and those who are first (believers), they are the first (in heaven).

These are the people who are close (to Allah),

فِيْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيْمِ
fi jannatin-na'im
Being in a paradise of pleasure,

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَۙ
⁇ ullatum minal-awwalin
a great number of the ancients, and,

وَقَلِيْلٌ مِّنَ الْاٰخِرِيْنَۗ

and a small group of people who later.

عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُوْنَةٍۙ
'ala sururim mudukarnah
They were on cots with gold and jewels, and,

مُّتَّكِـِٕيْنَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقٰبِلِيْنَ
muttaki`i 'alaiha mutaqabiliin
they leaned over him face to face.

يَطُوْفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوْنَۙ
yaitakafu 'alaihim wildanum mukhalladikain
They are surrounded by young people who remain young,

بِاَكْوَابٍ وَّاَبَارِيْقَۙ وَكَأْسٍ مِّنْ مَّعِيْنٍۙ
bi`akwabiw wa abariqa wa ka`sim mim ma'in
by carrying a glass, kettle and sloki (chalice) contains drinks taken from running water, which,

لَّا يُصَدَّعُوْنَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُوْنَۙ
las yuzadda'ipina 'an-ha wa la yunzifukann
they were not tired of it and neither were they drunk,

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُوْنَۙ
wa fakihatim mimma yatakhayyarn
and whatever fruit they choose,

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُوْنَۗ
wa la - mimi ttairim mimma yasytahain
and whatever meat birds they want.

وَحُوْرٌ عِيْنٌۙ

And there are angels with beautiful eyes,

كَاَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُوْنِۚ
ka`alil-lu`lu`il-makn
like a pearl that is well preserved.

جَزَاۤءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ
jaz`am bima lea'malain
In return for what they do.

لَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ فِيْهَا لَغْوًا وَّلَا تَأْثِيْمًاۙ
la yasma'ukna fiha lagwaw wa la ta`
There they heard neither vain nor sinful conversation,

ilan salaman salama

wa vis-bul-yamini man-sul-yamin
And the right, who is the right.

fi sidrim makhud
(They) were among the unthorned bidara trees,

وَّطَلْحٍ مَّنْضُوْدٍۙ
wa ital - eim manud
and a banana tree in a row (the fruit),

وَّظِلٍّ مَّمْدُوْدٍۙ
wa ⁇ illim mamdikah
and the shade that stretched out wide,

وَّمَاۤءٍ مَّسْكُوْبٍۙ

which does not cease to bear fruit and it is not forbidden to take it,

wa furusyim marfik'ah
and the thick mattresses are soft again.

اِنَّآ اَنْشَأْنٰهُنَّ اِنْشَاۤءًۙ

We created them (the angels) directly,

فَجَعَلْنٰهُنَّ اَبْكَارًاۙ
fa ja'alnahunna abka
and We made them virgins,

عُرُبًا اَتْرَابًاۙ
'uruban atraba
loving (and) his age,

لِّاَصْحٰبِ الْيَمِيْنِۗ
li`ais-sibil-yamin
for the right, though,

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَۙ
⁇ ullatum minal-awwalin
a great number of the ancients, and,

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاٰخِرِيْنَۗ

and a great multitude of the people who were then.

wa vis-sibusy-shimali ma as-sibusy-shimal
And the left, how miserable the left.

فِيْ سَمُوْمٍ وَّحَمِيْمٍۙ
fi saminakmiw wa
(They) in the torment of the very hot wind and the boiling water,

وَّظِلٍّ مِّنْ يَّحْمُوْمٍۙ

and the black smoke, the,

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيْمٍ
la badridiw wa la kari
not cold and unpleasant.

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا قَبْلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِيْنَۚ
innahum kanakih qabla nkalika mutrafin
Verily they before that (formerly) lived luxuriously,

وَكَانُوْا يُصِرُّوْنَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيْمِۚ
wa certificate 'alal-sued-'aem
and they continue to do great sins, and,

وَكَانُوْا يَقُوْلُوْنَ ەۙ اَىِٕذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ
file a letter a wife wa kunna wa kunna turabaw wa 'iman a inn lama'ipihn
and they said, “When we are dead, become soil and bones, will we really be resurrected?

اَوَاٰبَاۤؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَ
a wa ab`unal - awwaln
What was our former ancestor (given up anyway)?”

قُلْ اِنَّ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَالْاٰخِرِيْنَۙ
qul innal-awwalina wal-khirin
Say, “(Yes), verily those who were before and who were then,

لَمَجْمُوْعُوْنَۙ اِلٰى مِيْقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍ
lamajmajikan'ina ila miqati yaumim ma'likim
surely all will be collected at a certain time, on a day that has been understood.

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمْ اَيُّهَا الضَّاۤ لُّوْنَ الْمُكَذِّبُوْنَۙ
⁇ umma innakum ayyuhaud-llawarnal-faculty
Then verily you, O you who are astray, deny!

لَاٰكِلُوْنَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِّنْ زَقُّوْمٍۙ
file name min syajarim min zaqqipanm
it will eat the zaqqum tree,

فَمَالِـُٔوْنَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُوْنَۚ
then it will fill your stomach with it.

فَشَارِبُوْنَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيْمِۚ
fa syaribina 'alaihi minal-sumi
After that, you will drink very hot water.

فَشَارِبُوْنَ شُرْبَ الْهِيْمِۗ
fa syurbal-him
So you drink like a camel (which is very thirsty).

هٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّيْنِۗ
the nuzuluhum yaumad-din
That's the dish for them on the day of vengeance.”

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُوْنَ
na taennu khalaqnakum falau lasaddiqainn
We have created you, why do you not justify (the day of the resurrection)?

اَفَرَءَيْتُمْ مَّا تُمْنُوْنَۗ
a fa ra`aitum ma
Have you noticed, then, about the (seed of man) which you are emitting.

ءَاَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُوْنَهٗٓ اَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُوْنَ
antum takhluqipihu am na nul-khaliqain
Did you create it, or did we create it?

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوْقِيْنَۙ
na awedenu qaddarna bainakumul-mauta wa ma na medu bimasbukihqin
We have determined the death of each of you and We are not weak,

عَلٰٓى اَنْ نُّبَدِّلَ اَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِيْ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ
'alama an nubaddila amalakum wa nunsyi`akum fi ma la ta'lamn
to replace you with those who are like you (in the world) and raise you up (in the Hereafter) in circumstances you do not know.

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْاَةَ الْاُوْلٰى فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ
wa laqad 'alimtumun-nasy`atalu la daiskhakkarainn
And really, you know the creation of the first, why do you not take lessons?

اَفَرَءَيْتُمْ مَّا تَحْرُثُوْنَۗ
a fa ra`aitum ma ta
Have you ever noticed the seeds you planted?

ءَاَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُوْنَهٗٓ اَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُوْنَ
an antum tazra'ipakihu am na taiznuz-zarri'ipahn
Are you the one who grows it or are we the one who grows it?

لَوْ نَشَاۤءُ لَجَعَلْنٰهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُوْنَۙ
lau nasy`u laja'alnahu huataman fa ⁇ altum tafakkahain
If We so desire, We shall destroy until ****; then you shall be astonished,

اِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُوْنَۙ
inna lamugram
(while saying), “Really, we really suffered a loss,

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُوْمُوْنَ
bal na - ibn mahriphakin
even we did not get any results.”

اَفَرَءَيْتُمُ الْمَاۤءَ الَّذِيْ تَشْرَبُوْنَۗ
a fa ra`aitumul-ma`allaishi tasyrabikn
Have you ever noticed the water you drink?

ءَاَنْتُمْ اَنْزَلْتُمُوْهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ اَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُوْنَ
an antum anzaltumukhu minal-muzni am na tunnul-munziln
Are you the one who sent it down from the clouds or did We send it down?

لَوْ نَشَاۤءُ جَعَلْنٰهُ اُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُوْنَ
lau nasy`u ja'alnahu ujajan falau la tasykurainn
If We willed, We would make it salty, why are you not grateful?

اَفَرَءَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِيْ تُوْرُوْنَۗ
a fa ra`aitumun - narallati
Have you ever noticed the fire you are lighting (with wood)?

ءَاَنْتُمْ اَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ اَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِـُٔوْنَ
an antum ansy`tum syajarataha am na tunnul-munsyi`n
Are you the one who grows the wood or are we the one who grows it?

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَّمَتَاعًا لِّلْمُقْوِيْنَۚ
na ta'zkirataw wa mata'al lil-muqwin
We make it (the fire) for warnings and useful materials for the traveler.

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيْمِ
fa sabbi sismi rabbikal - 'a
And glorify the name of your Lord, the Great ().

فَلَآ اُقْسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوْمِ
fa uqsimu bimawaiqi'in-nujekifm
Then I swear by the place where the stars circulate.

وَاِنَّهٗ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عَظِيْمٌۙ
wa innahakit laqasamul lau ta'lamokina 'aim
And verily it is a great oath if ye know,

اِنَّهٗ لَقُرْاٰنٌ كَرِيْمٌۙ
innahakin laqur`s karim
and (this) is indeed the glorious Qur'an,

فِيْ كِتٰبٍ مَّكْنُوْنٍۙ
fi kitabim maknak
in the preserved Book (Mauh Mahfuzh),

لَّا يَمَسُّهٗٓ اِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُوْنَۙ
la yamassuhu illal-mutahharipin
no one touched him but the consecrated servants.

تَنْزِيْلٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ
tanzilum mir rabbil - 'alami
Descended from the Lord of all nature.

اَفَبِهٰذَا الْحَدِيْثِ اَنْتُمْ مُّدْهِنُوْنَ
a fa biharisdal-edi antum mud-hinokahn
Do you take this news lightly (Qur'an),

وَتَجْعَلُوْنَ رِزْقَكُمْ اَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ
wa taj'alna rizqakum annakum tukaisinawn
and thou hast made the sustenance which thou hast received (from Allah) a lie.

فَلَوْلَآ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُوْمَۙ
falau la da balagatil - ulqipakm
Then why (not preventing) when (lives) have reached the esophagus,

وَاَنْتُمْ حِيْنَىِٕذٍ تَنْظُرُوْنَۙ
wa antum ⁇ na`isheen tank
and you when it sees,

وَنَحْنُ اَقْرَبُ اِلَيْهِ مِنْكُمْ وَلٰكِنْ لَّا تُبْصِرُوْنَ
wa na ta aqrabu ilaihi mingkum wa lakil lakil
and We are nearer to him than you, but you do not see,

فَلَوْلَآ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِيْنِيْنَۙ
falau la ing kuntum gaira
why then, if ye are not possessed (by Allah),

تَرْجِعُوْنَهَآ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ
tarji'ipahnaha ing kuntum
you don't give it back (that life) if you're the right one?

فَاَمَّآ اِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَۙ
fa amma ing kanna minal-muqarrabin
If he (the dead) is one who is near (to Allah),

فَرَوْحٌ وَّرَيْحَانٌ ەۙ وَّجَنَّتُ نَعِيْمٍ
fa rau wa rai nuw wa jannatu na'im
and he has peace and sustenance and (full of) pleasures.

وَاَمَّآ اِنْ كَانَ مِنْ اَصْحٰبِ الْيَمِيْنِۙ
wa amma ing kanna min asen-same-yamin
And if he belongs to the right, then,

فَسَلٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ اَصْحٰبِ الْيَمِيْنِۗ
fa salamul laka min agen - abil - yamin
so, “Salam to you (wahai) from the right!” (hail angel).

وَاَمَّآ اِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ الضَّاۤلِّيْنَۙ
wa amma ing kanna minal-mukaiskaislaud-udihlin
And if he belongs to the class of the one who belies and is a heretic,

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيْمٍۙ
fa nuzulum min
he was greeted by boiling water,

وَّتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيْمٍ
wa taksliyatu ja
and burned in hell.

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِيْنِۚ
inna hakna lahuwa ?aqqul-yaqin
Really, this is the right belief.

