The Crisis World XX
Chap. 15: First Mission

After that, our conversation began. A conversation that will define our cooperation in the future.

"First of all, maybe we should tell each other's abilities, right?" my spoken.

If we want to get to know each other maybe this is the quickest way I can think of in my head. Because if we know each other's strengths, we can cover each other's shortcomings. But before that something stuck in my mind.

"But before that, Herlin-san …."

"Herlin is enough."

"Then Herlin, why don't you like being called by your surname?"

My question will probably instantly change the course of this topic into something more serious. But from his expression and behavior, it seemed that he did not care so much about it.

"Normally in Japan calling a first name makes a person look more familiar, right?"

When I heard the answer, I discovered a new fact about it. If this girl is not from Japan. Yes, when viewed in plain sight, the appearance is very different from the Japanese. With her snow-white skin and blonde hair, she was too perfect for the Japanese. Wait, did I just subconsciously praise her beauty?

"Yep, you praise him" said Cecilia.

"Grand …!"

Due to unintentionally praising her and being justified by Cecilia, my neck suddenly became itchy. I also drank the water that was provided before.

"By the way, what kind of exception do you have?"

I then take this conversation in a direction that is more related to the purpose of this meeting. 'Exception' is also a new word that I've just learned lately.

"If you're alone? Which kind of exception do you have?" He asked back.

He didn't answer my question and asked back. I don't understand where he learned manners but let it be.

"I am an Elemental, more precisely an electrical element."

Sluurpp…

"Is that so?"

He received his answer with a flat expression while drinking half a glass of water that was given earlier as if he did not care. Then why are you asking, you fucking cunt!

"I have the ability of Mind Power."

Eh? He started taking this meeting seriously? Good though.

"Mi-Mind Power huh?"

From childhood I was very interested in the name telekinesis. Moving things without touching them is really cool to me. I thought it was all I could find on television, but after getting into this side of the world, it all turned out to be there.

"Oi!"

Suddenly Cecilia shouted inside my head as I was daydreaming about the past. Spontaneously I let out a shocked expression which Herlin later realized.

"What's wrong?" ask Herlin.

"Ti-It's okay."

That fucking woman. What does it mean to shout suddenly like that. I could be considered a fool by him later.

"Ask him about the invisible attack!"

An invisible attack? He used it when he tested me. Nice one, chatty lady! Turns out you're good too.

"Ango .. Herlin-san …."

"I told you Herlin was enough."

For some reason he insisted so much on being called with such a familiar title.

"Herlin, something's stuck in my head."

"What's that?"

"How can an Unseen attack a living being in an invisible state?"

Because according to Cecilia's explanation, the condition of The Unseen to be able to attack his enemy is The Unseen must be in a visible state. But in a different case, Herlin's The Unseen could strike in an invisible state.

"Because you saw it I can't hide it anymore."

"Yes, please tell me."

"That I can't explain right now. If I explain you later you won't understand, so wait for you to adapt to this world any longer and you'll find out for yourself. For now, let's just say mine is a rare thing" he explained.

So it's only a matter of time until he wants to tell me that. Then for now I will refrain from knowing that. And Cecilia seemed to have to wait for her answer even longer.

"Tch ... I thought I could get more information" complained Cecilia.

Sluurpp…

Herlin drained her half-living water quickly and then looked at me seriously.

"I think there's been enough introductions. Because in the future you will pair with me, then I will train you from now on to become more reliable. And also, don't think that my training will be gentle."

Gleck…

I swallowed my cold spit. He said it in earnest. I guess the tough stuff will be waiting for me from now on, so training from him is the first thing I have to go through. I also smiled and took up the challenge.

"All right! Don't hesitate with me!"

Without us noticing, Yuuki-san who was watching us from behind smiled while hugging a tray. But suddenly he was summoned by Oita-san into his room.

"Herlin-chan, Iraya-kun! You were called by Oita-san," said Yuuki-san.

After being summoned, the two of us rushed towards Oita-san's room. I don't know the reason the two of us were called, but Oita-san was already waiting for the two of us in her room.

"What is Oita-san?" ask Herlin.

"I have a job for you both. It is located in Northern Kyoto, a small village called Shibata village."

