Chapter 67. Hard choices

A few minutes earlier, Bram was driving his car after he learned from Nilam that Amayra and Satria were walking to an amusement park.

Regardless of the traffic signs, Bram drove his car speedily. He ran through the red light until the police came after him. Bram doesn't care and continues to gas into the amusement park, thinking of two lives that may be in danger due to Alexis's madness.

"Sir! You've violated traffic signs! Please pull over sir!" Shouts from the police in the car.

"I'm sorry sir, I'm in an emergency!" Bram is getting more gas.

The sound of police sirens kept ringing, Bram ignoring her. He called Amayra on his way. "Why not get caught up too? Damnit damnit! Lift it! Lift it!" Bram was in his panic and fear.

A few minutes later Bram arrived near the amusement park parking lot, the police were still behind him. Bram saw a car speeding towards Amayra, immediately Bram slammed the steering wheel trying to precede the speeding car. "No!" Shouted Bram frantically seeing Amayra still standing near the fence of the parking lot.

"Mayra!!" shouted Satria who had just come out of the amusement park.

Satria ran over to the pregnant woman, Amayra was no longer able to run. Then there was a collision involving Bram's car as well. Bram got ahead of the car even though it was a little late. But, the collision was already inevitable.

"Astagfirullahaladzim!" Shouted a mother there surprised to see blood splattered on the asphalt.

"What's going on? It's so sorry that pregnant woman!" A man is worried.

"Oh God!"

Luckily, the police were there and immediately arrested the man who looked like he wanted to escape from there.

Smoke from Bram's car and the crash car. Bram was down in his car. His head was bleeding, he immediately got up from there with great difficulty. "Amayra, my son," murmured Bram worried for Amayra and her baby.

Unstable, Bram got out of the car with the help of the police. Bram is shocked to see Satria and Amayra lying on the asphalt in a bloody condition. Next to him, there is a doll given by Satria who was also exposed to his blood.

"Hiss," Satria was still hugging Amayra, she felt some parts of her body being injured and sick. Satria looked towards Amayra, the pregnant woman unconscious in her arms. "May! May wake up May, Mayra!" Satria panicked to see his wife unconscious, in the condition of blood pouring on his legs.

Satria's heartache saw Amayra in a state of unconsciousness, he was afraid of his wife why. His body trembled holding onto the unconscious Amayra. When Satria was about to carry his wife, his hands were in pain and he was not strong enough to carry his wife.

"Give me, Sat!" Bram was ready to stand in front of Amayra and Satria.

Damnit damnit! I've tried to block it but I'm still losing fast, Alexis you're out of your mind!

Bram cursed his ex-wife in his heart. She was sad to see Amayra unconscious.

"Sister?" Satria wondered why Bram was there.

Without getting approval from her sister, Bram holds Amayra and takes her to an ambulance. Satria also went with him, the man's hand was badly injured as it hit the front of the car and was hit by a guardrail. Even from that hand was still pouring fresh blood.

In an ambulance on the way to the hospital, a nurse treats the wound in Satria's hand. He saw Amayra who was still unconscious with an oxygen mask attached around her mouth and nose.

Satria and Bram both looked at the pregnant woman anxiously. The nurse and the medics were there to check on Amayra. "How's the sister doing?" bram asked Amayra.

"The patient is bleeding, the baby in the stomach is also not showing much movement because the mother is still unconscious" explained the nurse to Bram.

Bram and Satria are flabbergasted to hear the nurse's explanation of Amayra's condition. Satria followed Amayra by feeling her pulse. Amayra's state was unstable, even her face was extremely pale. He has lost a lot of blood.

"Please save him!" Bram yelled at the nurse and the ambulance service there. Bram held onto his head which was hurting. His wounds have not even been treated.

Satria sees her older sister who is very worried about Amayra.

Soon they arrived at the hospital. Medics quickly took Amayra to the ER room. Bram and Satria were waiting outside the room. They seemed shocked by what had just happened. Both of them waited limply, their hands full of blood. Blood of the pregnant woman.

If I loved faster, maybe he and my son wouldn't have been hurt! It's all because of you Bram!

The two men were busy blaming themselves. The words if spoken in their hearts were full of regret. With trembling hands, Satria looks at her phone and intends to contact Aaron as well as his other family. He sees some missed calls from Bram and a short message from his sister to keep him by Amayra's side.

"Sister! What exactly is going on? Why would you send a message like this? Did you know that this was going to happen?" satria asked her sister, asking for a message sent by Bram.

The man did not answer he did not dare to answer that this was all because of the mad woman of his ex-wife. Seeing that Bram was silent, Satria thought that all was true. "Thank you, brother, because you stopped that car,"

"Why are you thanking me?" tanya Bram was not happy.

"I have to thank someone who hurt my wife and saved her" Satria said.

"Satria! I didn't hurt him!" Shouted Bram dismissing Satria's accusation to him. "Where might I harm Amayra and my son!" added again.

Satria cries, she is afraid something bad happened to Amayra and the baby. He contacts Cakra as well as Aaron about Amayra getting into the hospital. Cakra and Aaron go together to the hospital, along with Nilam as well.

"Satria? How's Amayra doing?" ask Aaron to his son-in-law.

"The doctor is still examining him sir," Satria replied sadly.

"God my son, my grandson, how did this happen?" Aaron looked pale, he immediately fell limp. Bram catches Aaron's body, and Aaron quickly brushes off his hand. "I'm fine" Aaron ketus told Bram.

"Father calm down, sit down here first" Satria took her father-in-law and sat the middle-aged man in the chair.

"Bram's? Are you here too?" ask Cakra to his son.

"Yes pah" replied Bram.

Nilam approached his son, he was anxious to see Bram's injured forehead and hands. He asks if Bram was involved in the accident. Bram briefly answered yes.

Shortly after, the female doctor came over with her anxious face. The doctor was Diana, an obstetrician.

"Diana how's my wife?" satria asked her friend, ahead of everyone there.

Aaron, Cakra, Nilam and Bram looked at Diana with hope.

"Amayra is in critical condition and her bleeding is heavy. This puts the lives of both the mother and the baby at risk" Diana explained.

"Innaliki.." Aaron held his head, he was shocked by what he had just heard. Bram and Nilam also looked sad and anxious to hear it.

"Oh God.." Cakra breathed heavily.

"Then what should be done to save my wife and child?" ask Satria.

"Satria you must choose," Diana looked at her friend deeply. Everyone there was tense with Diana's gaze.

Diana tells him that she has to make the most difficult decision of her life. Diana's doctor asked him to choose, operated on his wife at the risk of their baby not surviving, or remove the baby from his wife's stomach at the risk of his wife not surviving.

In the presence of the angel of the lifethrower, Satria is asked to decide the life of Amayra or her baby. Who will Satria save?
