62. Lost in the Forest (11)

Traveling by raft is fun.  The river flows quietly, the day conditions are warm and beautiful, the raft is easier to control with paddles.  They could deflect it in any direction without much difficulty.  After a long illness, Kiki pointed to the left bank of the river.

Journey continued.  Lili asks Kiki to notice that the raft ties are very tenuous, so they may lose additional spindles on both sides of the raft.

“Later we stop to look for trees and make rodents again,” Kiki said.

Soon they found a wide land so easy to pull a raft.  They entered the forest while Lili remained on the raft.  In the forest, Kiki looked at the tops of the trees.  He chose a large tree with green and yellow leaves.  The wood he cut down with twice the slash of a machete, unfortunately the trunk is too small because the age of the tree is still very young.  Not much adhesive they can get from the skin of the wood.

“You first take it to the raft, then come back here again,” Kiki gives instructions.  “While you go, look for another wood.”

The people each held one end of the trunk but soon they released it due to being stung.  It turned out that the entire tree was filled with fire ants.  They tried to keep the insects out of the trees, but they were too numerous.

“Dollinate to water!” yell at one of them.  “Run fast!  Fucking basics.”

They immediately ran carrying wood to the river while screaming and cursing.  Lili looked in wonder as they ran past her.

“Attack fire!” someone shouted to explain.

Even in the water, ants bite.  They help each other get rid of it from the rest of the body.  A torrent swept away all the ants from the spindles.  After being freed from the ants, they place the stems near the raft.

“You alone are back in the forest,” said the person.  “I and Lili will make adhesive until you guys return to bring another wood.”

The man complies.  The other guy and Lili started working.  They skinned the logs into shreds with two sharp knives, then carefully removed the fibers under the bark.

“I've been waiting for a chance to talk alone with you,” said Lili suddenly.  “Yesterday Kiki told me that she thought about canceling the trip by raft and returning on foot because it was very risky, even though she knew nothing about the river.  He said he would like to see first how the development today is before deciding we have to go back or continue.”

“Then, of course there is no problem,” said someone. Today we managed to paddle smoothly.”

“Betul,” says Lili agrees.  “But, in case Kiki decides back..” Lili is silent for a moment before continuing.  “... let's go threesome.  We can do it without him.  If Kiki wants to come back, I can't come because I can't walk anymore.  The more days my legs get sick.  Most of the time we're wet, my feet never dry.  The rash has spread to all the legs.  We must continue the journey both with him and not.”

Lily's words were shocking.

Just then someone came out alone from the forest.  “I couldn't find Kiki,” he said.

“OK, okay,” says another.  “You don't have to act, I'll just go.”

Kiki was dragging a log in the sand.  Lili was right, Kiki immediately nagged.

“Why don't you come back?  Am I your slave?  I don't mind doing anything but I can't do it myself.”

“So he came back here, but he said he couldn't find you.”

“What kind of reason is that?  The whole forest can hear me cutting down trees with a machete, how could he not find me?”

After collecting the wood fibers from the second coil, they quickly tighten the additional rod bonds to the main raft and continue the journey.  Their raft is now good, unfortunately the river is no longer calm.

Its width narrows, and the field around them gets hilly.  The river is very wide and almost borderless.  Kiki was tense.  The current dragged them to hit the rocks and the rising edges.  In many places, the current is white and frothy.

One holds the paddle on the back left, while the other on the right.  Lili and Kiki were next to each other in front.  They quickly approached one turn of the river in front.  Further ahead they could see white water and half-submerged jagged stones strewn across the river.  The current was so strong, there was no way they could stop.

“Left! Quick to the left! Strong paddle!” shout Kiki.  “Come on all, paddles as strong as they are together!”

“Right!”  Someone shouted back.  “If to the left we hit the rock!”

“Close your mouth!” Kiki almost exploded.  “You don't understand.  This isn't a kayak.  Do what I tell you.”

Someone just stood holding a paddle because they did not know which side to row.  Lili turned to the guy.

“Dayung, fast paddle!” jerrit Lili.  “PEnote me and follow.  Deep paddles, like this.  Put the paddle in the water like this,” Lili hysterical.  Her voice screeching.

The rocks are getting closer.  There's no way they could escape.  Their frantic movements while rowing were completely useless.  The raft was hit hard once until it tilted to the side, then crashed down, rose again, down again, up and down again.

Close the eyes tightly while gripping the raft strap.  Seseorng heard Kiki's terrified scream, but couldn't catch her words.  The other person returned Kiki's shout, but this was not understood either.

Two minutes later, everything calmed down.  The river is now as smooth as glass.  They both exhale ******** relieved.  The raft suffered no serious damage, only the outermost spindle returned somewhat tenuous.

“I don't want to hear your rebuttal anymore,” said Kiki gasping for breath.  “According to my words, or we cancel the trip.  Clear?”

“Well, all right, I obey your words,” said the man to appease Kiki.

Lilie came closer.

“Sorry earlier I yelled at you, bro.”  “Soalya I understand well about rowing.  I used to paddle the river, have a lot of experience, so I want to show you how to.”

“Ga anything.  Your actions are right.  You're not yelling at me, kok.”

“So, you're not mad at me?”

“No,” says the person slowly.

Up ahead they could see a huge river flowing.

“That's the place,” Kiki tells.  “We stop first.”

The water at the confluence of the two rivers flowed quietly.  It doesn't take much energy to pull a raft to the sandy banks of the river.  The river is very wide.  The color of the water is silvery blue, while the other river water is dark green, both forming a very beautiful color mixture.

“That place is not far.  Whatever the story is, we can't go there.  Exactly it can be said ‘tox’.  On both sides of the river there is absolutely no land, only steep rock cliffs.  All we need to do from now on is stop periodically then walk a few more miles to make sure in front there is still a rest stop, so we can stop before reaching the mouth of the canyon.  We stop right there.  Later two people walk around it.”

Kiki's plan makes sense.