"job? What kind of job?"

Come to think of it this is my first time doing a job. I didn't expect that my first job would have to deal with strange creatures.

Why was he so disappointed when he couldn't teach me? Is she the sadistic type girl who likes to torture people? I imagined Herlin holding the whip and preparing to snatch me when I made a mistake.

"Your fantasy is disgusting, you know?" Cecilia suddenly responded to my thoughts.

I shook my head to drive away the strange delusion that had been glimpsed in my mind.

"Take this as an exercise for both of you. And for Iraya, this organizational system is a service system. So the person asking for our services will get it, of course, all of it has a price" Oita-san explained.

I-i understand. So people use our services to deal with monster attacks, of course with a reasonable fee.

"Is there just this organization in Kyoto?"

"If in Kyoto it is only us, but if in other cities there are some that are quite famous and we also have a central organization that is in Tokyo," Oita-san explained.

"So what kind of monster are we going to fight?" ask Herlin.

"The Beast, Inuijin. Mutant dogs that are about the size of humans, I heard recently they lost their leader. So they attack the people around them to determine who is the strongest and who will be the leader of the new herd."

Hearing the explanation from Murasaki-san, I became reminded of the Beast that attacked my mother. It might not be the same type, but still I will avenge me here, taking out the Beast herd.

Unknowingly I made a strange move that Herlin realized. He then looked at me but refused to ask.

"Then, when the sun is a little high we will gather here again" said Herlin.

"Eh? Why not just now? Isn't the sooner the better?" my many.

If we take an example, we can see firefighters who immediately rushed away when the fire siren had sounded.

"I know, but there are some cases that try to play us off by making false reports. So it's better not to rush things" explained Murasaki-san.

I don't understand them and can only say yes because I can't do anything either. I'd better follow those who have been dealing with something like this for a longer time.

**

At about 2 pm I came back here again, I had time to return to the hospital to accompany my mother who was still lying in the hospital. However, there was no sign of Herlin having arrived.

"Jeez."

He made an appointment to come around at this hour, right? You girls, I really don't understand their way of mind.

"He's it! Just watch out if it doesn't come soon. I'll—"

"What will?"

When I said that, Herlin was behind me and seemed to have heard what I just said.

"Did you say something earlier?"

"Ti-No kok~ …."

"Hmm ... Then let's go quickly."

I survived. It seems he didn't hear what I said. On the way, we had very little conversation. There was only one question Herlin asked during the trip.

"Hey Iraya …."

"What's wrong?"

"Do you have a relationship with the monster we're going to be dealing with right now?"

Why did he ask like that. Is it because he saw my expression? It seems like it is. He seems to care a lot about things like that.

"Why indeed?"

"No, I'm just asking."

"Mm .. probably because this opponent is related to someone I know."

"so."

We continued to walk down the sidewalk of the quiet and already slightly damaged road. Then we turned down the path into the forest. The path made of earth and right and left is a lush forest of trees.

We walked down the endless road and when we reached the end of the road, we saw a village that looked quiet and silent.

The silence of this village is unnatural, like a village that has been in residence for quite a long time. We tried to get to a house that was closest to the exit.

Kriyet…

The door is unlocked. We went straight inside and when we went inside we saw two adult men and women lying on the floor covered in blood. I walked up to him and tried to check if they were alive or not.

"Oi! You okay?!"

As I approached her, the man opened his eyes and spoke in a very slow tone. "Lemari ... take her ... go ...," he said. After that, the man breathed his last breath.

I went straight to the closet that man meant. When I opened it, I saw a little girl curled up sitting scared in the closet.

When I opened the closet, he showed a terrified expression and trembled and then shouted.

"At-behindyou!"

I looked straight at the moment an Inuijin tried to pounce on me. But the Inuijin was suddenly instantly cut into two while in the air.

Craash…

"What else is alive?" ask Herlin.

The little boy then nodded. The little girl's arm can mean two things, that she doesn't know anything or everything has been killed and she's the only one left alive.

"Then wait here for a moment" said Herlin.

"We'll be right back. Stay here and don't get caught by that monster?"

After he nodded and felt quite calm, I then stood up and left the boy for a while. We both went deeper into the village and my first mission was about to begin.
