Chapter 34: About Marvolo And Back Home

The papa call he heard from Dareen made some of his heart tingle. Between amusement and joy.

There is a secret that Marvolo has kept for a long time. And this secret is only known by some people including the mother who is gone. Marvolo never liked women. Yeah, it's the thing he's been trying to hide from society all along. He knew that it was no longer a taboo thing in his country, but as a figure with noble blood, it was inappropriate for him to like same-sex people.

Marvolo did not want the good name of the mother to be smeared just because it gave birth to a useless child like him.

So Marvolo never showed any interest in anyone and harbored his feelings for himself, deep in his heart. Marvolo had even sworn to himself that he would never marry, and therefore, too, shadow has a small family with the person he loves and has a baby only becomes a pseudo shadow at the lowest point of his heart.

Dareen is a new figure in Marvolo's life. But his presence was so strong that it made Marvolo's heart moved.

Marvolo wants to protect her, Marvolo wants to take care of her, Marvolo wants to see her smile happily and be able to build her little family without the slightest problem and sadness in her life. The fatherly instincts within him were oozing out just by looking at Dareen's smile. And from there, Marvolo unknowingly regards Dareen as his own daughter. The precious princess he had to protect and had to guard against anything that tried to damage him and destroy his smile.

Called by that name by Dareen made Marvolo's heart filled with warmth and love. It was as if he felt that his life was full.

Dareen.

But their happiness, both Marvolo and Dareen did not last long. Because in the third year since Dareen lived with Marvolo, on one night, Careen contacted Dareen and everything changed.

[Reen .. I'm pregnant.]

End Flashback

...***...

"Drink first, Alexa."

Marvolo poured the tea he always drank. The distinctive aroma that brings Dareen to nostalgia. His pair of manics flushed a little because Dareen almost cried for half an hour in Marvolo's arms, someone he already considered to be his own biological father. Dareen nodded and slowly sipped the tea Marvolo had given him.

The 30-year-old looked at Dareen from across the street and sighed softly before smiling. "Papa wants to hear from you, Lexa. Even if you already know, you want to hear it from yourself."

Dareen grasped the cup containing warm tea with both hands and slightly lowered her gaze, saying sadly. "I always remember, papa. I can't forget my regret for Kary."

"Every time I look at Aileen, I can always see Kary's shadow. When she smiles, when she laughs, even when she cries. Everything is exactly the same and makes my heart ache and happy simultaneously, papa. I was happy to see Aileen grow up well, but I was sick when I remembered every memory of Kary in Aileen."

Dareen told Marvolo who was still faithful to listen to Dareen's words. Marvolo smiled a faint smile. "Alexa. Listen to papa."

"Papa won't say much to you, but you know? Even Kary himself never blamed you. Because you have no fault. You just feel yourself guilty for not being able to prevent your parents from doing it to Kary. You're angry at yourself because you're weak." Marvolo continued, "But, Lexa. You've tried so well."

Dareen pursed her lips, lowered her gaze even deeper and nodded her head with a pair of beads that sparkled with tears.

"So, what made you decide to come to papa after all this time?" Marvolo asked. Presumably also quite insinuating to see how the use of his tone that slightly touched Dareen's heart.

Dareen took a breath and calmed herself down as she began to convey the intent of her arrival. "I want you to help me with something."

"About Aileen, right?"

Dareen nodded her head. "I heard from Chisa that they were already suspicious of Aileen's whereabouts. They still don't know about Aileen, but I'm sure that they're still trying to figure out the identity of their granddaughter. And I won't let them see Aileen."

"Pope understand, Lexa." Marvolo nodded, "Papa won't let Aileen meet them either. Because they had long since thrown Aileen away. So, there'll never be a name in my granddaughter's life."

Marvolo smiled and nodded his head. "Don't worry. Go home and meet Aileen. How many days you've been here, he's missed you."

"Papa ... would like to come with me to meet Aileen?"

Marvolo smirked small. "Your father is busy with a lot of work. Besides, can't you guess that Aileen should be tired of looking at my face?"

Dareen was a little speechless before laughing softly. "I'm a little miss."

"Aileen is such a sweet kid. He's gonna grow into someone extraordinary in the future, Reen."

"Miss Alexa."

Dareen looked at Arsein who greeted him professionally, but could not hide the hospitality and warmth he had. Dareen pursed her lips faintly and bowed to Arsein.

"Arsein, I'm sorry if I was rude yesterday." Dareen smiled, feeling guilty in her heart. Arsein nodded his head. "Don't worry, miss."

"How have you been all this time?"

Dareen said, "The same question that papa asked. Thanks for asking, Arsein. I'm very kind, and Aileen. I'm sure if papa sees it, you see Aileen too, right?"

"Little master has grown into a healthy and vibrant child. And it's nice to hear the lady live well. Young master is sometimes difficult to manage, especially difficult to calm down when you think about miss. But, he really loves you as much as the mistress used to look after the young master."

Dareen smiled and nodded back. "I knew. I love him too."

The two dissolve in a warm silence for some time before Arsein opens the car door for Dareen. "Young master has told me to take Miss to the airport. Since the young master was in a meeting, he could not take the delivery. He told you not to get angry. Just like before, he will come even if it's too late."

"He's still very childish, huh?" Dareen snorted amusedly, "You must really be troubled by it."

Arsein closed the door after Dareen said and then went to the other side and answered Dareen's words. "I'm really in trouble. But the salary that the young master offered made me very tempted and forgot all the hassles I had."

"Ask for a raise sometime too."

Dareen responded to Arsein's joke and the two laughed together. The luxury car drove from Marvolo's home building to the airport and took an hour before Dareen finally arrived and returned to Manhattan using a plane with a business class flight that had been provided by Marvolo.

Setting foot in the airport, Dareen looked around her and was moved by the familiar call she had in her ear and heart.

"Mama!"

There, Aileen's figure ran towards her. The bright smile of the six-year-old that Dareen yearned for, and the sweet voice that warmed her heart. Behind him, the figure of the black-spirited man stared at him. Since the incident at the zoo at that time, Dareen still has not met him again.

Azrells.
