The House in the Middle of Sawah
Cigarette Smoke

I got acquainted with Pak Lik's and Ms. Febi's husband and wife. His name is Mr. Jarwo or Lik Wo and Bu Sumini. They are very friendly and far from mystical or horror impressions, in contrast to the yard of his house full of banyan trees. Frankly, when I first got to this house my hair kept goosebumps, the weather was cool, the cool odd.

"Today, what is the need for nduk, dolan or what?", asked Lek Wo to Febi.

"Yes dolan to Lik, it has not been here for a long time" replied Febi smiling and glancing at me.

"Well, if Dani's son, what did he need to do here?", asked Lik Wo to me with a smile.

I cleared my throat, I'm sure Febi had told Lik Wo before, this question is just a stale base. However, I also felt the need to tell the story in detail and ask for advice I should how to next. I started to tell Lik Wo the fact that my family and I lived in a house that for nineteen years felt very comfortable. But suddenly there was a streak of events that was beyond my understanding. First, the incident in the bathroom experienced by Febi and Erni. Second, a feeling like someone was peeking at what Febi felt. Third, Irul's voice joked with someone while Irul was sleeping. Fourth, the appearance of a hairy figure in the river near the house. Fifth, a whispering voice that sounds very real with a breath that is felt in the ear. And what makes me most parno an is Lek Jo who came at midnight, when during the day his body was found hanged himself.

Lik Wo sighed. Then move on from his seat. Heading to the room at the very front close to where we were sitting. I turned to Febi for an explanation. Febi was conscious, but only gestured to put an index finger on her lips. A moment later Lik Wo returned with a pack of cigarettes placed in a golden package. Lik Wo returned to his seat.

"Please nak .", Lik Wo thrust out one of the cigarettes he took out of the pack.

"Sorry Lik, I don't smoke" I refused. I don't smoke, I don't feel comfortable with cigarette smoke.

"Come on Dan, here's the condition", Febi told me. I looked up, confused, not understanding.

I was forced to take the cigarette and then stuff it into my mouth. Lik Wo immediately picked up a match and lit the end of the cigarette in my mouth. After lighting up I slowly smoke the cigarette. It felt warm air entering my mouth into my throat and suddenly felt hot in my stomach area. I choked. Cigarette smoke came out of my mouth. I glared, because the smoke that came out was pitch black and amazingly many. I coughed. My throat hurts, my nose feels bad, while my eyes hurt watery. Shit, thought. It's really painful. Trying to complain, but my voice did not come out.

"Close your eyes and", a voice, maybe Febi told me to.

I closed my eyes, the tightness in my chest, the heat in my throat gradually subsided. And finally healed. I took a breath and opened my eyes. Lik Wo in front of me, looks shocked. It looked from the gurat on his face like a person holding back angrily. It's not good news, my heart. Trying to ask, my voice has not come out.

"Here you go, son" said Lik Wo. Kulirik Febi, from his face looks also an expression that is not much different from Lik Wo.

"Ibukk. .try making ginger tea a bit hot bukk", shouted Lik Wo to Bu Sumini who was in the back.

"Let's not explain, you're just a first yes", Lik Wo justifies his sitting position. I'm still holding my neck, a little sore and hot.
