20. Maxim Actually.

"You must be surprised by Mama's sudden arrival huh?" ask Calia, Maxim's birth mother. The woman had indeed decided to meet the son-in-law directly.

"I—iya, Mother. I just don't have any preparation." Feeling that there was no point in lying, Gwen answered her mother-in-law's questions honestly.

Calia chuckled, a laugh that sounded very melodious in Gwen's ears. At first glance, the mother-in-law reminded the girl of her late mother.

"It's been a long time that Mama actually wanted to come here, but it hasn't been because of some things that have to be done" Calia said.

"Ahh, I should have met Mama and Papa. I'm sorry, so it's Mama who has to bother to come here" Gwen said.

"No problem, dear," Calia replied as she continued to take out some items from her shopping bag.

Gwen frowned deeply as she looked at the various foodstuffs Calia had bought. Because, these food ingredients have the best of all and the price is also definitely expensive.

Didn't their family come from a simple family? Did Calia deliberately sacrifice her money because of Gwen?

"No need, dear. He comes home at whatever time it's the same." Answer Calia. The woman then asks Gwen to come closer to her. They chatted casually about Gwen and Maxim's domestic life.

There was not much Gwen could say, other than things that could be seen from the outside. He refuses to reveal his relationship with Maxim which now feels far away.

"Marriage without love feels very heavy. But Mama is sure you can get through it. Gradually the feeling will definitely grow over time," said Calia.

Gwen remained silent. He hesitated about Calia's words, because he himself did not understand what she felt for Maxim.

The only thing Gwen can conclude right now is that feeling hangs her life, because it's the only man she has in this foreign place.

Calia suddenly picked up a large goodie bag that she placed under the television, and showed it to Gwen.

"Photo album?" muttered Gwen.

"The two of you should know each other better. Mama thinks she knows about you, but you don't know anything about her yet, do you?" The beautiful woman also opened each photo album sheet while briefly explaining the places or meanings contained in each photo.

Gwen smiled. Maxim looks so cute baby time. Her face was plain and adorable.

"This who's Ma?" ask Gwen.

"This is Axel, Maxim's older brother. Their age is five years. Axel is Maxim's only idol. Since childhood she always followed in her brother's footsteps, from starting school in the same place, tutoring, getting into college to a career."

Gwen nodded her head. "college? Career?"

"Yes, Axel was an army officer, and Maxim followed suit."

Hearing Calia's reply, Gwen was surprised instead of playing. "Ang—katan ashore?" said the girl stuttered.

Calia nodded.

"He never told me! All this time, all I know, Maxim lived a simple life by opening a fruit shop. That's what Dad said!" Unknowingly Gwen raised her tone.

Gwen was getting less and less understood. "Then about the incident, what happened to Ma?"

"However, somehow the story goes, a group of people suddenly attacked the army military camp blindly, causing some casualties. As the boss in charge, Axel decided to pursue the group alone. Maxim who knew about it finally followed ...." Calia suddenly stopped her conversation to take a breath for a moment.

"When Maxim got there, Axel died. Maxim wrath. Regardless of the circumstances that only came alone, he tried to avenge the group."

Gwen could only grumble upon hearing Calia's story. He was about to tell Calia to stop, but the woman went on with the story.

"Maxim succeeded in subverting several people, including two who had killed Axel. But still, he was outnumbered. Just as Maxim was about to take Axel, suddenly a tank appeared and hit him who was on the bike."

Gwen widened her eyes wide, especially as Calia connected her final explanation.

"Because of that incident, Maxim had to lose his left hand."

A single tear that Calia had been holding back had spilled. The woman cried without a sound. And so did Gwen who was crying.

His memory returns to the moment they came home from the store using Mr's motorbike. Donald. Maxim fell unconscious when he got home. Because the trauma was quite large.

What about the left hand of the man? Has he been wearing fake hands? Because, the hand is not at all different from the original hand in general.

A variety of feelings are now starting to rage in Gwen's mind, including feelings of guilt.

He once insulted Maxim's pride. He also once yelled at himself and behaved insolently. Not to mention the mockery about the bike at the time.

While what Maxim did to her all this time turned out to be looking after her. That's why he was so angry, when he found out Gwen left the house and even hitched a ride in Jack and Allan's car.

Everything Maxim did wasn't as bad as Gwen thought.
