16 - Decision

Daniel looks restless in front of his parents, Lizbeth's parents and Lizbeth himself. The meeting that he deliberately arranged at a luxury restaurant is likely to be gloomy for the people in front of him in the next few moments. Daniel has decided to be forthright about Calista Chiu and his desire to cancel his engagement to Lizbeth.

Food has been served and they eat while chatting about their daily activities. Until the dessert is presented, Daniel has not revealed his reasons for inviting people in front of him to dinner together. Usually Daniel does it if he wants to celebrate the success or progress of his company.

The waiter serves the wine for the sexiest time. Daniel rang his glass with a sign spoon asking for the attention of the people before him.

"Tonight I invited you over for something. This time my invitation is not to celebrate something but .. to honestly say something that might actually be very, very disappointing to all of you, especially you Lizbeth." hearing Daniel's words, Daniel said, instantly Lizbeth looked at Daniel with a surprised face. Both Daniel's parents and Lizbeth's parents looked at each other with question marks.

"I met someone for almost a month. His name is Calista Chiu, my client from Taiwan. His mother is Indonesian and his father is Taiwanese. They settled in Taiwan." Daniel paused for a moment, loosening his tie slightly. He soaked his throat with wine. Instantly the atmosphere was very quiet.

"Short story, a. I. fell in love with her. I'm sorry, but all my life I've only had this incredible attraction to a woman. I can't lie to myself and you if I never wanted this engagement from the first moment. I want you to be happy with someone who's really in love with you, Lizbeth." Daniel looked at Lizbeth who had lowered his head to the floor. His irregular breathing endured the disappointment of Daniel's confession.

"With regret, I must be honest even if this is very painful. I ...

i... have made the decision to end this engagement tonight." Daniel stopped while looking at the faces before him that looked confused, disappointed, and angry. But he felt relieved. Daniel wants to really gently acknowledge everything.

"I apologize profusely to all of you that for the past two weeks I have been dating Calista Chiu secretly. I know it's not true. That's why I decided to open up tonight so that your disappointment isn't too deep." Daniel grabbed both hands of Lizbeth who was now sobbing.

"Lizbeth, you deserve to be happy, but it's not with me. Ii'm sorry. I never meant to play you. You are a beautiful, kind and patient woman. I believe you will definitely get a man who truly loves you with sincerity." Hearing Daniel's remark, Lizbeth pulled his hand and ran out of the restaurant. She pours out her tears there. His mother chased him to give him comfort and strength.

"Lizbeth Darling" said her mother, rubbing her head. "Don't be sad, son. At least Daniel's been honest with us."

Lizbeth nodded her head while continuing to sob. "I love her Ma."

Lizbeth's cry sounded louder. His heart was completely broken.

Daniel looked at the three people in front of him... He called the waiter to pay the bill.

"You have every right to hate me after tonight. But I also deserve to be happy with my choice. I'm sorry." After saying this, Daniel stood up. "Excuse me. I beg myself."

Daniel left the place with a face full of relief. His heart was no longer burdened. He felt his steps were lighter than a few hours ago when entering the parking lot.

Daniel drove his car with a smile of relief. He has made a complicated decision. No more secrets. He can't wait to meet his girlfriend tomorrow to tell her everything he just did!
