Chapter 43. The Collapsed Firmness.

In the middle of a very late night, Bela was completely unable to fall asleep. Maybe he was like that because of Maik's presence in his apartment room. Bela, who did not want to talk to Maik at all, chose to preoccupy herself with her college assignment. While Maik who was sitting on the sofa in the room, just speechless with a gaze that could not be interpreted towards Bela, who did not care at all about him.

Seeing Bela who had not been focused on what she was doing, made Maik nervous. With an expressionless look on her face, Maik stood up from his seat and then made a sound.

"So, don't you want to take a nap?" Maik asked while looking at Bela with one hand on her waist.

"I'm busy doing my college work." Reply to Bela without looking at Maik.

"It has to be done now?" Ask Maik again.

"Yes, I have to do it now. Because I also don't know when I can come back." Bela replied without turning her face away from the laptop screen in front of her.

"Bela, you can send it via email. So you better rest for a while. Let's not drown on tomorrow's trip." Said Maik while staring at Bela attentively.

"You don't have to worry about me. I'm used to this. And I can't laze about my responsibilities either, as a student who's here because of the scholarship. I don't want all my struggles to go to waste." Reply Bela at length without looking at Maik.

"Bela, Enjel needs you badly. When you are sick, he will be very sad. So please think about it." Add Maik who makes Bela's heart back full.

"I know that. Without you even telling me I realized that I was the only one Enjel needed. But everything I do is solely for her sake. I must strive for a better future for my daughter. Because I'm not someone who is like you. Who will never be hard with everything you have." Bela said as she looked at Maik with teary eyes.

"Why do you say that? As a father, I will not let Enjel suffer. I'll give you everything Enjel needs for his future." Said Maik as he stepped closer to Bela.

"Don't say that! And don't even think about doing that! You can talk like that now. But once you have a new life with your wife and kids, everything will be gone." Said Bela who was back staring at the screen of her laptop.

"So, maybe I've done a lot wrong to you. But I will never forget my own flesh and blood." Said Maik who was in front of Bela.

"Whatever you want to say. But I'm sure, Enjel will never expect anything from you. Because you're just a father that Enjel never knew." Said Bela and immediately stood up from her seat.

"Where are you going?" Maik asked as he grabbed the arm of Bela who was about to step away.

"I want to rest for a while in Mita's room." Reply Bela with a position to his back to Maik.

"Why don't you just rest here? I promise I won't bother you." Said Maik without releasing Bela's arm.

"So, why have you changed so much? You used to be so comfortable sleeping when I was next to you." Maik asked with a look full of sadness.

"I never change. I'm the same woman you knew. Only circumstances change. And we can't take all that." Bela replied and immediately stepped away leaving Maik, who could only stare at him without making a sound.

The words that Bela had just said, made Maik unable to say a word. Although it was so painful to feel unthinkable, but Maik only fell silent to accept the harsh reality. Maik was well aware of his mistake, who had forgotten Bela and his daughter without any news.

Bela's freshness while in front of Maik, collapsed instantly after being in Mita's room. As best friends, Mita and Sari cannot fall asleep, because they think of the calamity that is happening to Bela. And when they saw Bela's state, the two of them who happened to be watching a movie using a laptop, immediately rushed to step closer to Bela who was crying in front of the door.

"Bela, why are you..? Why are you crying like this?" Ask Mita while grabbing Bela's hand. But Bela did not answer.

"So, let's sit down!" Sari continued while pulling Bela's hand towards Mita's bed.

"You why the bell, then,,? What makes you cry like this?" Sari asked after they had already sat on Mita's bed.

"I miss Enjel a lot. He is my hope and encouragement. Why would he have to endure all this? Why not just me?" Bela said with tears.

"Bel, you're patient, yes,,! All of this must have been his silver. You must be strong. Because Enjel needs you so much." Mita tried to strengthen Bela.

"Yes Bel. Enjel would be very sad to see you like this. You don't want to make Enjel sad, do you,,?" Connect Sari while rubbing Bela's back.

"Only in front of you do I cry. I won't be like this in front of my daughter. I don't want my tears to add to the pain she's feeling." Said Bela while wiping her tears with one hand.

Maik is the one who has ruined his future. And when his daughter is dying, he must accept the fact that the father of his daughter already has a life companion of his parents' choice.

"Bel, aren't you going to ask Maik to leave with you? After all, he is the father of your daughter. Perhaps with his arrival, Enjel could be strong to resist his current pain." Mita spoke with the intention of opening the mind of her best friend.

"We always support whatever your decision is. But you have to promise to always be strong in the face of all this. Don't let Enjel be sad with your tears." Mita.

"Yes Bel, you must try to always smile for the sake of Enjel. Don't forget to tell us about his situation. Because we won't calm down before we hear the good news from you." Sari continued attentively.

"Thank you for being there for me under all circumstances. I don't know how to deal with any of this without you accompanying me here." Bela spoke words while hugging Sari and Mita in turn.
