The Another World Grimoire

The Another World Grimoire
Chapter 2.10: The Way of the Battle

The village border gate.

That simple archway was now filled with fiery arrows stuck in between the bricks. Decitan swords adorned around the archway. Several knights of Baron Oliver hid in the bushes from a distance to shoot from behind the knights of Verdum.

I was still above the village gate. I deliberately disguised myself so as not to be seen with Billionarie Paradixum. Although it was high-level magic, it could be used to disguise itself in the middle of the night. In short with this, the enemy will not see me. It's not my body that sees. The magic affects the target's vision.

This battle had only been going for about forty minutes. Unexpectedly, we managed to surround them. Even though we are only a few, at least from the total estimated number of enemies five hundred personnel, we managed to surround him with the strength of thirty members of the village defense division and twenty members of the intruder division that was shared by Baron Oliver. Baron Oliver himself and his knights had subverted about a hundred enemies, while the bandits led by Frostle managed to disrupt the enemy ranks and formations.

“Strong continue!” Baron Oliver exclaimed as he swung his sword against the enemy knights.

Knight Baron Oliver is getting excited. They brought down everything in front of him. Although they were few, they were highly trained and agile. A single knight could finish off five more enemies easily.

“Death to you!” One of the knights groaned.

“Feel this!” The enemy knight attempted to retaliate for the attack.

Whatever the enemy did was still in vain when facing twenty knights in the command of Baron Oliver. While the number of enemies that could still fight was reduced, Baron Oliver's knights grew fiercer. They were able to fight against a hundred knights, this time they were speeding up against two hundred people in the middle of their formation.

The battle is getting more intense. Baron Oliver managed to defeat one of their middle formation leaders, Sir Guzman Thunders, who was one of the first to be assigned by Duke Verdum to look for me by spreading my picture while in Dynoseus.

Our position is still lucky. The enemy troops slowly retreated from their initial position. About five hundred more if I count them quickly. They were seen running towards the castle site we met when we were about to enter Chloe. Baron Oliver and his army are on the hunt for the enemy. It seems to have escaped my distance. I was still in the village gate. Looks like the defeated knights are lying on the grass.

They're not actually dead—they're alive. I got them trapped inside the Billionarie Paradixum skill. In other words, they are now asleep, and will wake up in my command. On that day, I asked the villagers to bandage the wounds and some of them used the Healing Power.

“Aren't we just going to add more trouble? They're dangerous!” A father disputed.

“Really! They're enemies! How can we help them?” Another father added.

“Maybe they'll kill us all.” This time, the one who was rejected was a mother.

I'm staying calm. No need to get carried away by emotions.

“I'm sure there will be concerns from the citizens. But here is our plan. Just chill. They can't all move in my magic. They're asleep. As they are unaware, it is fine for us to bandage their wounds.” I'm explaining.

“But, I feel that they cannot be trusted.” The first man to speak was drowned.

“Maybe difficult, but please believe me, sir. After all, they would not be able to move agilely with those injuries even if I did not release my magic. At least for a while.”

“True also.” Another father supported me. He is a knight. The two other knights behind followed him. “We'd better follow Mr. Hizashi's proposal. If something happens, we will take responsibility to protect the people. Oh, my God, I haven't introduced myself, Mr. Hizashi. I'm Rad. Rad Gerard. The First Squad of the Knights Baron Oliver.”

“It's nice to meet you, Mr. Gerards.” I replied politely.

“Then, what are you waiting for? Let's carry out.”

Mr. Gerards then ordered his knights to do as I said. That is what drives the initiative of the citizens. They bandaged the wounds of the enemy knights I was making asleep right now. Their wounds were slowly healing. Healers from among the residents were seen dressing the scars with white bandage cloth. They were all then left alone after being healed—of course it was not apart from my direction.

***

It seems, the situation is turning around now.

My entourage, which numbered five, four knights including Nos who were at the strategy meeting together with Baron Oliver and me, arrived at the scene of the battle now. We made it to the ground without any obstruction. At first, we saw the bodies of many of Duke Verdum's knights scattered along the road. But what is in front of us is not what we expected.

“How can it?” A knight from my entourage was in disbelief after seeing what happened.

Beyond a doubt. Many of Baron Oliver's knights have fallen.

Indeed, it seemed like there was still hope of them living. It was evident when me and the knights I brought checked them. They just seem to be lying weak. Despite this, they suffered quite severe injuries.

We found one of the knights of some of the knights who was still able to stand up and try to help our other comrades. His name is Huldrich. His condition now might be a bit ill-fated. First of all, his hand suffered a deep scratch. His right hand now certainly could not be used anymore to continue the battle. Second, his foot was stuck with an arrow. So hurt. I myself cannot turn away from that wounded leg now. Thirdly, it seemed like he had been exposed to a magic spell, so he felt a bit dizzy when we approached him.

“Huldrich! What happened?” Nos asked.

Huldrich did not answer. He whimpers in pain. “Not mind us. We can still take care of ourselves.” He answered Nos in a soft tone. “From that, you should prioritize Baron Oliver. He was not with many knights. Few are fighting with him now.”

“Really too! Baron Oliver's! Where's he?”

“The position of our troops began to be cornered after chasing them towards this site. They seem to have set a trap. They ambushed us, then attacked us with swords and shot at us with arrows. Most of us fall here. Baron Oliver and a few other knights, probably in their forties, seem to still be able to continue the fight.

“The path of the fight has finally changed. The Duke Verdum knight then retreated back from the scene of the battle. Baron Oliver is chasing him back. It's possible that he's trapped again with another trap.”

“Then, we have to catch up to him.” I trigger.

I then brought up a magic circle that displayed the location using a tracking device. Earlier, I had placed a very small magic tracker on Baron Oliver when I shook hands with him. In that magic-circle, it works like the GPS in my old world. I can still remember it and try to combine it with magic in this world.

The trackers in Baron Oliver are marked with greenish light spots. While my position is now marked with a yellowish light spot. When viewed, it was about ninety meters from where we were now heading north. The color is twinkling, it seems like something unusual happened—a fight.

“Mr Oliver is far there.” I pointed towards the small forest that was in front of us. “We should hurry up to catch up.”

“One great! How can you cast such magic?” Nos and the others were astonished.

“Nothing is secret. It's a magic I developed myself.”

“You are great. Alright. I'll come with you, Shu.” Nos always calls me by my family name.

“Fine, we don't need to bring a lot of people. Someone needs to help the knights here. Means, only Nos is coming with me, the rest better help them.”

The other knights included in my entourage then nodded and immediately helped bandage the wounds of the weak and fallen knights around the castle site.

While me and Nos then immediately ran towards the location where Baron Oliver was. I relied on the projection of the magic circle I made. We went through the forest in front of us. It seemed, we were able to speed through quickly, without hindrance, so that we could reach the location of Baron Oliver's battle right now.
