Pursuing the Love of the Widower

Pursuing the Love of the Widower
Silu Night

Gendhis paid no attention to the dozens of missed calls that kept coming into his cell phone. He was busy packing things into two large suitcases. Gendhis decided to return to Yogyakarta as soon as possible.

“Mbak Gendhis to Yogya again? How do I keep?” Ceu Imas looked down at the doorway of the room of Gendhis.

“Which way anyway, Ceu?” chirp Gendhis without turning his attention to the pile of clothes that had been neatly arranged in the suitcase.

“Actually I am afraid of being alone,” said Ceu Imas as he walked closer. He began to help Gendhis pack the items he would take back to Yogyakarta.

“And there is Pak RT and next door neighbors?” cetus Gendhis.

“Ih, ogah. Mr. RT stinks jengkol, the next door neighbor is old. If there is anything, I am difficult,” said Ceu Imas a little sewot. But the funny words made Gendhis laugh softly. It is good to comfort a heart of sorrow, so thought Gendhis.

“Ya, already. I sleep first, Ma'am. Ma'am Gendhis what's breakfast for tomorrow morning?” tawar Ceu Imas's.

“Anything can, Ceu. Origin of edible food,” replied Gendhis cuek.

“Yes, that is, Ma'am. Do you want me to take the flowers? I was like a horror artist, eating flowers,” cerocos Ceu Imas as it passed, leaving Gendhis who returned alone in the room.

In that silence, he remembered his meeting earlier that evening with Royani. The middle-aged woman looked so shocked to hear Gendhis decision. But after Gendhis explained it slowly and carefully, the mother of Manggala was finally able to accept, although very forced.

“At least wait until Mahendra or Manggala comes, Nak Gendhis,” pinta Royani at that time.

“Sorry, Aunt. I'm not ready to meet Angga. I fear that my heart will waver,” Gendhis cannot resist the cries before Royani. He was stunned in front of the simple woman who had always been warm and affectionate towards him. Royani had not known Gendhis for a long time. However, the attitude of the woman was always sincere to him.

“May Aunt hug Gendhis for the last time?” pinta Royani be careful.

“Tante ...” Without a second thought, Gendhis immediately rushed over and hugged the woman tightly. He spilled all his sorrow and heartache there. For some reason, it felt like romance became an impossible thing to happen to a Gendhis.

After crying until his eyes swell, Gendhis bade home. Luckily, Manggala had not been seen entering the house. Maybe he's taking Sinta home. Gendhis did not want to imagine it because it was too painful.

“Mbak,” call Ceu Imas disperse the reverie of Gendhis.

“Ya?” Genphis looked at me immediately. Don't forget he wiped his tears.

“There is a handsome mas below. He wants to meet Mbak Gendhis said,” said Ceu Imas.

“Tell me when I'm asleep, Ceu,” Gendhis says immediately.

“OK,” Ceu Imas raised his two thumbs, then turned around. There were footsteps of the slightly mushy woman down the stairs. Shortly thereafter, Ceu Imas returned to Gendhis's room. “He said, handsome mas want to wait for Mbak Gendhis to wake up,” he said while putting on a beaming face.

“Ya, already. Tell me to wait until tomorrow morning,” said Gendhis ketus.

“Oh, so handsome mas can nginep here? If so I report Mr RT first, yes!” exclaim Ceu Imas excitedly.

“Eh, wait, wait!” Gendhis hastily prevents Ceu Imas before the woman indulges in his crazy ideas. “I'm just kidding, Ceu.”

“So, how is this?” Ceu Imas was anxiously waiting for Gendhis answer. “Mas handsome told to sleep in the mother's room is also okay, Ma'am,” cetus.

“But it's still less than ten minutes, Ma'am,” Ceu Imas still insists.

“Yes, geez,” Gendhis ruffled his hair. He felt his life burden was growing with the absurd behavior of Ceu Imas.

“Ya, gone. Where's she. Let me meet you for a minute,” Gendhis is clicking slowly. With great force, he found Manggala waiting for him in the living room. The handsome man's face looked crumpled. Her hair is a little messy. His eyes are also red. Either because of crying or drunk.

“Dhis,” Manggala immediately stood up as the girl who managed to break his heart stepped closer.

“What are you doing here, Ngga?” ask Genthis.

“We must speak,” Manggala ventured to come forward and grab Gendhis hand. Gendhis himself did not try to resist. He let the handsome man clasped his hands tightly.

“What do you mean ask my mother to change the name of the bride in the printed invitation with the name Sinta?” asked Manggala with a tone of objection.

“Isn't that better, Ngga? You don't have to cancel marriage. You can still hold a contract and reception with Ms. Sinta. After all there is still time to take care of the letters of introduction to KUA,” explained Gendhis while forcing a smile.

Unlike the case with Manggala which immediately turned tense. His face was flushed red with the glare of his sharp eyes fixed on Gendhis. “I just want to marry you, Dhis,” Manggala dropped her pride again. He begged, then knelt before the lover.

“I don't want to, Ngga,” the tears of Gendhis dripped as he said so. “Come home, it's nine more now. Soon Mr. RT comes,” he told a lie.

“Give me a chance, Dhis!” manggala's tone rose as Gendhis climbed the stairs back to his room.

“Give Mbak Sinta a chance,” reply Gendhis when he arrives at the top rung. After that he turned around and did not look again. Gendhis entered the room and locked it tightly.

The twenty-seven-year-old girl then lay down on the bed and covered her face with a pillow. Gendhis began to shout loudly behind the pillow and cried out in utter disdain. I don't know how long he's been in that position. He did not realize that time had passed so quickly.

Gendhis got up, then got out of bed. Slowly he opened the room door and peered at the living room from upstairs. Manggala is no longer there. The lights had even been turned off, changing with the lights sitting in the corner of the room emitting a dim light.

He took a slow breath, then returned to the room. His prank exposed the curtains of the room window and looked out. Unexpectedly, Gendhis caught the figure of Manggala out there, standing in front of the fence with a directed look at him.

“Gosh,” de*sah Gendhis slowly. He closed the curtains and hid by the side of the window. Gendhis leaned the body against the wall. Slowly, his body sagged until Genphis sat curled up on the floor.

Gendhis closed his eyes while hugging his knees tightly. “Goodbye, Ngga. Goodbye,” the whisper of the rogue. A million memories of his time together with Manggala that was not too long ago, revolved in the mind of Gendhis. He was unable to dispel the shadow of that handsome man inside his head.
