, you should drink it. Doctor Lina says you should drink it if the pain appears.”
Gooseflesh.
”My throat is tired. Over time, I won't be able to survive. I'm tired! I'm tired of this!”
Sonya could not help her rebellious tears from wanting to come out. He soaked his lower lip and looked at Fahruz desperately. Both of his hands clenched and his tears fell to the floor. Fahruz was able to sense what Sonya was feeling right now.
Fahruz hugged Sonya, wrapped around her head gently. Fahruz stared up, muffling the sound of Sonya's cries that didn't stop. In silence, Fahruz also shed tears for her. Expecting the best for him.
”Sonya. I'm sure you're strong. You are amazing. So, don't give up.”
...~o0o~...
Aratha immediately laid her body on the bed with brown sheets. This time he looks very tired even though when in the UKS he slept long enough than usual. The air conditioner in his room was never turned on by him even though every day, his body was always covered by sweat.
Aratha stared at the ceiling covered by the white ceiling. He occasionally chuckled, noticing the words he had previously spoken to Sonya. Aratha could not believe that she could say that freely without the slightest burden. On the other hand, he also felt relieved to be able to take out his entire heart.
”Mother's right. Someone has broken into my life. The wall that I had made so hard, was just destroyed by it. I can't avoid it because I'm too weak.”
”You're better?” Aunt Anieq stood next to Aratha's bed lying down.
Aratha nodded. ”Aibi will settle here right? I can't get far from Aretha.” Aratha said as if pleading.
Aunt Anieq was breathing out. He placed his plate on the table and gently, he put away the bangs that covered most of Aratha's forehead.
”Aunt has a job there. So, Auntie couldn't stay for long. Aretha also had many friends there. She accidentally permits school for a few days to accompany Aunt.”
”But I want Aunty and Aretha to stay here. I promise I will recover instantly if you two settle here.”
”Can't, Aratha. Auntie will figure out how you can heal. For a while, you have to fight, yes. Rest assured you are not alone.”
Aretha who heard it from behind the door clucked in annoyance. He was irritated by the much-wanted nature of Aratha. He was very confident that Aratha's state would not improve even though he and Aunt Anieq settled here.
Actually Aretha was also surprised when she heard it five years ago, when her mother was still alive. Right in the hospital that had an antiseptic smell everywhere, Aretha deliberately eavesdropped on their conversation from behind the door of Aratha's room.
The conversation took place between his mother's father and also a male doctor who overcame his illness. He said Aratha's life expectancy was five years. After the disease called Leukaemia was eating away at his body with early symptoms, Aratha can certainly not live any longer.
From behind the door, Aretha could hear her mother sobbing and her father's soft voice trying to calm her down. Unexpectedly, their originally harmonious family, in a moment turned into sobs. Fortunately, Aratha was asleep. So, he would not know what the name of the illness that attacked him was at this moment.
”Cih!”
Aretha showed herself in the doorway. He had made Aunt Anieq and Aratha surprised to see his presence filled with sadness and a desperate tone.
”I hate having a weak brother! Just hate! If you know you will be sick when you are older, why should you be born into the world?!” Aretha tried to scream. However, his voice was closed by the sound of sobs that could not be restrained by him.
”ARETHA! WHAT DID YOU SAY JUST NOW?!” firmly Aunt Anieq, looked at Aretha with great anger.
”WHY?! AM I WRONG AGAIN?! ARATHA WAS BORN TO LEAVE SORROW! NOT HAPPINESS!” yelled Aretha with all her might.
”Aretha! You are quick to apologize to Aratha!”
”No! I will never!”
Again Aretha ran to her room and locked her from the inside. Aunt Anieq who saw him could only sigh. He did not expect Aretha to say this to Aratha who was ill.
”Please forgive him. Aunt didn't educate him to be an adult.”
Aratha shook her head and said, ”Aretha actually loves Aunty, Dad and myself. Aretha just trying to stay strong in the face of everything she experienced herself.”
Aunt Anieq smiled. He rubbed Aratha's forehead so gently that it couldn't be felt by her. ”You can easily understand. Now go to sleep and rest. Aunt will wake you tomorrow.”
