Deftly Dimas pulled me and Sister Shella behind the roots of the largest tree near here. Then he lowered his body and tried to remain silent.
Moments later, the horde of beasts actually flew past us. As the name implies, this Black Vampire Bat is completely black ranging from feathers, wings, eyes, to nails. So that in the dark tonight, it may only be seen shadows and sounds from the prowess of its wings.
To me who is a Haier-Elvian, the shape and appearance of the bat can be clearly seen. That beast is similar to the bat I know. What makes it look different is the size of a dog with a wingspan of approximately three meters. Also a pair of large fangs sticking out of his mouth to suck the blood of his prey. Maybe that's why people call them Black Vampire Bats.
This animal moves with its herd when hunting. The way they look is exactly like a bat on earth. Due to poor eyesight, they relied on the sound echoes emanating from his body. When it hits something, the sound echoes will bounce off and be captured by the sensor. Bats will know what things are in front of them, like that's how they see. The animal distinguishes prey from inanimate objects based on movement. So, as long as we don't move in the slightest, they won't be able to see us.
Now all we have to do is shut up until they all pass. I had to hold my breath so that my movements would be as slow as possible. Both of my hands clutched tightly onto the hands of Sister Shella and Dimas. The feeling of tension and fear really overwhelmed me. Ever since I hunted in the Elvian territory, this was the first time I met the Black Vampire Bats. They are wild animals that live freely at the foot of the northern mountain region. I don't know what brought them here.
Every second was going very slowly. I was almost out of breath, but I had to hold on until the herd passed.
Suddenly, Sister Shella took a slow snort, and then grabbed her body to me. I could see there were some bats that had looked over here for a while. Just as I was about to warn the woman not to make a move, I realized what made Sister Shella so scared. On top of the tree roots, there was a centipede as big as an adult's thigh. The insect that had a length of about five meters was creeping slowly towards Kak Shella, maybe he also intended to hide from the Black Vampire Bats herd. But that only makes Sister Shella disturbed.
The centipede repeatedly hit Kak Shella's deathly pale face. The woman's breath became faster.
"Sister Shella, hang on!"
"Close your eyes!"
Dimas and I whispered quietly so as not to attract the attention of the bat. Sister Shella closed her eyes anxiously. A fearful expression was clearly on his face. Naturally, anyone would definitely feel fear and disgust if there were such a large insect. Worse, the insect has a poisonous sting when viewed from its long whisk.
Instead of flinching or dodging, the big centipede actually climbed on Kak Shella's shoulders. The girl let out a slow scream as the insect crept over her body. His face was completely terrified, his sweat pouring out profusely. He forced his eyes shut tightly, but remained silent and made no sudden movements.
I don't know what Dimas had in mind, he suddenly stood up. Stabbed a large centipede with a sword and threw it far away. The insect squirmed after its body was pierced. A few bats that sensed the movement above the ground, instantly grabbed and preyed on the centipede. The fangs of bats tear apart the outer frames of the notoriously hard arthropods easily, like torn-up paper. A terrible shadow was immediately created when the herd of bats targeted the three of us.
I don't know why my body suddenly stiffened. I glanced at that horrible sight. A few bats looked at me, then landed in front of me. As if to make sure if I belong to their prey or not. A bat walked over and opened its long-fingered mouth. My heart is beating fast. Imagine if the two fangs stuck in my body and tore my flesh.
Dimas who had stood up and held a weapon did not hesitate to slash the bat. Suddenly, many bats turned their attention here. They darted fast with their mouths wide open.
"Run!!" yell Dimas.
Without wasting a second of time, I immediately left the place. As usual I was in front to guide my friends who did not have good eyesight at night. The Black Vampire Swarm immediately turned towards chasing us. They darted like the wind, but did not attack. The flock flew right over the head.
Suddenly two bats swooped sharply while opening their mouths. I immediately took out two arrows and shot down both of them. Every now and then I release arrows behind the ones that target Dimas. The man seemed troubled. Dispelling bats while protecting Kak Shella is not an easy job. He had to several times slap swords that almost tore their bodies apart. Five bats came from behind, I stopped my steps and let the two of them run first. While I take a standby position.
"Basic shit beast!" I makku with ruffles.
After that chasing Dimas and Sister Shella who were in front. Looks like they're having a hard time. There were about ten bats that surrounded from all directions. Trapped like a rabbit in a cage. I intended to prepare an arrow on the bow, but I held it.
Their numbers are too many. I'll run out of arrows when there hasn't been a day since I started this journey. When the confusion was half-dead, I realized something.
"Rubber too! The viglet!" seruku happy.
I don't know why I forgot my main weapon. I took out a small stick from inside the sock. An ivory-colored viglet with an elegant-looking black hue was in my hands now.
"Vitr Bris!" I said as I aimed the viglet at the swarm of bats that enveloped my two friends.
I could feel the power flowing out of my body through the viglets I was holding. It felt very clear, even I could feel the flow of Esze from within my circuit. A wisp of wind shot out from the end of the viglet. Paralysed the bats that surrounded Dimas and Kak Shella.
His power is huge. Not just bats, the trees around were also affected. The giant tree trunks around look crumbling and can appear to collapse if I hit once again with the attack earlier. The entire swarm of Black Vampire Bats was instantly attracted by the commotion created. Many of them turned around and headed here.
"Run fast!" my yelling.
I'm leading the way back in front. Around here is still an area of giant trees growing. So the herd of bats can still fly between the wide sidelines of trees.
After a long run, I found a cavity under the roots of a giant tree. Without further ado I immediately dragged Dimas and Sister Shella inside. This hole has enough space for the three of us.
The bat followed us. However due to its narrow entrance, it could only pass one or two bats simultaneously. Dimas and I easily knocked out every bat that tried to get in. We repeatedly thrust daggers and swords to drive them away. The bat does not give up easily. Every time a bat dies, there's always someone to replace it.
"Damn! There's no end to it like this!" rutukla. I took the viglet and pointed it at the entrance. "You two take cover behind me!"
After making sure Dimas and Sister Shella followed my lead, I released a large lump of wind. I could feel the wind roaring fiercely from the tip of the viglet. After chanting, I instantly unleashed the gathered strength of Esze. The attack destroyed its entrance while tearing apart the bats in front.
