Contradictory Love's
39 - Friends From the Past

That morning at about 07:00 in the Wikatama Group, the atmosphere was not crowded. There were only a few officers in sight. The cleaning service is busy here.

Daniel exited the elevator leading to the floor where the room was. The atmosphere is still a bit stiff and certainly quiet. Daniel went into his room. He turned on the computer and started working. His eyes were suddenly fixed on a blue plastic envelope that was still wrapped neatly. His name is written there.

He opened the envelope and took out the documents inside. At once he understood that the document was a shipment from Calista.

Daniel opens the first map containing the divorce papers. He then took a breath and let go of it violently. His eyes still could not change from a complete name with a signature there. Now he knows that the decision is all in his hands. Calista has agreed to sign the dossier and now it's just waiting for his signature and it's all done. Daniel massaged his forehead. There is a feeling of unwillingness but also a feeling of hurt. Everything's mixed up there. For a moment he doubted whether his decision was right.

He grabbed a pen nearby and looked for his name in the file. When He was about to put his signature there, He stopped and set his intention. "Later." he muttered. He then closed the file and switched to the second map.

It turns out that Calista also returned all the ownership grant files of some of the companies Daniel gave him. None signed by Calista. He put all the files back in and when he lifted the plastic envelope, an object fell out of it. "Home lock? You don't want it either? How arrogant of you, Calista. Prestigious after being caught in your guise? You must be embarrassed, right? It turns out you still have a little self-esteem." muttered Daniel with a cynical smile.

Daniel went to his safe closet, dialed the code number and kept all the files and keys there.

He was silent for a moment considering the events of yesterday afternoon. Daniel is at a level of confusion about his feelings for Calista. On the one hand he still has feelings for the beautiful creature, on the other hand the pain of Calista's betrayal of him really makes him almost crazy!

The clock has shown eight o'clock over five minutes when Albert knocks on the door. Daniel who had just been daydreaming, jolted with the sound of the knock.

"Yes, come in."

"Good morning, sir. Today there is a guest who wants to meet, he said an old friend of the Father. He had not made an appointment so I asked him if he was willing or not. It just so happens that your agenda is still empty until lunchtime."

"Old friend? What's name?" Daniel asked curiously.

"Name Miss. Tanujaya Larasati, sir."

Daniel smiled for a moment. "Laras?.let him come in, I want to meet him."

Albert came out and soon he appeared with a beautiful woman following behind him. After letting the guest in, Albert walked out.

"Related? Geez...How long has it been?" daniel said as he hugged and spat."

The woman who was called by the small name of Laras was smiling sweetly. "Maybe it's about seven years" said Laras with a smile.

Laras was a good friend of Daniel while still studying in Arizona, USA. They were in love but not for about six months. Their relationship is actually not worth saying lover because Daniel is the type of man who is more concerned with learning at that time. Understandably, Daniel at that time only relied on scholarships to finance his master's college and also the cost of daily living.

Different from Barrel. His father was a diplomat so economically his parents were very able to finance his life. That's why Daniel is also somewhat insecure about dating Laras just because he can't always take Laras for a walk or a movie while his daily meal depends only on the scholarship.

"Danny, you're great now. I never expected a nerdy student like you, now already the second most successful businessman in Southeast Asia."

Daniel smiled, hearing the praise from Laras. "You yourself how is it now?" Ask Daniel.

Barrel smiled briefly. "I'm building a branch of my business here. My business is engaged in the provision of construction heavy equipment. The center is in Batam. Ever since I've been here, I've heard about you. You are very popular among all entrepreneurs. So. I decided to look for you."

"May your efforts succeed." said Daniel with sincerity.

"Actually." continued Laras, "to be successful like you, I want to ask for your help as a friend and ex-boyfriend of course."

Daniel laughed at Laras' last words. "Let's just say what kind of help you need."

Laras shifted his seat to get closer to Daniel. "Teach me managing a business. Let me be a trainee to apprentice to you directly. I promise I won't trouble you."

Daniel smiled as he nodded in agreement. To him helping an old friend was not something troublesome.

"Anyway, are you married, Danny?" tanya Laras who suddenly made Daniel wrong.

Daniel smiled wryly. "Yes, I was married a few months ago but my marriage and my wife are over the horns. Our marriage is in divorce proceedings."

Hearing that Laras smiled inwardly. He was also relieved to hear Daniel's confession. With a face he made sad, Laras said, "I'm sorry Danny. I didn't mean to make you sad. I'm sorry about your household."

"It's okay. I'm fine. Are you married yourself?" Ask Daniel back.

"I married an American three years ago. His name is Andrew Warren. But... He died in a plane crash. From then on I decided to start my business in my homeland so that I could forget about the event."

"I'm so sorry for what happened to your husband" Daniel said slowly.

"It's okay, it's all fate of the Power. So is this meeting of ours after seven years, for me a fate."

They continued to chat about their past until lunchtime. Daniel offers lunch together and Laras welcomes him with pleasure.

From morning until noon that day, they spent together reminiscing about the past.
