Sumaiyyyah Patience in Defending Faith (First Woman of the Martyr in Islam)
Patience is one of the commendable qualities that Islam has instilled into the hearts of the most eminent women of the shahabiyat, and it grows in their heart, so that one of them in the face of trials and calamities is like a mountain that is solidly immobile, and like a lion in its den, he is not afraid and does not hesitate.
They have experienced various birth and inner torments, experienced severe pain, suffocating poverty, lost loved ones. But it does not shake their faith, does not kill their spirit, does not make them moan, weak and restless.
Among the shahabiyat who received the award was Sumaiyah, a woman who first received martyrdom in Islam.

In the face of torture, the attitude of Sumaiyah bint Khabbat, the mother of Ammar bin Yasir radhiallahu ‘anhu, as a leading example and very precise evidence in this regard.
Abu Jahl, the commander of kezhaliman dressed the armor on Sumaiyah, then dried it under the scorching heat of the burning sun. Even so he was patient and hoped for reward, he did not expect anything but Allah and the Last Day. When this attitude of his broke the pride of Abu Jahl, and stirred up anger in his heart, Abu Jahl did what the rulers of the shalim again did evil when unable to do anything. Because of the rigidity of Sumaiyah radhiallahu ‘anha in his religion, Abu Jahl approached him, then stabbed him with a spear to death.
In the book ‘Usdhu al-Ghabah’, al-Hafizh Ibn Hajar said, “Abu Jahl stabbed sumaiyah with a spear in his hand on ************** until death. He was the first martyr in Islam, he was killed before the Hijrah, and he was among those who showed his Islam blatantly at the beginning of the coming of Islam.”
This is a lesson for every believer that the sinner wishes to be removed from his religion, should he imitate the stubbornness, firmness and patience of Sumaiyah. His worship is the word of Abu Athiyah,
“Patience in the truth, you will taste its sweetness
Patience for the sake of truth sometimes has to go through pain.”
It also shows that patience has no limits, until God brings His decisions and decrees.
