"It's okay, I understand this is for the good of our children. Thank you for thinking about Gwen, Paul" Abraham said by phone.
The man apparently was calling Paul, his iron-clad and old friend. After saying this, Abraham hung up the phone.
As Abraham turned around, he was startled by Gwen's existence who was now looking at him suspiciously.
"What do you mean by 'the good of our children'?" Without further ado, Gwen immediately asked a piece of the sentence she had heard earlier.
Abraham moved uneasily. "Just talk to Dad's colleague, son," he replied.
"I clearly heard my father-in-law's name, from Dad's mouth! Tell me what you've been hiding from me!" exclaim Gwen coldly.
Abraham remained silent. He was about to give it up again, but Gwen hurriedly snapped at him. The girl had even been crying roaring while begging to tell the truth.
Not having the heart to find a child just like that, Abraham also opened his voice.
...**********...
"Maxim was discovered after one month of disappearance. He was apparently rescued by a rented boat owner while drifting at sea for almost a week."
"The conditions are pretty bad. Maxim was in a coma for almost three months before finally waking up. However, he lost his memory."
"That's why, your father and father-in-law decided to separate the two of you, Gwen. This is all we do for the common good, especially your own good."
Gwen's tears flowed back, each remembering the words that came from her father's mouth.
Persetan with kindness. Nothing good is created by their selfish decisions. After forcing her to marry Maxim, now the two parents also take the decision to separate themselves from Maxim.
Gwen was angry. He goes to Keysersberg alone to meet Maxim. No matter if Maxim would reject him, he would still meet the man.
Gwen's heart beat rapidly, as her taxi entered the grounds of the Eginhard family home. Apparently Gwen's kdetangan already known by Paul and Calia.
As soon as we got out of the taxi, Calia and Paul greeted the daughter-in-law with a warm hug. They apologized for making the decision without thinking about their feelings.
"I'm sorry Mom and Dad, son. We only visited you once" Calia said regretfully. Paul apologized to Gwen.
Gwen returned the embrace of her mother-in-law. "No need to apologize, Ma, Pa. I'm the one who caused Max that way" he exclaimed.
Calia shook her head. Without realizing the three, someone suddenly came interrupting.
Gwen is shocked to find Maxim standing there. In addition to the whiskers and the thin beard that grew, its appearance looked the same as it used to be.
"Max," call Gwen.
Maxim fell silent as he took a look at Gwen's face. "Are you someone I should know too? Sorry, if I can't recognize you," he said later.
Hearing Maxim's words, Gwen reflexively turned to Calia.
"Maxim also had time to forget us," Calia said slowly.
"Better we go in first." Paul opened his voice. The old man invited the three of them to enter the house.
When he arrived inside, Gwen could not find her wedding photo that had been displayed next to the family photo of Eginhard. Apparently, the father was the one who asked Paul to take down the photo.
The four talked for a while about Maxim's condition. Both Eginhard's family and his family agree to tell Maxim that he fell into the sea while sailing with Paul and Calia.
Meanwhile, Gwen introduces herself as the son of an old friend of Paul's.
"Uncle Abraham never told me about his family, so I didn't recognize you at all. Sorry," Maxim said as the two arrived at the second-floor balcony. Paul and Calia had indeed intentionally left them both behind.
"By the way, how close were we?" ask Maxim.
Gwen paused for a moment, before then smiling wryly. "I don't know how to describe it, which is clear our relationship is very close."
Maxim raised his eyebrows. "Oh yeah? I can't believe I have a friend of the opposite sex. After seeing your face, maybe I can remember it."
Gwen nodded.
"Well, it just takes time, but maybe you can hit me. Who knows, I can remember you right away."
Gwen laughed a little. Eyes could not be seen the face of Maxim who was now busy staring at the yard of his house.
"Max, as long as you've lost your memory, is there anything that's stuck in your mind?" ask Gwen later.
"What about?"
"Anything. It could be memories of something or someone."
Max thought, then shook his head. "It seems like nothing. I had a weird dream, though," he said.
"What dream?" ask Gwen curiously.
"Eitherway. In the dream there was only a small house whose size might not be bigger than my mother's greenhouse."
Gwen's heart was tingled. Maybe it was their little house. "Then, is there anything else?"
Maxim is back. "none. Why why?"
"There's nothing. Just wanted to ask." Not wanting to overload Maxim's mind, Gwen decided not to pry any further. Because, no matter what, they had just met again.
The two also talked lightly about each other's activities, until it did not feel like dinner had arrived.
After finishing dinner, Gwen intended to leave and sleep in the hotel. He doesn't want to make Maxim think weird, if he stays there.
Paul and Calia release Gwen's decision.
Gwen asks permission to meet Maxim, who is busy cleaning her bionic hand.
"From the look on your face, you seem to know about this," Maxim said, referring to the fake hand.
"Of course." Answer Gwen. "Here I help," he bargained.
Maxim let Gwen put the hand together. His forehead had shriveled, when he knew Gwen had no trouble pairing it, but ordinary people could not necessarily install it.
"Are you used to helping me?" ask Maxim.
"Not really." Gwen answered without distracting herself. The girl then exclaimed happily after successfully putting up Maxim's fake hand.
Maxim smile. "Look, you're the only outsider who doesn't pity me after seeing this. Maybe because it's not your first time, is it?"
Despite being called an 'outsider', Gwen kept smiling. "Don't get me wrong, I do love you!"
Maxim sculpts instantly. Not because of heartache, but like never heard similar words somewhere.
Gwen, unaware of Maxim's facial features, leaves after saying goodbye to him.
Maxim didn't move from there at all, and just looked at the girl's chest.
