ثُمَّ الـصَّلاَةُ وَالسَّلاَمُ سَـرْمَدَا (3) عَلَى الـنَّـبِيِّ خَيْرِ مَنْ قَدْ وَحَّدَا


وَآلِهِ وَصَـحْبِهِ وَمَـنْ تَـبِـعْ (4) سَـبِيْلَ دِيْنِ الْحَقِّ غَيْرَ مُـبْـتَدِعْ


وَبَعْدُ فَاعْلَمْ بِوُجُوْبِ الْمَعْرِفَـهْ (5) مِنْ وَاجِـبٍ ِللهِ عِشْـرِيْنَ صِفَهْ

The word qira’at (siber) is a plural form of the word "siberghtue" which is derived from ⁇ 000 - ⁇ umbai - ⁇ ATX. - . Lafaz is a form of masdar which means reading (al-Qattan, 1973: 170).


Lafaz qara’a (square) also has the meaning of collecting and collecting, meaning collecting and collecting letters and words one with the other

1. According to al-Zarqani (1995:99), the qira'at is:

3. The same was also conveyed by imam Syihabuddin al-Qasthalani.


Qira'at is a science to know the agreement and differences of qira'at experts on how to pronounce lafaz-lafaz from the Qur'an, both concerning aspects of language, I’rab, hazf, isbat, fashl, washl, ibdal, ibdal, obtained by way of periwayatan.


4. Abd al-Fattah al-Qadi in al-Budur al-Zahirah

From some of the various definitions above, it can be drawn an understanding that the qira'at of the Qur'an came from the Prophet through al-sima’ and al-naql. As for what is meant by al-sima’ is qira'at al-Qur'an obtained through or by directly hearing the readings of the Prophet sholallohu 'alaihi wassalam, while the intended al-naql is, namely, it was obtained by way of narration stating that the qira'at al-Qur'an*tu was read before the Prophet and he confirmed it (al-Qadi, 1981:7).


From the description above, it can be concluded that what is meant by qira’at in this discussion is the first, how to pronounce the Quran as uttered by the Prophet sholallohu 'alaihi wassalam or as the Companions said before the Prophet sholallohu 'alaihi wassalam, then he mentaqrirkannya, Second, qira'at al-Qur'an obtained based on narration from the Prophet sholallohu 'alaihi wassalam both fi'liyah and taqririyah. Third, the qira'at of the Qur'an sometimes has only one qira'at, and sometimes has several versions of the qira'at.
