Reborn As A Haier-Elvian: The Blood Hunter And The Warlock (Replace To New Account)
Chapter 26 "Penetrating the Elvian Forest"

Tonight I don't know why it's so quiet. Maybe because of the heavy rain that fell since the afternoon, people became lazy to leave the house. There were no paved roads in the city yet, so all the streets turned into mud and muddy. Only in certain places such as the city center that the road is already rocky. So do not expect the remote suburbs where the headquarters of the Dark Night get such privileges.

There are some people out there, but they can be counted on the fingers. There's nothing more to do here but sleep and go through the day with a good dream. Except for criminals like robbers and hunters who do work when night comes.

Dimas and I were one of the few criminals. We did go out the city gate to the forest, but not to hunt. Rather to escape as soon as possible from Glafelden.

There's an elite cavalry chasing me here. I don't know what they want, which is definitely not a good intention. If someone from the capital wanted to meet me in a good way, they should have come by horse carriage and greeted me kindly, instead of sending one trained troop to me.

According to the letter sent by Indra, they had left since four days ago. The distance between Glafelden and Lurich is about 1,200 KM, it takes more than a week to reach it. Which means in a few days they'll be in town. That's why I have to leave right now to create some distance between us. Grussel was worried that an agreement between the two countries would not make one elite force stop chasing me.

Who knew they would enter and infiltrate secretly into Elvian territory to capture me?

Brother Erik who was in the army did not tell us about their full strength. Either because he did not have time or he was forbidden to divulge military secrets to anyone. I was completely blind to my enemies.

Our destination was the City of Arnest west of the Northern Latitude Mountains, where the first spirit crystal was located. Whether or not what I'm doing is true, we obviously have no other choice.

"People, come!" exclaimed Dimas who broke my reverie.

To go to the Elvian region, we had to cross the wide and deep Kelan River. We had to walk north for about half an hour to find a section of the river shallow enough to pass through. This is where usually groups of Dark Night hunters start to act.

Dimas pulled a small raft hidden near the roots of a giant tree. With this thing, my comrades and I crossed the river and infiltrated the Elvian territory.

Dimas had climbed first onto the raft by the river, extending his hand to help me ride. I'm unmoving. A moment of lamenting the man hesitantly. Feeling disbelief when welcoming his helping hand meant embarking on a perilous journey of spirit crystals. I exhaled a long breath. This decision I had made before and it was impossible to change, so my hand unconsciously received Dimas's hand.

When we were both on the raft and ready to cross, suddenly my sense of hearing caught the sound of broken leaves being stepped on. Dimas asked me what happened, but I didn't touch him. My gaze pointed sharply at the source of the sound.

Soon, the sound of running footsteps could be heard along with a girl emerging from behind the trees. He came to the river with a breath. It was a large leather bag on his back that made him like that. His hand held a small lantern to illuminate his path.

"K-Sister Shella!?" seruku and Dimas are almost at the same time.

"A-I .. decided to come with you guys."

With a quivering and stammering voice, Sister Shella affirmed an extremely unbelievable statement. Both me and Dimas were stunned to hear it.

"Wait first! What the hell are you saying? This trip is not a school trip. It's full of danger, you know?" reject Dimas, trying to convince the girl.

"Of course I know. But I also want to do something. I don't want to rest at home while you're fighting danger. I know a variety of herbs, so I can take care of you if you get hurt. After all, I'm a Taekwondo member, I can take care of myself."

"That's not the case, brother!" sergeant Dimas in a soft voice. "I'm not sure everything will go well. If anything happens to you, I will feel guilty. So it's better for Sister Shella to stay in this town."

"Why can't I come while Anggi can? Is it because I'm not a race of choice? Is it because I am too weak compared to you? Is that what you think, Dimas?"

They looked at each other for a while. A strong gaze and ambition radiated from Kak Shella's eyes, as well as the look of worry Dimas had. Although they appear to be looking at each other, but in fact the two are fighting each other. I can't let those two keep going like this.

"All right, you can come, Sister Shella! Looks like we really need your help!"

The two of them simultaneously threw a glance at me. One is full of happiness, while the other is full of disbelief. Sister Shella directly climbed onto the raft and hugged me, making a series of several of these wooden trunks sway over the surface of the river.

"Thank you, Anggi! You always understand how other people feel!" exclaim that girl.

"Geez! It's up to you!" Dimas patted his forehead and sighed. It seems that the man lost his voice in this debate.

It took a while until Dimas accepted this completely. I made this decision not without reason. Other than needing a nurse who understands a lot about herbs, I also don't want to waste someone who wants to fight. It was like looking at myself when I was determined to find a way to get back home.

After a few minutes, the raft arrived on the opposite side. The river in this place besides not being so deep, the current was quite calm. So we just need to paddle casually without fear of getting carried away.

