The Devil of the Past

Keira was released from the hospital. Dizza was the happiest because Keira was finally able to return home.

Keira packed up the goods, Dizza helped put some things in.

"How long have we been living here? Why so much of my stuff?" Dizza complained to see her skincare strewn over the bed.

Keira gave a small laugh while Dizza tidied up the skincare, throwing it near the bag in front of Keira. Keira put it in a bag. When the last bottle of skincare came in, Dizza threw a paper. Keira looked at the paper in surprise. Dizza pretended not to see, he walked out.

"I'll wait for Brother outside."

Keira sat on the edge of the bed and began to open the paper which was a letter from Aunt Ani.

I know you're hurt a lot. I don't even deserve to apologize, so don't forgive me. I know what it's like to live with heartache in the people we love. I did it even though I was wrong, but you are different. I just wrongly thought that you hurt me, but I really hurt you. All day long I prayed, I wanted to end all this, but I couldn't do it. I just want to hear your voice again. Want to see your face again. I wanted to get on my knees and apologize for no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop loving you. Let this be a curse and a punishment for me, but you must start a happy life. You have to forget about the past. You don't have to forgive me, you just have to forget me.

Keira squeezed the letter and threw it away. He did not want his mother or father to know the letter. They have threatened Evan to leave their lives after Evan returns Keira's good name. Keira doesn't want to cry anymore. He hurried to pack his things and caught up with Dizza.

Dizza observed Keira who looked ordinary. He thought Keira hadn't read it.

"Sister, didn't you read it?" Dizza nudged Keira, he glanced forward, afraid that their driver would complain.

"Hm." Keira answered briefly.

"Haven't?"

"It." Keira answered again.

Dizza was suddenly curious about the contents of the letter, why Keira did not react at all, cry or ask to meet Evan. Dizza looked at the face of Keira who was looking at the street outside.

"Sister, is Brother okay?" ask Dizza.

"Yes, I'm fine."

Keira then looked at Dizzah.

"If you ever see him again, tell him that you have no business with him." Keira said sharply then she glanced at the driver who stole their conversation.

Dizza heard it.

No business already? Brother even sacrificed his life for her. How can it be now as if they have no feelings when they have just been between life and death to save the man.

The first thing Keira did when she got home was to find her mother.

Lestari hugged her daughter and asked her what she wanted to eat.

"Mom, tell me the truth."

Lestari took off her embrace and looked at Keira in confusion. They were in the room.

"Why did you throw out Zea?"

"What are you talking about?"

Keira takes a fruit knife and threatens sustainability.

"When I am on the brink of death, I swear if I return to this world then I will seek the truth about Zea. If I don't find out, I'd better get back to it."

"Don't, Keira let go of the knife!" Mrs Lestari screamed in panic.

Keira was still holding the knife, ready to slash her own veins.

"Mom did it all for you. For both of you!"

"Mom always said that over and over again. But the truth is that I don't care about Zea at all!"

"Mom cares!"

"If you had run Zea that day, she wouldn't have survived."

Keira.

"Why? Why did you just take me, why didn't you change her to bring Zea?"

"can't. You have to stay here so you can be safe. But Zea to be safe, she can't be here!"

"Because Kusuma can kill him!"

Keira was surprised.

"If you could kill him, why would you take me? Why didn't you kill me?"

"Because you're different!"

"What's different?! "

"Because you're Kusuma's biological daughter!"

Keira immediately dropped his knife, not lost his surprise, his mother again revealed another fact that was no less surprising.

"And your sister is Baskoro's real daughter!"

Keira fell to the floor. The two realities he heard were things that were beyond his expectations. He did not expect his mother to hide that fact all this time.

Lestari finally told her the secret she had kept for years.

Lestari and Kusuma have been in a relationship since Lestari worked at Kusuma's company, long before she married Ayuni. They were forced to end the relationship because Kusuma had to marry Ayuni, the woman of his family's choice.

Lestari relented, at the insistence of Baskoro and Resti she left Kusuma's life without knowing that she was already pregnant with Keira.

Kusuma and Baskoro are business partners who have a close relationship. Due to frequent meetings, Kusuma knew Resti, an actress who eventually willingly became Kusuma's mistress.

Baskoro continued to search for Lestari because he knew Lestari had a child with Kusuma, while Ayuni did not also have children. Baskoro wants to get rid of Keira and Lestari, but he can't find her because Lestari moved around raising Keira alone. Then one day when Keira was 4 years old, Baskoro found them. Baskoro did everything in his power to get rid of them both.

"Mom can hold everything she does to me, but when she's about to hurt you, I can't help it." Mrs Lestari is crying.

That night Lestari pleads that if Baskoro wants to kill her then let Keira live. He would do anything to keep Keira alive. Baskoro who was drunk agreed to it, he asked one of his men to take Keira while he vented his crimes on Lestari.

"That man is Dany, the man you've always known as your father."

Dany could not hear Lestari's cry, so on the basis of humanity, he rebelled, he fought the other men and managed to bring Keira and Lestari to flee. They managed to escape to the edge of town.

"But it turns out the curse doesn't stop." Mom wiped her tears. From the results of Baskoro's crime, Lestari was pregnant. When he found out, Lestari wanted to abort the fetus but Dany forbade it. He was willing to marry Lestari and acknowledge the child as his son.

Keira cried again, she did not expect her mother to suffer so much.

They lived happily until Baskoro found them again. Baskoro killed Dany.

"Your father did not die in an accident. Baskoro killed him by ramming him. Mom was really scared. Who else will protect us?"

"Then I managed to find Mom."

Kusuma knew that Keira was his biological child, but he did not know that Lestari had another child from Baskoro. He asks Lestari to stay with him. Lestari thinks about Keira's safety, Keira will be safe if she stays with Kusuma, but what if Kusuma finds out Zea is Baskoro's son. So Lestari lied to Kusuma, saying that Zea was Dany's son and that he would not take Zea with him.

Of course Kusuma agreed, he never saw Zea being entrusted to the orphanage.

"During that time I was looking for a way for the three of us to go abroad together. But it turns out that the Tregadi happened. When you experienced that terrible event, Kusuma was very angry. He went on a rampage and looked for Baskoro. He swore to kill all the Baskoro families. That's what scared Resti and ended up killing himself. Mom was scared too. I couldn't have taken you on the run back then and when the fire broke out, I found a way that I finally regret right now. Mother asked the Head of the House to declare Zea dead. Surely the mother sent Zea out of the country with a husband and wife who took care of her as a foster child. I made sure Zea lived well, went to school well, just like you. Every month the mother receives news from him but suddenly all the news stops. Zea's adoptive parents died and mother lost news. I've been trying to find Zea, but I don't know that she's back here."

"You know how mom felt when she found out she was Zea? I wanted to hug her, apologize, but I couldn't do it. Especially after everything that happened to you, do you think your father would let Zea survive?"

Keira cries, not believing that their life story has become this complicated.

"You know, when you went through the same thing from Hans, I wanted to kill the kid. I'm so sorry I neglected to take care of you, I'm afraid you're going through the same thing with mom. Fortunately, you did not get pregnant. How can father and son be like demons?!" Lestari clenched her hand.

"That's who came to Hans that night."

"Mother ...."

Lestari.

"Which mother wasn't devastated to see her daughter treated like that? Mother didn't push him into the abyss, she just forced him to do it himself."

Keira looked at her mother who looked tired.

Now I know why the devil is increasing in number. Because the flames of anger are able to turn an angel-like person into a demon.

Keira was crying on her mother's lap. He did not expect, for his sake his mother was willing to get a lot of suffering.
