63. Lost in the Forest (12)

Kiki's plan makes sense to them.

“Alright,” Kiki continues.  “Let's find the first stop point.  We will enter the forest near the next bend to see the possibility of stopping.  Who wants to come?”

“Do not I,” whispered someone.  “I can barely agree with him on anything.  Better not me.”

“Do not me too,” said someone else.  “I don't know the main rules of rowing raft.”

“One of you must come,” urged Lili.  “Gue can not walk with this foot condition.”

“I don't want to go,” refute someone.

“Me too,” reset another.

Don't know if they're going to hurt poor Lili or not, but that's exactly what they did.

Kiki sideways, “You guys why the hell?  You guys don't expect me to go alone do you?  I'm here because you guys who are too insistent continue this journey.”

Someone relented, my “ coming, Ki.”

They enter the forest by placing a fixed river position on their left.  The field is flat and the number of trees is not as great as other places they have entered.  Kiki does not need to use his machete because they can continue to walk by circling or ducking under the branches of trees.

The next incident was not clear to them, although this was ultimately the turning point of their entire journey.  Someone only remembers Kiki suddenly turning over and saying this.  “What do we actually continue the journey for?” it was as if he was thinking hard.

“I must have gone mad so agreed to enter the canyon.  No one has ever gone there.  What if the rest stop was missed and we were dragged into the canyon?  We could all be dead.  End!”

“Then, what's the point? No one was waiting for me there.  No one would give me a gift if I did, why should I go?”

Kiki looked at Lili as if she had just seen her for the first time.  “Speaking just one good reason,” he said, this time voiced out loud straight to his face.

“I don't have time.  To reach the mouth of this canyon we need days.  I won't make it in time.  Why would I ruin my plan?  Since the beginning I told you my time is short!”

Kiki stopped talking and looked at Lili.

“Enough!  My resolve is round.  From here I go straight back, not going any further.  If you want to come with me, come on.  If not, just keep it to yourself.  Whatever the risk, I'll re-decide.”

Since Lili did not raise any objections, Kiki continued.

“Listen, why did you guys want to make this trip?  To spend a little time enjoying the forest?  Good, we did.  We walk and then we come back.  You want to sail the river on a raft, we feel enough.  You know what that feels like, what are we going to do?  Next is the same.”

“You're back, we have a few days to rest, camp by the river, hunt, and fish.  Lili can rest to take care of her legs.  We can eat well, take a bath in the river.  It was just the name of life, real fun, not a crazy trip through the river and risking lives in vain.”

Honestly, Lili was excited.

“Gue agree, Ki.”

They returned without exploring the river at all.

“I'm sure Lili will definitely choose to come back with us,” continued Kiki.  “That's it if he, stubborn, but has no choice.  There's little chance he'll go alone.”

When they returned to the raft, Lili was sitting on her feet in the sun.

“Agree,” welcome Lili.

“You?”

“OK, we're back,” other people said.

Kiki pulled out a map.

“Now our position is here.  It is almost impossible to return because it is at least a week walk away.  The most reasonable alternative is to follow the river path upstream.  At the head of the river there will be a village.  If we continue to follow the direction of the river without a tent, we must immediately reach the village.”

“There we build a sturdy and nice tent, stay three-four days.  We can eat heavy food, bananas, and nuts.  I'm sure we can get a game here.”

“After Lili can walk again, we start moving.  Two days at most has arrived in the city.”

“You sure it can be that easy we get there?  Has anyone ever taken this route?” ask someone.

“Maybe the people came here to fish, I don't know either.  But, even if no one has ever taken this route, it must be easy to live.  This river will directly take us to the village.”

“See this map carefully,” by someone.  “This river branches out in three different directions.  How do you know which branch the village is located on?”

“After close we definitely meet the path,” said Kiki.  “See.  The three branches of the river intersected with the road leading to the village.  The road is so wide, there's no way we can't see it.  From there to the village just two days on foot.”

Someone studied the map well.  He no longer raised any objections.  They also started building tents.  This time Kiki was very thorough.  Carefully he searched for a dry, flat, and somewhat higher area than the surface of the river.  Diligently get rid of rocks, weeds, and tree roots.

After that he asked Lili to accompany him to find a strong and straight bamboo trunk and tree branches.  Kiki intended to remove the adhesive from the raft and use it to hold the tent pole together, but the other person did not allow it.

“You didn't plan to go alone did you?” ask Kiki in a weak tone.

“Of course not,” says the guy.  “Only, it's a pity that the raft was dismantled.  For sentimental reasons, anyway.”

Kiki laughs.  “Good.  I'm just looking for vines in the woods.”

Once the tent is standing, the backpack contains food they put in a dry corner.  They make fire, put a pot on it.  After everything was neatly arranged, they decided to really rest and relax.

Decided back to try Lili's luck fishing.  Lili found a tree growing near the river.  Lili sits under this tree fishing for small fish.  The fish grumbled at Lili's bait but did not devour it.

He opened his shoes to get fresh air.  After the shoes and socks came off, he saw a lot of small red spots from under the feet to the ankles.  Mosquitoes buzz around their naked feet.  The socks were re-used before continuing fishing.  Someone's coming.

“Where did you disappear?  Daritadi I was looking for,” he said.

“I have an idea.  We go alone, yuk.”

Lili wasn't sure she was serious.

“I'm sure I can.  The current can do everything.  Look, yeah, I'm not an idiot.  I also had no intention of getting myself killed.  Think again.  Why did we take this trip?”

“Kiki promises us to see the village, the main goal of all this, but we never get there.  You remember the stupid story about wild animals along the river?  Gold mining camp?  What didn't he tell you?  We just have to go down the river on a raft.”

“Now he canceled.  How long have we been in the river?  Not for two full days.  For that I took this trip and resigned can not go home.  I think it's gonna be a once in a lifetime experience.  Now what do I get?  All in vain.”