From this moment onwards, this forest was an Elvian territory where humans were forbidden to enter. Since this was an intrusion, I had Sister Shella turn off her little lantern so that our position would not be known. Rubiel's light above the sky appeared faint with a thin white mist on the sidelines of the trees. Very nice atmosphere, I thought.

I lead the way into the Elvian forest. My eyes can see well as day in the darkness of night. This is the privilege I am grateful for after becoming a Haier-Elvian. I chose a path that not many tree roots cross to be easily passed by my two friends. The atmosphere in this forest was so quiet, there was only the sound of a breeze that sometimes stroked me on my neck. The sound of insects was only heard a few times, after which it vanished.

The town of Arnest is west of the North Latitude Mountains, which means we have to climb the mountains to get there. For that, I intend to circle around Ruvia City to avoid the Elvian army. The closer the city was, the more soldiers patrolled. It doesn't matter if we have to travel a longer distance, because safety is a priority. We walked north and went towards the mountains from there.

After several hours of walking through the forest, we decided to take a short break beside the roots of a giant tree hundreds of meters high. The further inside, the trees growing in the forest were all huge and extremely tall. Just like the giant trees in Ruvia City. The difference is, this area is not inhabited or managed by Elvian.

The atmosphere in this place is also gripping. Because of the shady foliage, Rubiel's light cannot penetrate at all down here. To ordinary humans, this was an endless total darkness. Coupled with the sound of animal howls that were often heard, making anyone would feel extremely wary.

I allowed Sister Shella to light her little lantern after observing the surroundings with the Super Indra. My vision projection saw nothing dangerous. Other than the giant trees, all I could see within five hundred meters were birds perched on the branches of trees, a collection of insects behind the bushes, he said, or dry leaves that fall with strong winds.

"Somehow I feel this is a bad place" Dimas said. He sat down at the root of a giant tree.

"From the beginning, this forest was indeed a bad place," I timpalku as I held my breath, trying to activate my Super Indra back.

"I'm not sure this place is suitable for resting."

"We've been walking for hours and still can't find a safe, quiet place to rest. The atmosphere is always like this. No one knows what is in front of us, it could be worse than now. You're sure we're in the right direction, right?"

"Wait a minute!" Dimas put his short sword on the side, and took out something from inside his ugly quality leather bag. It was a map. The man opened the map wide and brought Kak Shella's small lantern closer. After a while, Dimas nodded. "We're in the right direction. After this we have to head west and walk about three hours to get to the foot of the mountains."

"We take a half-hour break, then continue the journey!"

Dimas and Sister Shella nodded in agreement. I took out a piece of dried bread from inside the bag to eat the three. The supplies I brought were limited, I couldn't waste them without any calculations at all. Although a little, it feels quite filling stomach. Right now we are eating to survive. If only there were deer or forest goats passing by, I would definitely make them additional provisions. Unfortunately, no game animals have crossed near us since.

In addition to the short bow and the place of the arrow on my back, I also carried a leather bag containing supplies of food and some gold pieces. Grussel gave it to me when we were apart. I didn't think someone as tight as him would give him enough money. That really helps. It looks like Grussel does have the generous and loving side Dimas once said.

Don't forget I've got Prince Keylan's viglet in my pocket. This thing will be my mainstay against the enemy. After training several times with Almira, this thing seemed to be able to manifest Esze from my structure several times over. At that time I was very surprised to see the effect of the wind explosion. Usually I can only thicken a few things, but with this viglet I can pull out a few trees easily. A very powerful force, yet very difficult to control. Last time I almost blew up the wind close to Almira was.

"Huh ...." I took a long breath.

I don't know why I remember Almira. I haven't had time to say goodbye to that woman before. He might get angry when he finds out I left without saying goodbye. Sometimes he can be a bitch. But he's one of the closest friends I have here. Going without saying goodbye really hurts. I regret not being able to say goodbye to her.

Hopefully ... destiny will bring us back together.

When I was leaning back to unwind at the roots of a giant tree, my sense of hearing suddenly heard a noise from a distance. Dimas and Sister Shella were surprised to see me suddenly on standby. They asked me, but I ignored them. I closed my eyes to activate Indra Super. The projection in my mind was trying to look far north, the direction the sound source was coming from.

I still haven't seen anything up to three hundred meters ahead. Then try even further until it reaches the limit of my ability which has a radius of about seven hundred meters. At that distance, nothing was seen. The noise was clear, like the flapping of a bird's wings. But the numbers are many and may reach hundreds. After some time waiting until the sound was clear, then I could see for sure. Large black figures flashed between the trees. They flew fast here like they matched the speed of the wind.

"It's terrible!!" seruku.

"What's wrong?" ask Dimas.

"A Horde of Black Vampire Bats is here!"
