The Useless 8th Prince

The Useless 8th Prince
Black Lily City

“Finally we get to.”

Looking at the giant gate towards the city, Ciel's expression looked complicated. It's not that he's not happy. Only, he felt this was too much.

When looking at his entire territory from the map he was carrying, Ciel felt that the attitude of the people in the palace was excessive. The territory he possessed was equal to or slightly wider than that of the Marquis. That sort of thing must have attracted a lot of trouble.

Within the Empire, there were three types of nobles. First, of course the Imperial family. Second, there were high nobles that included Duke, Marquis, and Count. Lastly, there were lower class nobles namely the Viscount and the Baron.

Each noble has its own territory. Even high nobles were also given the privilege of raising other nobles under him. But the title of nobility raised is only useful in their respective regions. For example, Marquis A appointed a Viscount. The viscount was a noble in the area of Marquis A. While in the territory of Marquis B, the title does not apply.

In conclusion the higher the degree to which a noble is raised, the more useful the title will be. A Duke and Marquis were able to raise a Count, but their degrees were different. Except for the division of territory, the title of nobility was almost the same as the title of European nobility in Ciel's previous life.

Although it could raise nobles, each noble had their own limit of eight people. A Duke could have 3 Marquis and 5 Counts in his territory. A Marquis could have 3 Counts and 5 Viscounts in his territory. While the Count could have 3 Viscounts and 5 Barons. Of course, they were all subject to one Emperor.

In the Black Sun Empire, the region was divided into five parts. The Central Plain, the most rich and fertile central part was the territory that the Imperial family managed and was often called the Royal Capital. The other four regions that were slightly smaller than the Central Plain were divided based on the direction of the currency managed by the four dukes under the Emperor. Of course, the dukes would pay a lot of taxes each year.

From that explanation, it was clear just how vast the land a Marquis possessed. As far as Ciel was concerned, the territory given to him was the possession of nobles who were executed for betraying the Empire. Many nobles yearned for such a rich location. The person who came out of nowhere like him and immediately took his place must have been the target of hatred.

Not to mention, as he gained self-sufficient territory, the Duke who controlled the southern part of the Empire lost nearly a quarter of his territory. Ciel felt forced to become a gladiator and told to fight a giant lion at the beginning of the fight. He really has a headache.

Damnit damnit! It's full of hate!

Ciel cursed in his heart. Sentences of hope that do not match expectations are really still valid in this world. Wanting to live a relaxed life without much thought, now he even got a lot of problems that made his head feel so heavy.

The power of a self-serving Duke was a tier 6 demon. As for his father, the Emperor was a tier 7 (late) demon. It might not be long to break through level 8. Except for the Duke or Emperor from the previous generation, no one was as strong as the Emperor right now.

The three retired former dukes were tier 7 demons, but Ciel could not confirm which part they were in. As for his own grandfather .. The old monster was really a tier 8 demon. To Ciel's grandmother, she had died before she was born.

Usually the Emperor or nobleman will have several wives and concubines, such as his father who has 3 wives. But his grandfather was different, he only had a wife. The old man was famous for his wisdom and strength. He could be considered one of the Heroes of the Demon race.

Of course .. he hates me so much. Made of the same material, instead of being a gem.

Ciel thought as he remembered the old man. As Emperor in the previous era, his grandfather knew little of the ancestral knowledge and guessed that Ciel raised the Eye of the Lord. The reason was simple, he had beautiful looking golden eyes.

Ciel refused, of course. At first the grandfather did not believe and he was finally beaten to confess. After holding back for quite a while, the old man finally gave up. His different irises could only be considered a mutation because in the legend of the Eye of The Lord was shown with two golden irises instead of one.

Despite having been tortured by his grandfather, Ciel did not hate and had little pity on the old man. First, he pityed for having dashed his grandfather's hopes. Second, Ciel's father and mother hated his grandfather for thinking he didn't want to train because of trauma. He himself chose to close himself, but grandfather became a victim. Yeah ... Ciel kind of regretted that.

But the old man was even extremely cruel towards his own grandson!

Ciel cursed in his heart. He wanted to take revenge but eventually forgot about it. What is revenge? It was a level eight existence! The peak existence in this world.

The reason Ciel said that was because he had never heard of the existence of a Demi-God level Devil except in the storybook. He himself was not sure whether such an existence was merely contrived or real. Not affecting his life too much, Ciel decided to forget about it.

“We have arrived, Sir!”

Hearing Camellia's voice, Ciel awoke from her daydream. Looking outside the window, a majestic building was seen in his eyes. It was the castle that belonged to the previous Marquis. Of course, now the building along with its contents became his.

Passing through the gates, many knights lined up to welcome the arrival of the new lord of this region. Stopping right near the steps leading to the main castle, the carriage door was opened by the coachman. Ciel went down from there followed by Camellia.

“Thank you very much for your hard work, Mr. Kusir.” Ciel said with a calm expression. To the coachman's surprise, it might be because his appearance was different from the one the person remembered earlier.

“An honor could serve you, Prince!” said the old coachman while bowing politely.

“For the items carried, you can move them. Me and Camellia will go in first.”

“According to your order, Prince.”

In the shocked eyes of the old coachman, Ciel and Camellia entered into the main castle building.

Passing through the giant door, Ciel saw many beautiful women in waiter clothes lined up on the left and right sides of the passageway. Seeing his arrival, they all immediately bowed respectfully while exclaiming simultaneously.

“Welcome, Sir!”

“Bless your head,” said Ciel with an indifferent expression. Seeing them rise up and looking at him with a curious expression, he continued, “Who is in charge here?”

A very beautiful adult Succubus bowed politely. “This lowly lamba in charge as the head maid, Mr.”

“Name?”

“This lamba is called Isabella, Mr.”

“Then take me to the Marquis's office earlier.”

“You just arrived, wouldn't it be better-“

“Just do as I say.” Ciel cut Isabella's words coldly.

The woman looked frightened before bowing politely. “Pardon the attitude of the disrespectful servant, Sir. The road to the workspace, please follow me, Mr.”

“Good.”

After walking for quite a while, they arrived at a spacious room. There were two giant shelves on the left and right of the room. Of course, the shelf was filled with books. In the middle of the room, there is a table and chairs to relax. In addition, there is a work desk close to a large window.

Ciel walked towards the window. Looking at the scenery outside, he could see the scenery of Black Lily City. In addition to this building is high, the location of the building is also on a high hill. So wide visibility is a natural thing.

Seeing the prosperous and beautiful city, Ciel let out a long sigh. His eyes emitted an inexplicable cold gleam.

“Because it is so valuable, it makes too many people want it.”