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيْمِ
fa sabbi sismi rabbikal - 'a
And glorify the name of your Lord, the Great ().
One of the superior letters that are often read by the Prophet and have many benefits is Surat Al Waqiah. This Surat Al Waqiah is the 56th letter that has 96 verses in the Quran.
Surat Al Waqiah has meaning as 'doomsday' and belongs to the Makkiyah.
Surat Al Waqiah is referred to as one of the most frequently read letters by the Prophet and in it contains many virtues. The primacy of Surat Al Waqiah in bringing sustenance is contained in Aya 89 of the 96 verses available.
Surat Al Waqiah verse 89 reads:
Fa rauw wa rainuw wa jannatu na'm
That is to say: he has peace and sustenance and (full) enjoyment of heaven.
Here is the privilege of regularly reading Surat Al Waqiah every day:
The Specialty of the Prophet SAW
In a hadith, Ibn Abbas RA said, "Abu Bakr ash-Shiddiq RA said to the Prophet SAW, 'O Messenger of Allah, you have grizzled.' He said, 'I changed because of letters Hud, al-Waqiah, al-Mursalat, an-Naba', and at-Takwir'."
Enough Sustenance
According to a hadith AbShari'lah bin Mas'ud RA, routinely reading al Waqiah can prevent someone from poverty. In the hadith explained,"""I heard the Prophet SAW saying, 'Whoever reads the letter of Al-Waqiah every night, he will not be afflicted with fakery forever."
When is the Right Time to Read Al Waqiah?
Reporting from the book 'I'm Sure to Be Rich (Completed Do'a and Zikir)' by Kholidin, there are several ways to practice the letter of Al Waqiah is good and true that is read after the dhuha prayer or evening prayer.
In practice, the letter of Al Waqiah read once and in verse 89 read 3 times without breath and pause to pray to God in the heart and then proceed to the next verse until it is finished.
Furthermore, the right time to read the letter of Al Waqiah is at the time of dhuha prayer or after Dhuha prayer and continue to read the prayer:
Allahumma inni As aluka bihaqqi suuratil Waaqi'ah Wa asroorihaa antu yassiroli rizki kamaa yusarritukan li katsiirin Bi kholqika Ya Allah Ya Rabbal 'Aalamiin
It means: O Allah, I ask Thee with the truth of the letter of Waqi'ah and its secrets, that Thou mayest ease my provision as Thou hast made it easy for most Thy creatures, O Allah, O robbal of 'nature.
Lastly, the right time to read the letter of Al Waqiah is every night at least once a day.
This is explained in the history of Abdullah bin Mas'ud "Whoever reads the letter of Waqiah every night, it will not befall him poverty/lack forever."
Prayer after the letter of Al Waqiah can be read after we read the letter of Al Waqiah.
Reporting from Republika.co.id, in a book called Zikir-zikir Cleanser and Heart Restorer by M. Rojaya (2009:87) DAR publisher! Mizan explained about reciting the prayer after Al Waqiah's letter. By reading the letter Al Waqiah every night can provide ease and blessings of sustenance.
Hadith that Advocates Reading Surat Al Waqiah
There is also a hadith that recommends to read the letter Al Waqiah as follows.
From Abu Dzabyah of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, he said, “I heard the Prophet said, “Whoever reads Surah Al-Waqi’ah every night, it will not be afflicted with poverty forever.”
Prayer Reading After Reading Al Waqiah
After reading the letter of Al Waqiah we are encouraged to read prayer. There are many prayer options that can be practiced after reading the letter of Al Waqiah. Sourced from a book called I Am Sure to Be Rich (Completed Do’a and Dhikr) by Kholidin (58) publisher Syntax Computama describes the prayer reading. There is also a prayer reading after reading the letter of Al Waqiah which is as follows.
“Allohumma inni as aluka bihaqqi suuratil waaqi’ah wa asroorihaa antu yassiroli rizki kamaa yassartahu li katsiirin min kholqika yaa Alloh yaa robbal ‘alamiin.”
The meaning of the above prayer reading is, “Yes Allah, I am in fact pleading with You the truth of the letter Waqi’a and its secrets, so that You may ease my provision as You make it easier for most of Your creatures, Yes Allah, yes robbal a’alamin.”
