Laura woke up and she vaguely saw Gisel was drying his clothes in front of the room. The sun was already warm through the window of the room that Gisel had opened.
Laura stretched her stiff body. Then rubbed his face slowly. She stared at the dress she was wearing last night still slung neatly on the end of her study desk chair.
His mind rolled back last night's conversation with lecturer Sabiel. He recalled the lecturer's request to start not speaking formally to him. He also recalled that the young lecturer who was judged by the students managed to get him to give his personal mobile number that night. In fact, Laura has never given her persona to any man. Except for his father and uncle in Jakarta.
"I should have refused to give her my number." Laura regretted inwardly.
What happened to that teacher? Why did she suddenly ask Laura to call her name. Then how can Laura be impolite by just calling 'Sabiel' to her own lecturer. Moreover, the lecturer was far aged on it. Laura scrunched her forehead while shaking her head inexplicably.
Adults are sometimes difficult to understand.
"You awake?"
Gisel's question made Laura instantly smile widely.
"Bas with you!" Gisel took out the towel he was wearing to wrap around his wet hair right about Laura's face. "Where were you last night, huh?! I looked for you in the hall but you weren't there." Gisel ruffled his waist in front of Laura who was still lazing on the bed.
"I'm looking for you too. But you don't exist." Laura tried to defend herself.
"Where did you go after looking for me?" gisel asked, sitting on Laura's bed.
"I'm sitting by the outside door." Laura was silent for a moment. "Waiting for you to come out, but you're not coming out. So I went straight back to the dorm with some of the other residents." He did not say the matter of his lecturer to Gisel.
"What time are you home?" laura asked out of her sleep. His eyes looked at Gisel's eyes that looked radiant. His eyes began to squint suspiciously at the flash of happiness and reddish cheeks on his friend's round face.
"You know, I got acquainted with a senior major in chemistry there." Gisel couldn't bear to grin happily. "She lives in the sakula dormitory." he continued.
"It's only right that I didn't see you there, it turns out you were alone with a man." Laura snickered at Gisel who chuckled in embarrassment while returning to dry her half-wet hair with the towel she had thrown at Laura.
"That's it. You have no show today?" ask Gisel. He got up from his seat leaving Laura who was back to lay down.
"none. Indeed why?" laura asked as she raised both her legs to lean on the mattress headboard.
"Guide me to the bookstore. There are some books I should look for." pinta Gisel without turning to Laura.
"When?" ask Laura
"Later afternoon." said Gisel briefly.
🍁🍁🍁
In the afternoon, following Gisel's request, they went to a bookstore. The large bookstore is located in the center of Bandung. On Merdeka street opposite to Bandung Indah Plaza Mall, one of the popular hangout spots in Bandung.
Laura and Gisel walked down the main street to the bookstore. Gisel several times glanced at the various food carts parked neatly on the shoulder of the road. Laura had to pull it fast, so that Gisel did not always stop to buy all the food served there.
When the two of them reached the large bookstore, both Laura and Gisel immediately walked apart looking for books that were interesting according to their tastes. Gisel walked on a row of shelves of books of knowledge, while Laura walked on tables with many novels on them.
Laura seemed to linger on the shelves of translation novels. His eyes seemed excited to browse one by one the titles of the novels before him. Occasionally his hand picked up some books and then he read the synopsis. It didn't take long, Laura had already started to drown in enjoying so many tempting books for her to buy.
His gaze was fixed on the various genres of novels neatly arranged on the bookshelves. He continued to walk down every corner of the bookshelf there, until accidentally his shoulder clashed with someone who walked past him.
"Oh." Laura paused quietly as she rubbed her shoulder that was nudged by someone.
"Laura."
"Sabiel sir?!" Laura confirmed her eyesight. His eyes were a little surprised by the figure of the lecturer that he had thought about this morning.
"Who are you with here?" sabiel asked in surprise because he did not see anyone with Laura at that time.
"Friends." answered Laura briefly. "Whom is the father with?" Laura asked back.
"I'm ber... "
"Darling?"
Sabiel replied, Intan is coming from behind him. He looked at Laura. Look at him with a questionable look.
"Who is he?" ask Intan. His eyes looked at Laura from head to toe.
Laura who felt noticed like that felt awkward and uncomfortable. He smiled stiffly at Intan who seemed to be embracing Sabiel's arm.
Sabiel. He seemed confused to introduce Laura to Intan. These two women shouldn't have to meet like this. He did not want the two women in front of him to know each other.
"Darling?" Intan awakened her husband's composure.
"He was my student on campus. Laura, meet Intan. Father's wife." Sabiel was forced to introduce Intan to Laura.
Laura looked smiling kindly looking at Intan who was smiling stiffly at her. He was unaware of the unease that had struck Sabiel's heart back then.
"What book are you looking for?" Sabiel looked stale to Laura.
Laura did not know how to behave in front of the lecturer and his wife, she looked so awkward to respond to Sabiel's question.
"Novel is ordinary sir." Laura replied, her eyes occasionally glancing at Intan who continued to embrace her husband's arm. Sabiel realized Laura's gaze, she cleared her throat to neutralize her suddenly agitated heart.
"Honey.. Come on." The spoiled diamond.
"alright. Please continue. I'm leaving first." said Sabiel. He walked side by side with Intan to another part of the bookstore, after getting a nod of the head from Laura.
Laura was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, after the lecturer and his wife left her alone. Now he can go back to his favorite novels. In fact, instead of the current novels, Laura prefers classic novels. He felt that every word there was more poetic than a modern novel.
Long time Laura was drowning in a sea of books, without her realizing Sabiel was stealing glances at her. Intan once left Laura earlier, he immediately searched again for books about desiner. She did not know, that her husband walked away from her to re-enjoy Laura's beauty from a distance. Sabiel stared fixedly at the girl. He was like a predator in the woods.
Sabiel smiled every now and then, seeing Laura seem confused as to which book she would put in the basket. Laura is so adorable when she seems to be struggling to think about deciding her choice among the few novels she holds.
Sabiel squinted at a curious gaze when he saw another girl of Laura's age who came and immediately embraced Laura's shoulder.
Sabiel only realized that the girl was the same girl Laura was with on the night of the inauguration. Sabiel saw them laughing crisply there, no matter what they were talking about, until the laughter that came out was so tickling.
Sabiel smiled warmly at the girl he did not know her name, as if he was spoiling Laura. He leaned his head on Laura's shoulder, pursing his lips. Laura looks affectionately stroking the girl's hair gently. Highlight his eyes shady, making Sabiel feel at home looking at him continuously.
Sabiel immediately turned around, hiding among the huge pillars in the bookstore when he saw the two girls walking towards his place. His heart was pounding worried lest Laura caught him. Laura and Gisel walked casually towards the cashier. They had unknowingly passed through the huge pillar that had become Sabiel's hiding place. Sabiel's eyes continued to lurk Laura and Gisel's movements. He was only able to breathe a sigh of relief when he saw the two girls coming out of the bookstore.
Laura left, Leaving the transfixed Sabiel staring at her back.
