Under the twilight sky that began to dim its light. A pair of small children were chatting while staring at the sun that was beginning to sink in the western horizon.
"Hey Riel, what do you want to be when you grow up?" A beautiful girl looked calm as she asked the boy next to her.
"So what yeah, ah I'll be whatever I want." Riel answered.
"Even though fate doesn't approve of it?"
"Destiny? Hmm if I could I would fight him haha." An innocent answer came out from the little boy's mouth.
"Destination can be fought? Is it not that our lives have been defined since we were born? My mom said it like that."
"Aira, I don't really understand what destiny is. But if our lives have been decided since we were born, it must not be interesting"
Silent.
There was no more conversation between the two children.
"Aira, come in, son. It's getting dark." Aira's mother's voice broke the silence.
"Riel, I'm in first. Mother has called. I'll see you tomorrow." Aira stood up and ran into her house.
"See you tomorrow Aira."
Riel went home to her house which was only 50 meters from Aira's house.
Riel Eraxoth, the son of a warlord in the Sapphire kingdom who is believed to also be the right hand of the king. His father rarely came home because he often stayed at the palace. She lives with her mother and sister.
Airayle, the son of a wealthy merchant. He always played with Riel because of his very close home.
--
The next day they meet again on the field where they used to play together. This time not only the two of them, there were 10 children running around here and there full of laughter. They play robbers and guards.
"Riel, come here or you'll get caught!" a boy who looked older than Riel shouted from a distance.
"I won't get caught that easily, Tobi!" Riel answered with a sense of pride for his agility.
"Don't blame me if your boyfriend manages to seduce you and ends up putting you in jail huh!" Tobi ran away avoiding the other guards.
"Boyfriend?!" Riel's steps stopped for a moment as her head tried to figure out what the word Tobi said to her meant.
"Hey, Riel." The daughter who was none other than Aira greeted Riel gently.
"Hi ai"
"You're caught." Aira laughed while holding onto Riel's confused shoulder.
"Eh? You're guards?"
"If you don't, I'll take you out of here." Aira was still trying to stop laughing.
After they were satisfied playing, the other friends went home to their respective homes until finally left Riel and Aira as usual. They promised under the blue sky with their innocent minds.
"Hey Riel, when you grow up. Who are you going to marry?"
"Married? I will marry you."
"You're gonna marry me when you grow up?"
"Yes. Because we always play together. So we'll get married when we grow up."
"Hmm, promise me Riel. You won't marry anyone but me."
"Yes I promise."
A promise is made by two innocent children who don't even understand what love is.
However, after the promise was made, Riel was unable to play anymore with Aira because her parents were ordered to trade in the allied kingdom and that caused her family to move home to the kingdom.
5 The horse-drawn carriage had arrived at the Aira residence in the morning. Her father was busy moving things into the horse carriage while Aira kept asking permission to farewell Riel to her mother.
"Why is it suddenly like this, ma'am?" Aira asked while trying to let go of her mother's embrace.
"His Majesty Legnasio ordered us to expand our trade to the Kingdom of Datraoch. This is also in the interest of our family, Aira." His mother answered while stroking Aira's head.
"We're going back here again, right?"
"If you're an adult, you can visit Sapphire whenever you want."
"That means we won't be coming back here again?"
His mother was silent while smiling.
"Then let me meet Riel, Mom!" Aira is rebelling.
"Riel must not have woken up yet, you're just gonna interrupt her sleep, son."
"Wicked mother!" Aira finally gave up and cried.
All the items are finished packed. Aira's house is now not much different from the guard tower where he used to play with Riel and his friends. Empty, quiet and leaving behind many memories.
A group of horse carriages began to walk away from the Aira residence. While Aira was unable to hold back her tears that continued to flow profusely as her eyes were fixated on seeing the residence of Riel who was slowly moving away.
"Riel, I'm sorry."
Without knowing anything, Riel lost someone he promised to marry when he grew up. She asks her mother where Aira is going, but she just smiles and says that Aira will be back soon. Riel just nodded and continued to wait for Aira to come home.
