Chapter 41. The New Truth Bela Knows.

That night was very heavy for Maik, who was in a very difficult situation. After talking to Endru for almost an hour, Maik chose to go straight back to Bela's apartment. He drove out his car while thinking about the steps he had to take as a father.

"I need to talk to Bela. I can't stay silent under these circumstances. She is my daughter. And I deserve my daughter I." Maik speaks alone as he drives his car towards Bela's apartment.

The feeling that was once in Maik's heart for Bela, did not disappear even though it had been separated for a very long time. But back then, he had not thought about Bela at all. All that was in his heart and mind was the state of his daughter who was reported to be seriously ill.

At the front of the apartment building, Maik parked his car and stepped into Bela's room on the top floor. He had already thought of the words he had to put out in front of Bela to bring her together with his daughter Enjel. But after being in front of Bela's room, Maik was immediately surprised to see Bela was crying while banging her head against the wall of her room.

"Defenders... What are you doing..?" Shouted Mail while running towards Bela. But Bela did not care at all.

"Defenders... Have you gone mad.." Maik again shouted loudly while clutching both hands of Bela very tight.

"I'd better be dead... I can't afford to be in this situation. Hix,,,hiks,,hiks." Bela said as she cried with her head bowed in the chest of the field of Maik.

Hearing what Bela just said, Maik was struck by lightning so surprised. He thought nothing had happened to his daughter until Bela became like that. With teary eyes Maik again shouted while shaking Bela's body very loudly so panicked at Bela's words.

"What do you mean..? How's my daughter doing...? Answer Bela! Answer...!" Maik shouted with a look full of worry.

"Enjel had blood cancer. And the disease is very severe. I'm afraid anything will happen to him. He's my only hope. Hix,,,hiks,,hiks." Bela said as she looked at Maik with tears.

"What have you done until he gets sick like that? Answer me Bela! Answer...!" Shouted Maik while clawing his hair.

"I did everything every woman who was a mother did. I always try to give my best to my daughter who never knows who that jerk who's wasted her in this world. So don't you ever blame me. Because you never know how much it's like for me to be a single parent to my daughter." Bela spoke at length with a very sharp look towards Maik.

The words that Bela had just uttered instantly silenced Maik's mouth. His little heart felt so painful to imagine the suffering of Bela and her daughter all this time. But not long ago he again felt very remembering the selfishness of his parents as well as Bela's parents who were so willing to separate them without thinking about the fate of Enjel.

"It's all your parents' fault. Especially Dad. He's a very selfish man." Maik said with an angry expression.

"What is inappropriate? Your father separated me from my daughter. He made up stories to my parents that my son was no more. And you don't want to be with me anymore." Said Maik while staring at Bela who was sitting on the edge of his bed.

"You don't talk carelessly! There's no way my dad could do that." Bela said with a look of not accepting.

"If you don't believe me, listen to this tape. Your father's voice recording on the phone with my Papa. And I'm still keeping it for now." Maik spoke while opening a recording of his Papa Bela's conversation with his Papa a few years ago.

All the talk of Papa Bela was heard so clearly in the recording that was deliberately kept by Maik. And Bela who heard all that, immediately stared with a look full of disappointment that could not be described with words. The already frail Inner Bela was further shattered knowing a reality she had not known at all. With teary eyes, Bela looked at Maik while asking.

"Why have you never taken a step this long after knowing all that? Do you support my Papa's decision to part with me? You all have made me suffer." Bela's words that made Maik immediately bowed because he felt guilty for his mistake that never tried to find out the truth.

"I suffered so much to give birth to my son without a husband. Hix,,,hiks,,hiks." Bela spoke with a cry that was so sad because she remembered her suffering while pregnant and giving birth to Enjel without Maik beside her.

"I'm sorry. At that time I was so stupid to believe all your Papa's stories. But I promise I'll make up for all my mistakes for you as well as Enjel." Said Maik as he stepped towards Bela.

"Don't be sad anymore! Now we need to focus on Enjel's recovery." Said Maik after sitting next to Bela who was still crying.

"I must return to Indonesia as soon as possible. I have to see my daughter." Bela said while bowing her head withstanding the excruciating sadness.

"I'll take care of all your departures. But you have to promise to tell me. I'll catch up with you when all my business is done." Said Maik and Bela just nodded affirming what Maik said.

Bela felt very relieved because she would soon go home to see the state of Enjel. But in his deepest heart, he was a little disappointed with Maik who was more concerned with his affairs than the state of his own daughter.
