The Revenge of the President

The Revenge of the President
Chapter 73. Endless regret

The rain was pounding with a rush, the cold air was getting piercing. Out there, the trees are swinging, because the wind is blowing. The lights, in the hospital, are on.

The night atmosphere seemed lonely. Usually, at this hour, there are still many visitors who pass by. Maybe it was cold, making them stay in the room. There are only, health workers pacing back and forth, tirelessly. They check patients, in every room, with medical equipment. There was also, the janitor, who was still finishing his work.

Dave was sitting next to the gurney, where his wife was lying. He continued to grip tightly, hand attached to the infusion needle. The other hand, however, was covered in bandages.

"Young master, please eat a little!" pinta sir Yus, who was only answered with a head-butt by Dave.

Since this afternoon, Dave has not eaten anything. He continued to be mute, his face puffy and his appearance was messy. Sometimes, he cried for no reason, seeing his wife lying with her eyes closed.

That deathly pale face, lying peacefully, there were no tears, which used to wet both of his cheeks. Perhaps, he was dreaming there, his smile was glimpsed at his lips.

Dave stroked Arshila's hair gently. He kept waking up his wife. Wake up! So you can repay me. Please, be aware! Dave looked up, trying to ward off his tears, which just kept dripping. He kissed the hand he held and continued to bathe.

"Sir." Mother Lin handed me a plate of food. "You must stay healthy, in order to keep the young Miss. If you're sick, who woke the lady from her dream."

Dave hasn't picked up, still staring at the food. He's totally, no taste. Merely, water was acceptable to his throat, at this moment.

But, uh,

Dave received Lin's mother's gift. Forcing his mouth to open. Tasteless, very bland. The food, it has no taste in its tongue. He drank water, pushing his food down his throat.

He forced himself, finishing food in a dish. He must be healthy, for his wife and baby.

"Tian," called Dave, without looking. "Go home. As long as my wife isn't aware, I'm not going to the company. So, take care of everything!"

"Good, Sir." His secretary bowed in respect. Then, say goodbye to Mr. Yus and Lin's mother.

The mood was silent again. This room, like it's uninhabited. Only the sound of rain could be heard, from behind the glass window. Everyone is busy, with their own thoughts. Ms. Lin and Mr. Yus, sit on the sofa, for a short break. Meanwhile, Dave is drowning in his grief and regret.

The guilt is mounting, like a heavy burden in the heart, Dave. A burden, which somehow alleviates it.

It all begins, due to her love for Clarissa and the baby, which she suspects belongs to her. Revenge, even though Arshila has got her punishment. He did not accept, even though the woman, obviously did not intentionally do it.

Arshila's punishment was too light and it was not worth the death of Clarissa and her fetus.

Now, it's all for nothing. Clarissa did not love him and the fetus in the woman's womb, not hers. Arshila, who was the target of anger, endured the suffering, which made her not want to live anymore.

After the facts were revealed, it was too late. Arshila was helpless. It was, attached to medical equipment. He chose death to end his suffering.

Apologies and tears, can't erase mistakes. In fact, it cannot restore the situation as before. Dave could only regret and wonder, if time could back down.

"Master, rest. Let's just, we're guarding her." Sir Yus approached, with Lin's mother.

"No, necessary. Guys, gohome! Tomorrow morning, bring clothes for me and Arshila."

"Please, go home. I want to be alone, with him. I'll call if I need anything."

Mr. Yus did not immediately, answering. He looked at Lin's mother, asking for an opinion. The woman nodded her head in response.

"Well, sir," replied Mr. Yus.

They also say goodbye, bring some unused items, to take home.

Dave was free to spill his grief. He stroked Arshila's flat stomach. He stroked carefully, remembering there was a bandage, bandaged by his wife. Her mind was crying, remembering the pain Arshila felt. I don't know what the woman was thinking, until it was so desperate.

Well, maybe, because that woman can't do it anymore. And his patience was exhausted when he asked him to shed his flesh and blood. If today, it happened, he would somehow face life. His regret towards Arshila alone, had already made his life feel ruined. What, if plus the fault in the fetus?

"Darling, it's dad. You're okay, right? Forgive dad. Sorry for doubting you." Dave sniffling. "Please, wake up your mother, so that I can make amends to her."

Elus elus, again, wiping his tears. He fell down with tears falling down. The pain really hurt, because he could do nothing, to reduce the burden in his heart. It's sad, because despite having everything, he doesn't know how to apologize to Arshila.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Please, forgive me!"

Continuously, repeating the same word. Although, Arshila did not listen to her apology.

"I'll make it up to you. I will do anything to forgive me. Please, awake!"

Talking alone, apologizing and blaming himself. No one, no one, would deny it. There's just, the clinking sound of a wall clock.

It's raining out there, it's starting to subside even though it's still spatter. It's 11 p.m. Dave was still sitting, without even budging. His hands, still clasping tightly. His gaze was still loyal, to his wife. He continued to stare fixedly, at that deathly pale face.

The shadow of the suffering of the wife, making her unable to close her eyes. Memory, when his hands were always raised and landed on his wife's face, without mercy. That face, could only cry, beg for forgiveness, though it was not his fault.

Well, why would Arshila choose silence, rather than telling the truth? Why did he choose to endure it all, when he suffered so much?

What is hidden? Did her ex-husband threaten her? But, what?

Dave started thinking about Dimas. He forgot about the man, because his mind was too busy thinking about his mistakes. Dimas!! the man who made him a demon.

Just wait!!

Dave's eyes narrowed, his memory retreated a year ago. An old woman, who came prostrating and apologized. The woman, turn the facts around. Torturing Arshila, leading Dave to believe that the woman is living like a queen. In fact, he was like a maid who was hired for free.

"I'll reply, you two." Jaw hardens. "For a long time, you guys had fun and laughed at my stupidity."

Dave stroked Arshila's hair again, landed a kiss, then smiled.

"I'll get back at them, baby. Please realize, I will make up for my mistakes by making you happy. I'll keep it all." Kiss again, this time for a long time. He breathed in the scent of his wife's body. If only, Arshila was unharmed. He wanted to sleep next to her and hugged her tightly.
