Like the previous nights, Selena curled up in the bathtub in a dress she had been wearing since morning. The woman closed her eyes, then turned the faucet, letting the shower above her draw out water and wet the body.
Selena may not cry anymore, but the wound in her heart is still there. The former was bigger than he thought. When he was alone, the pain seemed to spread, gnawing at every nerve of his body. Invisible, not even bloody, but able to make Selena can not sleep soundly every night.
Tests.
Tests.
The water overflows, making some fall to the floor and pool around the bathtub.
Selena opened her eyes, only for a brief moment as she submerged her body into the water.
“Make me..forget Emilia.”.
Why...the sentence always ringing in his head?
**
“I need Sam.”
Eros who was slicing his toast looked up. A little stunned by Selena's appearance this morning. In a knee-length floral dress, Selena appears to display a different impression, which she had never seen before. Like a sweet and submissive woman. It is not the dissident figure that always makes Eros have to pull his veins when talking.
“I've already given you—“
“Selena!”
Eros' attention turned again to a man who suddenly entered the house and interrupted his speech.
“Why is he here?”
Selena smiled with satisfaction while plucking an apple and biting it in half. “While becoming a model, I need my assistant.”
“Selena!” Sam seemed to be running slightly towards the woman and ignored Eros who was staring intently at her. “Oh God! Lately you often disappear without news,” he said as if insinuating. “The car is ready. Do we have to leave now?”
Eros was still faithfully staring at the two men as he grabbed the glass filled with water and gulped it down. “Remove your hands from my future wife.”
Sam blinked. Glancing at her hand that held Selena's hand, then turned to look at Eros and smiled, mocking. “Calon wife? Who do you mean?”
"Come in without permission and talk arbitrarily, it has explained what you are like" Eros said sharply.
Sam shrugs, indifferent. "Just like you did with Selena, it also explains what you look like."
Selena sighed softly. “Already, come on, we're leaving now.” He pulled Sam's hand to leave the place immediately, otherwise the two would have fought each other after this.
“Go,” says Eros then stops Selena steps. “But my people will follow you— wherever you go .”
Selena glared, not wanting to heed the man's words, while Sam just laughed cynically. “How could you ever fall in love with a guy like that?” he said in a loud voice.
**
Mrs William was aghast from her seat when she saw Eros' car parked in front of the house from behind her bedroom window. The middle-aged woman smiled brightly and put down her tea. He rushed out of the room to greet the man.
“Eros, my son!”
Eros just silently received his mother's brief hug. Just then, he saw the figure of Emilia who was descending the stairs with Alex with a large suitcase carried by the man.
“Mother is glad you're here, Nak.”
Eros let go of her mother's embrace, but her gaze was still fixed on Alex and Emilia stopping the steps.
**
“Married?” Lady William smiled blandly. Once again make sure that what he just heard is not true. “Are you in no hurry?”
“I don't care if Mom likes Selena or not. She won't be staying with Mom.”
“Eros, watch your talk,” Alex says full warning.
Eros glanced at Alex and looked at the man holding Emilia's hand tightly. Like protecting.
It seems Alex has realized. Yep. It should have been from the beginning Alex did realize it—that Eros never messed around. He's the indiscriminate type.
“My decision is round. I'll get married on Sunday.”
Everyone was shocked, especially Mrs William.
“Eros—“
“Sorry to interrupt, Mom,” cut Alex then. Next to the man's hand was clenched. “Can you please take Emilia forward?”
Mistress William looked at her two sons staring at each other with a flat and cold gaze. After sighing softly, the middle-aged woman nodded resignedly.
“Come, Emilia.”
Emilia glanced at Alex as the man let go of his grasp without turning his head again, even as Lady William led her away from the place.
“Don't keep pressing Mom with your attitude like that.” Alex sat straight across the table. Staring at Eros was sterner than usual.
Eros smiled wryly. “Press you said? Ever since I was a child I always kept his word and did things I never liked.”
Her mother and father told her to take all the private lessons Alex did. Ask him to maintain manners while eating and talking. Told him to get a— ratingat least the top ten of every school exam. Tell him to master four languages like Alex. Everything Alex. Even Emilia was betrothed to Alex.
“She is your Mother. The person who has given birth to you with great difficulty.” Although Alex is only a stepson, but he is still hurt when he sees Eros treating Lady William with all his attitude.
“Then ignore me to take care of you, so?” sahut Eros with a slick tone. “Say, is there a reason for me to trust my own family?” The man shook his head. “No.”
Alex smiled lightly. His patience is almost at the limit. “Although you don't believe it, it's no reason to hurt your own family.”
Eros laughs. A snide laugh filled with wounds. Why is Alex saying as if he's the worst guy here? Not the ones who are hurt. They only reap what they plant.
Alex is at his limit. He got up from the chair and pulled the front of Eros' shirt, so the man lifted slightly from his seat. “I used to love every time I saw your laugh, but now it feels so sick.”
Eros who was innocent and who Alex so loved, has now turned into a figure he never imagined before.
“Good, because I'm more fed up with you.”
Alex's jaw hardened and further tightened his grip on Eros' shirt. “I remind you, never touch my baby candidate.”
Eros grinning. “Am I not kind? At least he didn't die like my son.”
“What...are you saying?”
Alex poached. He hurriedly released his grip and turned around with a panicked face. “Mother?!”
Lady William approached with a pale face. His gaze was straight at Eros who looked the calmest among the three people. “Mom asked, what did you just say, Eros?!” asked the middle-aged woman in an impatient tone.
Alex glanced at Eros quickly. While the man smirked thinly. “My son,” he said in a satisfied tone. “My son who once grew up in the womb of Emilia.”
