My Crazy Client's

My Crazy Client's
CHAPTER 2

Happy reading. . .

New York, United States.

A handsome man in an ash-and-grey suit was standing staring at the New York City view from his study window. The workroom was dominated by black and ash in accordance with his cold attitude.

George Goldsmith, he's the man. George is the CEO of Goldsmith Company, which is so popular with many women because of his handsome face and abundant wealth. Handsome and rich make the man look perfect. No wonder so many women are crazy about him. In fact, many of them are willing to do anything just to get close to George. But George Goldsmith was too difficult to approach. All the women who had come into contact with George were only limited to his passions. No one really had a serious relationship with her except one woman in the past.

"Good morning Mr. George." said Steve, his personal secretary when he walked into George's study. "Mrs Grace is here."

Steve Challen was George's secretary for three years. The man always helped George without complaining. He knew that the hardest job of his life was to serve a cold boss like George Goldsmith. Still feeling challenged, Steve ignored everything and then devoted himself so faithfully, doing all the work his boss ordered.

"Hi mom's. You here. It's nice to meet you. How are you?" George hugged Grace as he always did. For a long time, the mother and son had not met. Living in one city does not guarantee you can meet every day. Especially when George chose to live in his apartment rather than live in a luxurious mansion owned by the Goldsmith family. George's job as CEO demands that he work harder than anyone else. Time for family has vanished.

"I think you've forgotten me." whispered Grace.

A feeling of guilt struck George. It has been four months since he met his mother. Not even to call. George scolded. "Not once have I forgotten you mom. Just the end - the end of this my work is very much. Sorry I haven't been able to visit you. Sit down," pinta George.

"You always do. Can you reduce your busyness?" said the woman while sitting on the sofa.

George took a deep breath. "I'm not sure about that. All I know is I have a big responsibility to take care of. Thousands of people depend on me, mom. I have to work and keep our company profitable" George said at length. "I'm sure you didn't come here to discuss that. So, what's the matter exactly?" continue the man.

"All right, I'll just go straight. George, you know mom never asks for anything from you." said Grace gently.

While taking a sitting position in front of Grace, George observed the woman's face that looked so serious. George nodded in agreement to Grace's words just now.

"George, I want you to get married."

"Oh mom, please don't talk about that anymore. I don't want to argue." said George lazily.

"You don't have to argue George. You just have to obey mom's request."

"Come mom. I can fulfill your request, but not that one."

Marriage is not a new thing discussed by George and Grace. Since last year his mother always asked when the man was married. But until this moment George seemed to not heed his mother's words.

"Why can't you, George? Is it because you still haven't forgotten Nicole?"

"For God's sake, please don't interfere in my personal affairs." George groaned in frustration.

"This time it must be George. I'm sorry, but this time I have to interfere in your personal matters" Grace said.

Her mother's voice always influenced George. The tone of the voice contains many meanings such as attention, care and affection.

"Oh mom, I know you are because you love me. But again please, do not force something impossible. I'm a free, independent man and most importantly I don't like the complexity of life, especially when it comes to marriage, so..."

"Forget your idea of a free man." Grace quickly handed over with a vexed tone in her voice. "I don't care. You better be quick to bring a future wife because if you're not prepared for an arranged marriage."

George's eyes were wide. "What?" he said he couldn't believe it. "Come mom. What time is this?Marriage is old."

"Then immediately bring your future wife. Next month I'm having my birthday party. Bring your partner to my party."

"How could that have happened? You know exactly I don't have a lover. For God's sake, this request of yours drives me crazy."

"What about Valeri? I think she likes you." Grace said with a smile.

"Stop your desire to match me, mom. Don't waste your time." George gave me advice.

Grace waved her hand to keep George quiet. "Sorry baby, but this time I will force you. Whatever I'm gonna do to get you married."

There's a long pause.

George could not see his mother crying. After taking a deep breath in George said, "Then tell me the real reason why I should get married? I'm sure there must be something else that makes you force me like this."

"You've been thirty years."

"That's no excuse, mom."

"Be aware, that's just one reason. Another reason is this." Grace gave me a white envelope.

When George opened the envelope, Grace explained, "That was the result of my examination, George. There's a narrowing of the blood vessels in the carotid artery." Grace sighed softly. "A few weeks ago I had a tremendous headache and my body felt very weak. Doctor Alex Thompson advised me to do a further examination at the hospital."

While listening to Grace's explanation, George noticed her mother's condition. George realized that his mother looked pale and thinner than the last time they met.

"I'm sorry, mom. So, do you have to have surgery?"

"Yes, carotid artery surgery. But before I go to surgery, I want to see you get married. Or at least I know you already have a good boyfriend and are ready to take care of you."

George swallowed with difficulty. "Mom, getting married and operating are obviously two different things. And it's really unrelated."

"Listen well - well. For you it may be unrelated. But not for me. If anything bad happens to me I want someone to take care of you. You need a friend, George."

His mother's words shocked George. "Nothing's going to happen to you, mom, relax!"

"I hope so, but I just want to be on my guard in case the operation doesn't work, I want to..."

"Stop mom." sizzled George. "I'm sure everything will be fine. I'll find the best specialist for your surgery."

"You don't have to bother. You think I can't do that?"

George nodded in confirming. "Well, when was the operation done?"

"Next month after my birthday. That's why I want to see your future wife before I get surgery. Please George, fill this old woman's request." pinta Grace.

"All right," George said with a heavy heart.

Satisfied with George's reply, Grace let out her big smile.

"Thank you, baby." said Grace happily.

From the doorstep Steve cleared his throat and said, "Excuse me sir, it's time for you to leave."

"Oh, I think I should go too. Please take care of your health, son." Grace hugged George.

"You too. I'm going to Indonesia for a few days. After that I will meet you directly. I hope I'm no longer alone when I visit you" George said seriously.

Yes, George hopes his words can be realized with a miracle even though he himself doubted it.

"I hope the same" said Grace, closing the conversation.
