73. Lost in the Forest (22)

Looking for dry wood, baby found none.  He gathered some branches, intending to remove the outer part and take the still dry part of the inside, but this was impossible without a machete.  His efforts to ignite the fire only wasted the lighters' gas and left him desperate.

Reluctantly he crawled down the mosquito wire, wrapping himself in a second wire and a red poncho.  The release of weapons, flashlights, lighters, spray cans, snake venom serum, also cans and spoons.  If any wild animals approached, strong and noisy sounds would be made to frighten.  That's his thinking.

Tried to close his eyes to escape into a fantasy world, but his feelings were too tense and agitated.  His stomach was rumbling due to hunger, but all day he had not eaten anything.  Fear is harder to overcome.  Now he is in the heart of the wilderness, very vulnerable to attack, without any weapons to protect himself, no caves for him to hide in, no fire.

He kept hearing animal screeches, bird screams, insect hums.  Overthrow the edges of mosquito wire with stones so that the snake can not sneak in.  The flashlight kept him near his knee for fear of not being able to find him in the dark if needed.  In the distance there was a shrill that made his blood splash.  There must have been a tiger that managed to pounce on monkeys or other prey.

A few hours passed.  It was completely covered in darkness.  Suddenly there was the sound of a broken twig, the clattering of firm legs.  Something is coming to him.  Fear immediately gripped.  It must be just your imagination, he told himself.

But, the sound of rustling leaves and crackling branches stepped on so clearly.  Remove a stone from the mosquito wire and stick out your head to look at the darkness.  Called flashlight.  It doesn't look anything.  He breathed a sigh of relief but did not feel better at all.

Fear keeps on catching him.  Never had he been so scared.  Try lying back down while pulling the body cover.  Around him there were sounds.  His heart was pounding wildly.

“God, don't let me be eaten by wild animals.”

Driven fingers on an artificial weapon, worried about hysterics.  Again there was a crackling sound around him.  He jerked to his seat, grabbed a spoon and began to beat the can tightly.  All that comes up is a dull sound.

He shouted, “Hus! Hus! Hus!” like throwing a flock of chickens away.  Lying the body with the heart at a time.  Sounds are getting closer.

“Surely it's nothing.  There's nothing out there.  Your imagination.  It's only in your mind.”

Again there was a crackling sound, this time too close and clear to ignore.  Grasped flashlight, took out head from mosquito wire, jerked button.  He faced the tiger's face.

The beast is huge.  One of its claws was raised from the ground as if it was about to take another step forward.  As the flashlight shone towards him, the tiger lowered its claws without approaching.  The flashlight did not make him glare, but he stopped and stood looking at him.

The tiger did not look dangerous, neither roared nor licked its claws.  His eyes were neither savage, nor amiable, just a pair of big cat eyes paying attention.  The tiger fluttered perfectly, only its tail was wagging slowly.

“Go,” he wailed.  “May be away from here. Scrambled. Heard no? Go.”

The flashlight has a chain.  Bite the chain so that both hands are free.  The rabbis ground around with knees until they found a spray can and a lighter.  Holding a lighter in the left hand, a spray can in the right hand.  Now he was calm, no longer screaming or trembling.

“Maybe I shouldn't do it,” thought, “can the tiger get angry and attack me.”  Likewise, pressed the can button while turning on the lighter.

Succeeds.  A big fire was coming.  Smelled by it the smell of charred feathers on the left hand.  His eyes are almost blind.  Hold the object for a few minutes, until the spray liquid runs out and the lighter flame weakens.  The fire sprayer's out of power.

His vision gradually returned to normal.  The darkness faded until it remained in a centered circle, and he could finally see the light of the flashlight.  The tiger is gone.

Flashlight around left, right, back.  He has indeed escaped.  It seemed like a sound of steps away.  Did he succeed in scaring her?  He was neither happy nor relieved.  Some time left the flashlight on, but he turned it off for fear of running out of power.

He sat in the mosquito wire fully awake.  His heart pounded wildly every time it heard a sound, until the sun rose.  His light made him feel very safe, it seemed that not a single danger could befall him.  Muttering thanks, he packed all the equipment, then he left the place as soon as possible.

Because the sun was shining, he could now remember exactly where the river was.  He walked quickly.

“Straight, left, straight, left.”  He accompanies his steps with singing while heading to the river by going down the diagonal road.  Singing can help keep her spirits up.

At higher ground levels, the trees are much reduced so that the journey is faster.  Sometimes he found a river and stopped to drink.  It is free to spend water in both large cans.  His shoulders are also very relaxed.

However, after walking for several hours, there was again a frightening uncertainty.  The sun was already directly overhead and he had no idea where he was.  He was afraid not to even stay away from the river.  He may be stranded on the other side of the mountain and be lost forever without being found by anyone.  It's easy to get lost and lose your mind.

Nevertheless, he knew, the slightest source of water must have led him to the river.  Not too long found tributaries that flow in an unusual pattern because the flow leads down.  Followed by the drops that jump and bounce down the surface of the rocks so that it looks like a waterfall outpouring.  He was forced to leave this section in search of another, more modest slope down.

He continued to do so until he found a waterfall vying down from a height of one hundred and fifty feet, much higher than anything found before.

The view of the water flowing down from such a high place is amazing.

Far below, where the fall of the water hit the earth, there was another river flow.  Looking for a place that can be used to go down, but after it was found, there was no sound of water anymore.  The flow was invisible.  He was not interested in spending time and energy to go back and look for it, so he decided to continue the journey down until later to find another flow.  He found her soon.  This time he was determined not to lose track of the flow of water, whatever the risk.
