The Absolute Twin Magician

The Absolute Twin Magician
Hunters (part 3)

The fourth day after my training began, it was time to practice using long-range weapons. First, Kate will teach me how to use arrows and daggers. After that, Aoi will teach you how to use firearms, even though I actually only need a little habituation because I have long mastered the weapon.

Kate said that the main focus in the use of the bow is vision and observation of sharp conditions. Sharp vision is very necessary when using a bow. In addition, it also requires knowledge of the surrounding conditions when targeting the enemy. Wind direction and speed, target movement, and vital points are very influential in it. If you mistake the direction and speed of the wind direction, the arrow can deviate from its path and miss. If we can not read the movement of the target, arrows can also miss and be wasted. If we are unable to ascertain the vital point of the target, then it will not subvert the target. All of these things make bows very difficult to master.

Basically, the archer is the same as the sniper version of the ancient kingdom.

The way the bow is held can also affect the direction as well as the speed of the arrow. Incorrectly holding a bow can make the arrow miss, or even not reach the target. Estimating the distance between the archer and the target is also no less important. In essence, there are many things to consider to be an accomplished archer. And because it requires skill and physical habituation, I am unable to master it perfectly. If only I had been a sniper, I would have mastered this so easily.

As a long-range attacker, archers are particularly vulnerable to impromptu melee attacks. If any enemy ambushed the archer who was lurking in his direction, the archer would be in serious trouble. Therefore to cover up this shortcoming an archer must carry a dagger as an impromptu means of defense.

A dagger is not like a long, heavy sword. It was the perfect defensive weapon for an archer. However, using it is not as easy as using a sword. That was because the dagger had a much smaller range than the sword. Dagger users need reflexes and agility in moving. Because of that, Kate trained my body flexibility so that I could use this weapon more flexibly.

"It's pretty hard even for me...." I said as I sat down and sipped a bottle of water.

"Although you made it this far. That's more than enough for you." Said Kate.

"That's it...."

"Well, the rest you just need a habituation. It's also impossible for you to master it within a day. The core is already conveyed, so your training with me is also done." Said Kate.

"Eh, just like that?" Aoi who also accompanied me trained a little surprised.

"Yes, the rest I leave to you Aoi." Said Kate. "I'm tired of taking a break."

"Well, thanks for the hard work."

After saying that, Kate left us both on this field. Looks like to end today's training Aoi will take care of it.

"Yes..because you're an ex-soldier you should be more professional than me, right Zayn? Then there's nothing I need to teach." Aoi.

"Yes, but I need a little habituation." My speech. "It's been 16 years that I haven't touched that thing...."

"Haha, you're right. Firearms are not in this age. Nothing, until we introduce him to Silverstone."

I stood up and held Aoi's Handgun. Trying to target the target I used to shoot. Meanwhile, Aoi remained seated and looked at me.

"Zayn.I'm sorry if I was a little presumptuous...." Her speech. "...As a soldier, you must have been in a war, right?"

"Yes, I died in the war anyway." I said ."why suddenly ask that?"

"Actually..What does it feel like to kill a human being?"

The question sounded so deep in the dark. I fell silent and looked at Aoi. His eyes looked dark, and empty.

"Aoi...have you ever killed a human before?" Means back.

"Yes, like that...." The answer. "...it wasn't murder, it was just self-defense.it was a robbery and the man pointed his handgun at a woman and threatened to kill her. But he made a mistake and dropped his weapon. There seemed to be something that made him doubtful and afraid to do that, and he was always trembling. As if he had to do it. I, who was 10 at the time, grabbed the handgun and pointed it back at the person. But who would have thought I pulled the trigger accidentally and shot it right in the head."

I keep listening to Aoi's story. He told a long story in a flat tone. So flat I found out that his voice was filled with regret and fear.

"I was indeed free from that mistake and was considered a victim of robbery by the police. As a 10-year-old, it was a terrible experience. But our parents didn't think about it, and instead thought that I had the potential to use a firearm." Further.

In my heart, I wonder what kind of old man would dare to do that to his baby? It's really hard to believe.

"I was trained to be the successor of the Mikoto family along with big brother. I'm trained to master firearms. Trained to be able to pull the trigger to shoot the target. It's all so I can get used to this, but still, I can't forget the face and voice of the man I killed that first time. His face and voice always haunted me. It was as if I had been cursed by him...."

"So why are you asking me?"

"I want to know if other people will feel the same way if they are in that condition...." The answer. "As an ex-soldier who's been to war, you know what it's like?"

I let out a breath.

"If you ask me what it's like, my answer is very bad. Killing a human being doesn't feel good at all. Even though I hate them, I never intend to end their lives...." My answer. "Well, the point of killing someone else won't make you feel better, as much as you do. And if you feel that you've made a terrible mistake when you killed that man, you're not wrong. It's a human instinct to fear the mistakes they've experienced...."

Aoi was still listening.

"Despite that, you should also look at the other side of what you're doing. You did kill one man, but there could be someone else you saved because of what you did. For example, the woman who was held by the robber. In his heart, he must be grateful and grateful to you. Even though you don't think that...."

"So you mean.I sacrificed one man and saved one man?" Ask Aoi.

"If you say sacrificing is not wrong, but it's not a proper depiction." My speech

"Then?"

"You did what you had to do, and saved one life." My speech. "I think it's better than before."

"Do what I have to do?"

"If you don't shoot him, you'll be killed. If you don't get the gun, that woman might get killed. If you run with that gun, you can get killed too. Shooting him is the best option. And you did well." I said '"that's what I mean by what you have to do."

Aoi fell silent. I don't know if he accepted my opinion or not, but I've already said what I want to say.

"Thank you Zayn.I understand now." Aoi. "To protect the lives of others, I must dare to take action. If I don't do it, I won't be able to protect anyone else's life."

I was surprised to hear he could conclude it that way.

"Well, more or less like that." My speech.
