The Finger Ring
Chapter 1

Chapter 1

“Good Peters, lest you say that you were fooled by a little stranger by his absurd story of him losing that memory! Usually you are quickest to be suspicious of everything that is patterned at least that has the greatest sin, though,” Constan Peters said as he looked at his cousin who was sitting laughing giggling at the jeers and astonishment.

Dr. Manner Peters, who was very successful while practicing on Harley Street at the time. Now Dr. Manner only worked at his home and did research on Chemistry in Devon. He had a gloomy and hard-to-read face, which made him believe that he was actually older than he really was. He is also considered a person who always follows the heart to do something, rather than a person who is patient. It's been a surprise to Constan since Dr. Manner took the girl into his house.

“Constan,” said Manner suddenly looked riled up while separating the cigar from his mouth so that some of his ashes spread towards his knee pants, “Who is the doctor in this family? You or me?” ask again.

Constan observed the flaming tip of his cigar and said with a smile usually displayed by famous actors. What a damned smile he had.

Manner always had the notion that many women were becoming silly and t*lol because of the smile spread by his cousin, especially if the smile is scattered with magical power under the dim lights that decorate the city of London.

“I will look for symptoms of amnesia in the thick books we have in medical science,” Manner said smiling. The gloom on his face that was revealed was not so obvious anymore. A different age one year younger plus months compared to his cousin, Constan, it makes him quite tired of being older than Constan.

“Say, Constan,” pinta Manner who is now changing the look of his face a little amused with his cousin while rubbing a cigar to his forehead. “Why are you so prejudiced towards the girl, who clearly suffers from memory loss?”

Constan wasn't so easy to believe what Manner was saying, like considering the problem while leaning himself on the big table in front of his cousin who was on the table scattered papers containing Chemical symbols. There is also a paper with a phone number. What a sight not worth seeing with your eyes. Very messy. That is very inversely proportional to the nature of Manner who is good at controlling his emotions.

Constan observed the shoe buckle adorned with gemstones and swaroski stones so that the shoe looked elegant on a different table, precisely behind Manner's chair.

“Alright,” said Constan in a suddenly dry tone in his throat. “First of all he had the courage to say that he remembered one thing - his name. What he called Dygta. Oh my God, Dygta! Lastly, I heard that the name was in school, when we read Quo Vadis (a term in Christianity). Second, he came to the door of your house at midnight. Why would he enter your house, Manner? Unless he fully knew that a doctor was living there, so he could easily enter the house in the way he had been taught. Third, it comes with special slippers for the room, and it's slippers that have expensive prices with clothes that look expensive anyway. You know what I mean?” constan said suddenly the spotlight became sharp without a smile.

“I guess she was a little maid or waitress, who wanted to make a sensation and or a funny thing stir for herself. And you know, this jewel clasp belongs to the host. Limin said that the sandals he was wearing were oversized on his tiny feet,” Constan continued.

Manner frowned as Constan mentioned the name of his secretary.

“His formula is Limin prejudiced against the girl,” Manner said.

“Why is that?” ask Constan. “Limin met the girl too, whereas I never. I never knew about the girl until I came here this afternoon.”

“You know right!” sahut Manner's. “Limin is easily influenced by you, so he cannot think clearly when facing you.”

“Already. Don't talk about it. What about amnesia?” manner asked out of his chair. Although this month is August, but the weather out there makes the cold hit the skin.

“That girl didn't cheat, Constan. I've checked him out thoroughly and he's amnesiac. I didn't give him any medicine. And you have to remember, that girl really doesn't remember who she is, and why she came into my house and where she came from,” explained Manner with a faint smile that expanded from the tip of her lips.

Constan is a well-known actor, but at the moment he seems to disagree with Manner.

“It confused me a lot too. I admit it. But in reality he suddenly stood alone in the vast meadow and saw the light that highlighted this house. You yourself also know how Grandma opened the window curtains in the sitting room wide so that the girl went straight to my house. That light led him here,” continued Manner again.

Highlight the wide eyes that the girl had, then she held Manner in a tremble and Manner brought him into the house. The first to discover at the door was Elijah, who was the cook at Manner's house. When he came back from the church and immediately he told Manner that there was a girl at the door that covered his face with both hands and almost fainted.

The girl almost fainted, but she didn't. Manner saw her and found something when he saw the girl.

Manner is very upset with Constan who accuses the girl of being a fraud. Though he had clearly never met the girl, and even more annoying was that Limin had told his cousin the details, who had just come from London for a weekend getaway at Manner's house. Limin recounts this incident when Manner was not home.

“You believe in the expression of that woman?”

Constan's two eyebrows twitched in response to a question from his cousin. “Do you want to see Limin?” ask Constan later.

“Yes, I'm going to see Limin so I know what Limin really said about the girl. Either praise her or even ridicule the girl. It was so not good until he vilified the girl he just met,” Manner said while looking for the tobacco place he used to fill his cigar.

“Oh, come on. He just said the girl was unattractive. That's it.” Constan replied with his evil smile as he looked towards Manner.

“Are you serious? Anything else?” ask Manner sarcastically.

Constan looked at Manner in surprise. But all right, he'll tell Manner where he cares about the foreign girl.
