Reborn As A Haier-Elvian: The Blood Hunter And The Warlock (Replace To New Account)
Chapter 16 "End of Escape"

It is like a domino effect where one event triggers a series of other events. Maybe at first only two room guards, but a few moments later appeared four other guards, then two more from the top floor, also with three people preparing to go up from the bottom floor.

All I have is a dagger at the waist. My bow and arrow were crushed when it fell onto the cargo hold. I also don't have a Viglet after it broke in the hunt a while ago. Despite having a weapon, I still felt unsure that this could lead me out of a chaotic situation. After passing through the corridor intersection, I switched to the right aisle. Because there were three more people chasing from the left aisle.

"Damn! They're endless!"

Fortunately, they couldn't use Esze to chase after me. Some time before, they attacked me. But misses and destroys an urn. Maybe the property in this place is so valuable, since then they no longer use Esze. I looked back, those soldiers numbered in the dozen. Each of them carried a spear and a shield.

I chose to go down the stairs. But it stopped after finding a line of Elvian soldiers preparing to wait for me below. They made a shield fence so I couldn't cross.

I'm panicking. Behind me were many people chasing, while in front were some who were in the way. They intend to flank me from two directions. But I didn't lose my mind. I picked up small jars and other furniture in the corridor. He threw it constantly at the head of the soldier. Their reflexes all raised the shield upwards for cover.

This is the moment I'm waiting for. With a flash I immediately ran down the stairs. While their shield was still pointing upwards, I made a high leap and stepped on the shield as a stepping stone. Plan succeeded. Now I'm right behind their backs. Without wasting any time, I immediately fled towards the hallway.

"Goodbye, Long Ears!" I cried out loud. I have no power to hold my laughter. Being too happy to escape the pursuit. After believing that there were no more people chasing, I ran away through an open window.

=============================

The afternoon has come. The sky turns into a backdrop for birds returning home. There were no clouds this afternoon. So the sun can clearly be seen hiding behind the mountains. The shadow of the trees has extended eastward, opposite the sun on the western horizon.

Right now I'm at ground level, no longer above those tall trees. It took me a whole day to get here. After the previous incident, I was more careful in taking every action. Coupled with the increasingly frequent patrols of Elvian warriors, my movements became even more limited. Maybe they've been disseminating information about intruders, as a result of soldiers hunting me more and more.

I put my back on the wall and looked out the window. Below there are many houses and shops. Precisely the settlements and shops in this region seem more elite and luxurious than the top of the tree. Every house has a building of brick walls, not of logs. The architecture looks like class. For example, there are verandahs, giant piles, a very large back garden, as well as a fountain pool as large as a ball field. That's why the guard here is so tight. Because this place has important buildings and houses of the great people of the Elvian people.

Lucky I found an unused warehouse. It looks like this is an old armory belonging to an Elvian warrior. In every corner of the room there are a lot of various kinds of weapons that have been rusted. The location of this warehouse close to the soldier barracks, corroborates this assumption.

This time I won't act rashly. Even though my stomach is hungry and half dead, I don't want to risk breaking into someone else's house anymore. It'll make me like an intruder, just like they said.

I waited until night came. Come to think of it, actually doing this is useless because Elvian can see in the dark. It was easy for them to find a small bird in the darkness of the night. However, rather than doing nothing this is still better.

While waiting, I laid myself down on a long bench in one corner of the room. Think about the city of Glafelden. I don't know what Dimas is doing now, I hope he's not too panicked and rash to catch up with me here. Then, Grussel might be angry to learn of the news of me being carried into the Elvian territory. He would regard me as careless and useless. Also with Almira, roughly what would she say when I managed to infiltrate the city of Elvian?

For a moment, I missed the grilled squid I used to buy in town. Salty and savory really delicious to the point of poultice with the taste.

"Ah .. shit! Thinking about food makes me even hungrier!" I said while stroking my stomach.

*CRACK!

Suddenly the door of the barn opened. My eyes met the two Elvians who entered while conversing. The three of us were silent and staring at each other. The mood was quiet for some time. After successfully digesting the situation, the two people immediately gasped.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? Then this smell ... Where did it come from?" One of the Elvians suddenly covered his nose. Probably couldn't stand the pungent smell of wet pickles still lingering on my body.

"Ah, lest he's the Smell Intruder the previous commander said!" yell at the other.

I reflexively get up and stand up. Walk back a few steps to keep your distance. Panic and shock of course. But what makes me upset is the nickname the Smell Intruder that was addressed to me. I stink, but I don't want it.

"Just kid! Who do you call stink, huh?" reply with a little challenge.

The two men were watching me closely. Their looks made me uncomfortable, even though I was still wearing clothes. It was as if their eyes were touching my body from head to toe.

"Just like the commander said."

"Rubber."

"He really is Haier-Elvian! This girl reminds me of the mixed race that last lived hundreds of years ago."

Wait up! Do they know who I really am?? It must have been Elvian Pigtail who caught me in the closet before. He was the first to know who I was. That guy must have spread it. If not him, who else?

It seems like the man is a top brass from the military, or it could be an influential person in this city. So that it can easily spread information. Lothawat! When this gets to the city of Glafelden, there will be many problems.

