"Hey, pakabar!" I asked while resting near Laila's grave.
Like her she got many visits from her relatives and people around her who loved her figure, all of it can be seen from the flowers that are still wet on her grave.
"There's a lot I want to say to you, but it looks like you already know even if you're not here!" Then I rubbed his tombstone and placed the wreath I brought over his grave.
"Yesterday I visited Arya," I laughed until I was downcast. "You know, she really looks different to her plontos hair and prisoner's clothes. If only you were here maybe you'd have cut Arya all out!"
Then I fell silent for a moment and looked at the wreath that was leaning near his tombstone.
"And so, I want you to know one thing!"
I bowed listlessly.
"Archie, he.." I paused, "we're divorced!"
Wuuushh....
The wind blew through my hair so it fluttered towards the back. The smell of fresh fragrance from the bouquet I brought along with the still wet petals of jasmine on top of his grave gulped down my nose.
"He left me because there was one thing he couldn't avoid, and I wasn't so lucky that I had to hope Archie would love me because we were meant to be together!!"
I curled up while rubbing my two eyes to disguise the cry.
"I don't understand Laila, why everyone just walked away from me. Why would no one want to be by my side!!"
My tears are falling to the ground.
"California. I hate myself. I hate it in situations like this, I miss you. I want you here!!"
Wuusshs..
A strong wind blew against my body again. I felt like every word of mine was being greeted by this wind, as if Laila was listening to my talk even though she was not here.
"I'll go first!!" I said farewell after a few hours of shedding my sorrow at his final resting place.
"Thank you for listening to my speech. I'll come here every time I miss you!!"
I rubbed Laila's tombstone again, and left.
"For a long time not to meet. Arel!!"
I'm aghast.
A man with a burly body and a tall stature was flailing at me in front of the funeral gate.
"Uncle paisee!!" My exclamation.
He smiled and put a wide hat on his chest.
************
"So it turned out that uncle who often came here and sprinkled flowers to Laila's tomb!" My toot.
We talked at one of the cafe hangouts not far from the cemetery.
"I consider the boy a hero. He left this world in such a miserable manner, and all I can do is honor his sacrifice!!" Answer Paisee.
"Thank you, because uncle has noticed my friend!" I smile.
Paisee did not reply to me, but looked at me with a flat, cynical face.
"I've heard it all!" Said Paisee while shaking the glass filled with ice cubes.
I'm down.
"You must be suffering!" He threw his face away while breathing.
I replied with a thin smile.
"Bajing*n that little. He was really looking to die!!" Paisee clasping fist.
"In the end, neither I nor circumstances can do anything." My reply.
Paisee looks at me cynically.
"All I can do is accept. After all.." I raised my head to look at paisee, "i got a lot of assets and shares from the Yuaga family, and it was all worth my sacrifice all along."
"Huh..!!" Paisee suddenly interjected with an annoying look to jeer at me. "You don't think I know you're lying. As you say!!"
Paisee's eyebrows meet in order to say the word 'As you say' and then cross her left leg with a hunting breath.
"You're the most stupid and naive woman I've ever known in my entire life, son!!" Now he's all for me.
"What?" I'm dumbfounded.
"Look. Let me get it straight let you see things clearly and brightly!" His word.
Paisee leaned her body towards the table.
"All the things you have done, your sacrifices, your sufferings, your hardships, your labors, your sweat you have squeezed, your blood shed, to the tears you have shed. It's nothing compared to the treasure you received, young man!" Said Paisee fiery as she pointed at the table with her index finger, "even if you were rewarded with a mountain, it would not be comparable to what you have been doing all this time."
I was silent with a bent face.
"Arel!" Call Paisee.
"Even if you don't remember anything. But I know you more than anyone!!" Her speech.
I looked at him with a frown.
"I remember the day we met for the first time. I could never forget that incident even though my eyes were closed!!" Reciprocity.
Paisee took out a piece from her pocket and lit a match to burn it.
"You're wondering what I saw?" Ask.
I'm shaking.
"Monsters. I saw a monster in the bodies of two desperate little children!!" He answered while exhaling the cigarette smoke from his jigong.
Without explaining, I knew who Paisee was talking about. So that my hair immediately brimmed, even though I don't remember what happened at that time.
"Not many children are willing to risk their lives for someone they just met and even willing to change themselves to save others. Do you think such behavior is normal for a 6-year-old. I don't think so, because all my life I've only ever met someone like you!!" Paisee.
I glanced at the interest in his words, and grasped the body of the chair firmly.
"Do you think the strong bond between the two of you is a trivial matter that will be resolved by accepting reality and disappearing like a pounding wave?" Paisee exhaled her cigarette smoke then smiled pettyly at my expression. "I don't think so. The question between you exceeds the fate set by the author in the famous romance romeo and juliet!!"
"Sorry, sir!"
Suddenly we were both startled by a servant who came over.
"In the cafe you are not allowed to smoke!!" Further.
"Sorry!!" Said Paisee immediately turn off her whip. "Because I'm old, I don't see the rules in front of this place."
He reasoned.
"Ahh..fuck it. What kind of rule is that!" Paisee snared as the waiter walked out from before her.
"Uncle!!" Call me.
She's staring.
"Did uncle want to tell me that I was wrong to turn things around, and let everything go!?" My toot.
Paisee did not answer and looked at me with squinting eyes.
"Then what should I do. Didn't uncle already know everything that happened to me!?"
Paisee remained silent and looked at me with that look.
"Archie told himself that our relationship was hopeless. And again, I'm also no longer useful because of my psychological condition that is unable to remember events in those days." I told Paisee.
Paisee listened with solemnity.
"Then, he will also soon marry the woman who has been chosen by his family to be his life companion. And I.."
"Are you sure he really wants to marry another woman, and leave you alone?" Paisee asked cutting my words.
"I'm.."
"If that rancid boy really wanted to marry another woman. Then why would he cancel your divorce and engineer a fake marriage and make that woman take your place, so that it would never get you divorced!!" Cut Paisee.
"W-what?" I'm surprised I didn't know this from Paisee.
Paisee smiled satisfiedly at my expression.
"Uncle. What did you just say!?" My toot.
He sighed and corrected his seating position.
"Have you ever heard the term red thread?" Ask.
I'm shaking.
"We call it 'Akai Ito' or 'Unmei No Akai Ito' which means red thread destiny whose story is very famous in our home country!" Paisee.
I shut up and listened.
"We believe, when humans were first born into this world, they were immediately tied by a small thread on their little finger by a god, he said, and that common thread will connect directly with the couple who will be our soul mate." Paisee.
I'm listening.
"In short, if two humans are connected by a common thread since they were born. Want them separated between space and time, distance and circumstances, to caste and throne. No one will be able to break or separate the bonds between them, even though the gods themselves!!" Paisee.
Suddenly Paisee took my hand and pointed at my little finger.
"That's what I saw when I first met you two!"
I'm swerving.
"I see the red thread destiny on your little finger!"
Paisee looked at me with emphasis.
"And at that moment I immediately realized, if the gods have set you two up to be a true couple!!"
