We finally entered the city safely without anyone knowing. It's all thanks to Hughess' incredible Alchemy magic.
After deciding what to do, Hughess took us back to the mainland. We emerged from the underground in the sidelines of a city alley after going through a long tunnel that Hughess had made. It seemed, Hughess could find a deserted place even from the ground. Truly an Alchemy and a talented magician. Thanks to that we do not have to worry about being seen by others.
"We'll split up from here. We'll regroup downtown two hours later" Hughess said.
"All right."
In accordance with what we talked about earlier, we will all move separately, with a small group of two. Kayn and Liana will be in charge of finding a ride as well as information about the city we are going to. The rest will seek information on recent events in the kingdom.
But even so, it seems impossible if we do not get carried away with this city. How not, this is our first visit to the kingdom of Voracity. Although this is a mission, it still feels like a tourist visit. Well, at least Fiera is currently heavily guarded by Hughess. There's no way they're gonna play around.
The city we are in today is the city of Vestille, a small town that has become a stopover for immigrants who have just arrived in this kingdom. As a stopover city, in this city there are many inns that stand on the side of the road. Starting from the most classy, to the cheapest.
And like other cities, the population here is dominated by humans, although there are several other races such as the Demi-Humans who pass by. Most of them were adventurers from other kingdoms, and the rest were slaves. It seems, having a Demi-Human slave is common here. Unlike in the town of Bluelagoon, only a few of the nobles have Demi-Human slaves. In this city, even ordinary merchants could own slaves.
As per the knowledge in this world, there are many races that coexist after the declaration of peace between kingdoms. On this continent, it is known that there are 3 major races that inhabit various kingdoms. They are Humans, half-animal humans or commonly called Demi-Humans, and also vampires. Humans were scattered in every kingdom, while Demi-Human was more dominant in the Wisteria kingdom which was on the island of Wisteria, to be exact North of the Fitzgerald continent.
And for vampires, as they know they have their own empire dominated by monsters like Lizardman, Harpy, Lamia, and the like. The kingdom is often referred to as the kingdom of the Monster Archarke, which is led by a vampire king.
But especially for demons, they were not considered as the resident race of this continent. That was because they were originally not the original race of this continent. No one knows where they came from, but they certainly are a threat to the entire race. Not just on this continent alone, even the whole world considers them a threat.
It seems that most of the city's residents work as traders and craftsmen. As a kingdom with abundant forest resources, there will certainly be many handicrafts made of wood and such. Other than crafts, there were many fruits I had never seen before in the town of Bluelagoon, although I had seen the same in my old life.
And not only crafts and fruits, culinary in this city is really appetizing. Most of the food here consists of fruits. Many of the city's residents are vegetarian. It is only natural for the kingdom to rely on forests and agriculture.
Walking in this city with its diversity makes us almost forget our main purpose here. But yes at least, by looking around we can know what kind of kingdom this Voracity is. But this was not enough, because this small town was just a suburb of the Voracity kingdom. If we need more information, we still need to visit the capital of this kingdom, which is the city of Voracity.
Thanks to Elie's noble communication skills, we were able to get at least some information from every merchant we met. Although he was still timid to ask, at least Elie was already struggling.
From what we've heard, the demon race has not yet reached this city. That's because almost all the demons that come from the southeast coast and move to the city of Voracity which is approximately 800 kilometers from the coast. And because of their uncontrolled appearance, all villages in coastal areas were forced to flee to the nearest city. Which means that the coastal area has been turned into an uninhabited area. This attack has been going on for two months. And the kingdom is still trying its hardest to restrain the demons.
And from the information we got, it seems that the attacking race is a yellow demon race that excels in physical strength and defense. Plus, they always move in groups.
However, we have not received any clear information about their movements. About what they were after and how they got to this kingdom. Apparently, Kayn and Fiera did have to investigate the area.
"This exceeds my estimate. Who would have thought that this raid had been going on for two more months??" My speech.
"I feel sorry for the villagers who live around the beach ...." Elie.
"Well, at least the paladins have fought their hardest to protect their people. It seems that the Imperial Paladin is not just a knight full of nonsense" I murmured. "But even so, where exactly did these demons come from??"
"Is it possible through some kind of teleportation? Like Zero," guess Elie.
"That's possible, but if it's true there must be a place where they came from using teleportation. The problem is where exactly is that place?"
"Ugh, this is so complicated."
"Yes, it was like that from the beginning."
This demonic thing is not something that is easy to overcome. They not only appeared on the Fitzgerald continent, but reportedly even appeared on the neighboring continent of Britain. And most likely they also appeared on other continents. The biggest question is, what is their purpose? What do they want to do with causing chaos in the world? Also, who was behind their attack? Is there a demon lord who controls the four demon lords of color? The longer the unanswered questions the more.
for two hours, we continued to search for as much information as we could. Merchants, adventurers, and even common folk we asked one by one. Some of them did not seem to want to talk about the demon invasion, as if they did not want to remember the tragedy. And adventurers seem to avoid the southeast coast, considering that not many of them can face the demons. Only the Imperial Paladins dared to intervene. The problem is, when will they refuse to ask us for help? If it continues like this, they can be destroyed by the demons.
After the set time was up, Elie and I rushed to the town square. The area is very striking because there is a fountain pool that decorates it. There, it seems that Hughess and the others are waiting for us. And Kayn seems to be done with his business.
"Hows it? Did you get a ride?" I approached them.
"Yes, I managed to hire a ride from one of the merchants who was about to go to the city near the southeast coast. It seems that he brought food and some goods for the refugees" Kayn explained. "Because to get there he's going through the city of Voracity, I think it's a good opportunity."
"But in return we have to be his guard during the journey" said Liana.
"That's not a bad offer."
"Well, I thought so too" answered Kayn. "The merchant will leave in about half an hour. The trip to Voracity will take about two days of travel. That's why we need to prepare food."
"Always, what Fiera brought isn't enough, is it?" Ask Fiera.
"That's for 1 night only. We need more. Plus supplies for us to the southeast coast. At least the city needs to triple what it is now" Kayn said.
"If it can be prepared when in Voracity right?" Ask Elie.
"Fear it will not be possible, because the trader was a little rushed. He couldn't seem to stop by just to let us buy food" Kayn said.
"Hmmm, so yes. So we'll split up when we get to Voracity ...." Hughess Mumbled.
"The problem is our identity. What are we gonna do if the checks at Voracity are tight enough?" Whisper Kayn.
"It seems that we do need to falsify identities" Hughess said. "Because Kayn and Fiera aren't known to the public yet, it seems like getting into town isn't a problem as long as you don't do anything suspicious."
"But what about us?" Ask me.
"We will stop in the middle of the journey and enter as before" Hughess said.
"Well, it looks like it's safer" Elie said.
"yes, I agree" Liana said.
"In that case, we buy supplies first,"
"Yup, about that I leave it to Liana and Kayn" I said. "So you know I'm not very good at preparation?"
"Huh, alright, I'll work on it" said Kayn. "Come, Liana."
"Good."
After saying that, Kayn and Liana left with the money we had prepared to buy our supplies during the trip. The rest will await the time of our departure.
"Huh, I want to date ...." Mumbles.
"Eh, what did you say Zayn just now???" Ask Elie.
"It's nothing."
Well, anyway, this is not a good time for a date. I think I should hold back even longer.