Putting that aside now, I was in a cornered state. Not only was my position already discovered, my real race was as well. There are still a lot of thoughts running through your head. For now, I'm prioritizing the way to escape from here. My eyes looked around quickly. A place where old weapons are scattered. Suddenly an idea came.

After I positioned the shield right in front of the body. I immediately charged forward. The two men still intended to prevent me from escaping by crossing both spears and putting on their bodies. In the last momentum before the collision, I threw myself forward. If I were to pit against pure strength, I would definitely lose to these two men. But due to the weight of the shield and the great force, I was able to break through it.

The two men bounced slightly back. Using that, I quickly escaped as fast as lightning. One of them instantly got up and chased, while the other ran in the opposite direction. Looks like the guy's gonna tell the other soldier. If it had been like this it might have been more difficult than the previous escape.

"Hey, stop right now!" shouted the soldier who was chasing.

"Are you stupid!?"

Where could I possibly want to? Indeed he thought every thief or intruder would stop every time it was yelled at like that? I'm not just a obedient pet dog.

During the escape, there was something strange about this warrior. I understand that when pursued by Elvian troops in a multi-storey room, they did not use Esze because they were worried about other items and furniture. Isn't every Elvian able to use Esze? Why is this guy not using it? Right now we are out in the open.

Less than a minute since leaving the barn, the Elvian warriors chasing me are getting more and more. About ten people emerged from the large street between the houses of the citizens. Suddenly I took the path to a small alley to impede their speed. This alley was only one meter wide, so Elvian troops had to pass through it one by one. I saw some people taking a detour.

It makes me panic. Today I have just arrived in this city, it is impossible for me to know the intricacies of the streets. I'm afraid of taking the wrong path or being stuck. Not to mention the possibility of increasing soldiers chasing, or the secret traps they prepared. Right now I just run wherever there is room to escape.

"He's there!"

"Capture him alive! Don't let it get away!"

So. I finally understood. If I recall the order of Elvian Pigtails that I met in the morning was to capture me alive. No one should attack. Ironic indeed, I should be grateful for the order of my own arrest.

The atmosphere grew even worse when there were thirty other people in front of the road. Like a cornered rat, I take the road or whatever it is that can pass. It even had to break through people's houses to escape into the street behind it. My crimes seem to be getting serious. I was struck by the road blockade from the rows of soldiers at the front crossing. Then I ran to the small street and went up to the roof of the people's house. Jump over rooftops and jump over fences like ninjas in action at night.

Having to run constantly for a few minutes makes me tired. No one is chasing. It seems like my trickery managed to fool them. But that doesn't make everything good. The fact that I'm still locked up in this town remains unchanged. The Elvian soldiers have already begun to block the streets. I didn't expect the situation to be this severe.

"Actually the sin of the intruder is as big as what, anyway? Why do they have to be so serious?" I said in my heart.

Right now I'm leaning against the fence of a house in a narrow alley. Letting go of fatigue for a moment to calm the heartbeat as much as possible. My hands were dripping with sweat on my forehead and neck. My eyes drifted to the left. Quite quiet and quiet. The Elvian soldiers might be looking elsewhere.

Then the next thing happened so fast. While resting, a group of people dressed in all black came from giant trees. They used a rope to get down tight. My eyes cannot keep up with his speed. Know-how, they have arrived on the roofs of houses around, or on the fence.

The group of seven men simultaneously brandished a sword at me. The sword was slightly different from the Elvian warriors in general. This weapon is thinner and lighter. Suitable for critical attacks or killing targets in one blink of an eye.

"Guil up, intruder! We'll treat you well if you want to throw away your weapon!" said one of them.

"Treating me well? Then can you let me get out of here?" I said half-jokingly, while alerting my position with a dagger. But they were flirting at all. I didn't react to any of my jokes.

Fear spreads in the body. The aura of this group looked very different from that of ordinary warriors. Their expressions were extremely fierce, their eyes also looked sharp. They are like special forces from the military.

"I gave you three seconds to give up. The commander told us to take you in one piece and not get hurt. But I'm not one to obey orders, what else when faced with a troublesome opponent."

"What would you do to me if I gave up?"

"You don't need to know" he answered briefly.

After being charged with infiltration and putting the city in a ruckus, I'm not sure they'll keep their word. It's a bad invitation. I want to reject it. But how do we get out of here? Maybe I can trick ordinary soldiers, but it doesn't seem to apply to this group. They will definitely slash at me when there is a bit of suspicious movement.

The swords look very sharp. It is like trying to intimidate every victim.

"One!" He started counting. I panicked and scared to death. He silently looked like a stone. Then he quickly continued, "two!!"

The atmosphere worsened when dozens of Elvian warriors came and directly surrounded from the two directions of the alley. I clicked my tongue. This small road was already filled with soldiers, while the roof was guarded by special forces. There is no escape. The situation got more and more on the edge when he said, "ti—."

*TRANG!

The sound of metal clinking was created when my dagger fell onto the rocky path. Before the man finished his count, I deliberately threw away the weapon. I surrendered. Then sat down on the street and resigned as the soldiers walked closer. Some people helped me back up and tied my hands together.

"Turn this woman in jail! Then interrogate him! Get him talking about his purpose here!"
