Chapter 13: He Tried to Poison Me

Arriving at the inn, Xixi with the two servants belonging to the commander walked into the room to rest for a while. The two maids left Xixi, when she had fallen asleep. The two servants were summoned by the commander Chen Zhen. The commander-in-chief has a sinister plan for Xixi. The two servants were ordered to deliver poisonous food. The two servants obeyed the orders of their master, even though they were unable to kill Xixi. Xixi is a good woman, who always values them as human beings.

That night the two servants wake Xixi up for a bath, while they prepare dinner for Xixi. Xixi had finished her bath and was waiting for them inside her room. Shortly after, the two servants came to bring some delicious food.. Both look very strange. Xixi realized the strangeness. He saw the two servants' hands trembling while carrying the food.

"Put the food here. Let's eat together." said Xixi with a gentle smile.

"Sorry lady, we can't accompany miss. Master called us. Is it okay to eat alone here?" ask one of the servants.

"It's okay. Just calm. Go." said one of the servants.

"Miss should finish the meal, so that the lady is fit again" said one of the waiters with an anxious face.

Xixi just smiled and nodded her head. The two servants left the room. Xixi checked the food and was right as she expected. One of those foods was poisoned. Xixi smelled the poisonous food and Xixi was surprised to find it smelled like poison given to prince Xiao San. Xixi was increasingly convinced that the commander had poisoned the prince.

Xixi ate all of her food to the point that it was gone except for the poisonous food. He kept the poisoned food and pretended to eat it. Soon the two servants went back to check if Xixi had eaten the food.

"Well, this food is delicious. Unknowingly I've spent it all." Xixi said as she held onto her overflowing stomach.

The two waiters smiled and tidied up all the dishes. They're out carrying all those plates. Xixi looked at those who looked very scared. After they left, Xixi took a medicine that showed symptoms like poison, so she could pretend to be poisoned. Xixi was waiting for the drug's reaction. He closed his eyes.

Shortly afterwards commander Chen Zhen and the two palace servants entered the room. They saw Xixi's body start to blacken. The commander checked Xixi's pulse and breathing, but it was no longer there. From Xixi's mouth came blackened blood. The commander smiled slightly, after making sure Xixi was dead.

"Tell the emperor that Xixi's court lady is dead" the commander said loudly.

"Put the body into the coffin. We'll take him to the palace. You can't have anyone talking to anyone. If you say everything, don't blame me for making you catch up with him in hell." the commander threatened both of them viciously.

The two maids were crying. They were very sorry for doing this evil thing. But they can't do anything. They were just commoners who did not have the freedom to do anything.

"Miss forgive us" said the two servants.

Xixi took a special medicine that put her to sleep like a dead person for a week. For at least the next few days, Xixi looked like she was dead. From a distance, Jiang Xi's best friend was always monitoring Xixi's situation. Xixi had already told Jiang Xi her plan. So carefully Jiang Xi watched him.

The news arrived at the palace. The Emperor was very surprised to receive the news. He was unable to pass on this news to prince Xiao San. The emperor was well-understood, this news would make the prince depressed and suffering.

"All of you here, let no one deliver this news to the prince's ears." the emperor's order.

All of the palace attendants and guards who were already aware of this news were forced to silence their mouths. No one dared to tell this truth.

The commander continued walking towards the palace. All the troops stopped in the middle of the forest. At that time the commander met a masked man. He gave a letter to the masked man. Their movements are very suspicious. Jiang Xi could only monitor and should not interfere. After that, commander Chen Zhen resumed his journey.

Jiang Xi secretly followed the masked man and beat him from behind until he fainted. He looked at the scroll of the letter and copied its contents. Jiang Xi was shocked to find out to whom the scroll letter was addressed. He immediately left the masked man and returned to watch the movement of the commander-in-chief.

In the next forest he meets a beautiful young woman. The commander gave a jade slip to the young lady. Jiang Xi who saw him was very suspicious. What purpose did the commander give a jade to the young lady. Jiang Xi tried to paint the woman from a distance, she couldn't possibly chase after the young woman. Once this task was completed, he would look for the young lady.

The journey is almost there. Night has arrived, the commander decided to spend the night in this forest. They set up tents and rested. The guard in the tent was not very strict, so Jiang Xi could check Xixi's state. He wanted to make sure that Xixi remained fine. Jiang Xi fell asleep on top of the tree, so that she could monitor it clearly. That night they all rested quietly.

Morning's approaching. The sound of birds waking them from their deep sleep. The commander inspected Xixi's body, after making sure everything was fine, the commander continued their journey. The journey was non-stop, until they almost reached the palace. The troops continued walking towards the palace, tirelessly and complaining. They followed the orders of commander Chen Zhen.

"Speed your way, we will soon reach the palace." shouted Commander Chen Zhen.

All the troops excitedly continued walking until they finally reached the palace gate. Eunuch Li and some of the palace guards were already at the palace gate to greet the commander-in-chief's army.

"Please commander. The emperor was waiting at his residence." said eunuch Li

"Emperor Xiao Ge ordered all of us to take care of the body of Xixi's palace lady-in-waiting" said eunuch Li calmly.
